Bit of a click-baity title but it's not mine

President Trump is doubling down on the unsubstantiated wiretapping claims against his predecessor, as well as his unproven allegation that former National Security Adviser Susan Rice may have committed a crime.

The president said the latest accusations that Rice ordered the unmasking of various members of his team during the transition supports his March 4 tweets that President Obama "wiretapped" him and his team during the election were proven right.

"When you look at Susan Rice and what's going on and so many people coming up to me and apologizing, now they're saying, ‘You know you were right when you said that,’" Trump said. "Perhaps I didn't know how right I was because nobody knew the extent of it."

Asked about Rice's defense that she would never order unmasking for political purposes, Trump countered, "does anybody really believe that?"

"Nobody believes that, even the people that try to protect her in the news media," Trump said. "It's such a big story and I'm sure it will continue forward but what they did is horrible."

Trump told The New York Times last week he believed Rice could be guilty of a crime. Rice's spokesman told ABC News she wouldn't "dignify the president's ludicrous charge with a comment."

Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo asked Trump why he still has so many Obama holdovers remaining in his administration, specifically pointing to Comey, who is not technically a political appointee.

Asked whether it was "too late" to get rid of Comey, Trump appeared hesitant to discuss his future.

"No, it's not too late," Trump said. "But you know I have confidence in him. We’ll see what happens. It is going to be interesting."

Trump went on to hit Comey for his actions in the Clinton email investigation, saying he was "very, very good to her" and "if he weren't, she would probably be going to trial."

This fuckin guy.

Trump firing Comey as Comey is investigating him for treason wouldn't look suspicious at all.

Also, this statement makes me think Trump's getting worried.

No way, didn't you see the news! The administration is fighting with Russia. There is no way these guys are in cahoots! They're worst enemies!

Please do it Trump. I'd love to see Comey go down swinging and by going down swinging have the IC band together to fuck him over.

That would be the worst thing Trump could do so he'll likely do it because he's that stupid. The result will be the entire IC gunning for his head. There is no way it doesn't look political and clear to everyone that he has something big to hide.

My 2 cents is that Trump's only going to get rid of Comey if Trump believes Comey has enough dirt on him to get him out of office. If Trump tries that it's only going to further validate the investigation against him, and by that point it would be too late anyway and removing Comey wouldn't accomplish anything because the IC would collectively gun for Trump.

In short, it would be Trump continuing to be his own worst enemy.

What a fucking idiot.

What does that even mean? He has these phrase structures that might have worked in the business world, but when we can all see the details and know how much he is bullshitting, it loses it's impact.

He has the best instincts.

He's still going on about the Susan Rice thing? Wasn't that debunked by the FBI just a few days ago?

I mean, he's still talking about Clinton...

He knew he was right, but he didn't know just how damn right he was. Tremendously right.

He's saying that he made up bullshit and was surprised that people found evidence to back it up.

Doesn't matter if that evidence is bullshit as well. He's just surprised that any of it stuck.

I would fucking love to see the asshat fire Comey. The backlash would be fucking insane. Like, it would basically confirm to most people that he was dirty, myself included. Well, that or he's a dumbass. Probably both.

If being actually wiretapped is 100% right, having the names unmasked must make him like 5% right.

So technically he did discover how right he was.

I'm sure that's a complete win for Trump considering he bullshitted this whole thing out of his ass one Saturday morning.

He always says that "so many people coming up and telling me..." line that I'd really like someone ask "who?" for once

Of course he'd just say "You know...people. Folks tell me tremendous things."

Fucking textbook at this point and nobody pushes him further than that.

Midterms would be a tidal wave for the Dems if he did. And his chances of impeachment would rise. And the IC and most of the press would take off any remaining gloves.

Yeah, I want him to do it.

This actually happened before. With Bill O'Rielly, crazily enough. Trumo was telling a story about how some cop was telling him they could end so much violence if they would 'untie' their hands and asked who it was and Trump just verbal diaherraed something that amounted to, "I dunno, some dude.' I think Bill even tried to press him to just give him a first name but he never did. Lol, it's such shit

Wish there was someone in the intelligence community who cared so little about repercussions to go scorched Earth on this man.

Unfortunately I am not nearly as brave and I am certainly not privy to any information of importance.

This is just typical trump. When something isn't going his way, attack and accuse. Double down on unsubstantiated beliefs. Claim "people" are agreeing with him. Has nothing to do with being worried. It's just what he does as a defense whenever anyone crosses him

If he fires Comey, I suspect something very unpleasant would...trickle into the news cycle about twenty minutes after the announcement.

The man is so stupid. No preservation instincts. Yes, keep shitting on the people who know everything about you, and are investigating you.

It's a populist thing. Rob Ford used those exact words too.

"So many people come up to me and tell me..."

It's still funny to me that 8 months ago Comey was the devil and now we're daring Trump to remove him

He would be dumb not to fire Comey. Sure it would look bad but Trump has survived the fucking elections looking bad. The firing will be transparent but his supporters are so dumb they wont care.

Give him enough rope and he'll hang himself. He hasn't gone a day without saying or doing some stupid shit. Sooner or later it's going to add up.

Does anyone think what he did with Hillary was right? He can be simultaneously a dick head and someone who can take down Trump

Oh, the letter thing could very well have cost Hillary the election and was unprecedented, hence why I find the redemption arc even more entertaining - I mean I'm still furious he did that.
