Just Mafia |OT| Sometimes You Don't Need A Reason to Lynch Your Friends

I'm the Power Cop, Zubz is the Night Watchman. I visited him last Night as I knew he'd be especially contentious after his own D1, thus I went after his Role/Power info firstly.

At the beginning of the Day I dropped clues hinting I knew he was a Night Watchman (and yes that's specifically what his Role is named as, blame the bloody host), and he noticed; I myself noticed that he must have noticed me visit him too, because at the time being the 4-vote majority soon after Day-start it seemed he was specifically asking for my help on the down-low, via his French-use & Gambit ask, to exonerate him him knowing that I knew what he really was.

I debated doing this since I didn't want to reveal myself as a Cop so early and for his sake; but I did know for a fact he was a useful PR, and very likely Town-aligned. If I have to spell out exactly why I thought so, then you should extra go fuck yourself, pardonnez-moi fuck. Zubz, don't.

Hence my Lovers plan to save him, and his going-along with it. I figured if I handcuffed myself to him, I could safely walk him out of your Resident Evil estate of stupid myself. Should've known the plan'd be doomed from the start because Zubz and my meta baggage, "partner".

Congratulations LaunchpadMcQ; after my many, many stress-test runs in randomized Role-play environments, the data permits that I may now definitively validate your hypotheses of that, on a graph of axes y- being 'Faction Tendency' with arbitrary Mafia-ness increasing with distance from origin, and x- being 'Apparent Indecisiveness' with any given player's seeming flexibility in decision-making (as arbitrarily quantified by the ratio of a given player's Daily rate of revotes for any player(s) they've voted against prior per unique-subject vote that Day, compared to that given player's average Daily post count) increasing with distance from origin, a) The greatest Mafiatell is flexibility but up to a maximal limit, a threshold amount considerable as "general spam" past which the player's Mafia-ness declines despite their displaying increasing flexibility, with flex furtherance only taking said player deeper into an undefinable Neutrality of x- rather than singular Towniness as expected, and b) The greatest Towntell is objective yet relative inflexibility in the face of novelty; in spite of an implausibly greater-than-greatest indicator existing past the "general spam" threshold but being not only unsustainable but unattainable as a player state due to the inherent borderless nature of Neutrality hinging on Mafia-ness. Consider yourself peer-reviewed, sheeple play-style vindicated and published under my esteemed sponsorship.

The group glances around at each other across the broad, long table. The only noise being the pounding rain hitting the windows in the outer hall. CrimsonFist finally appears with the rest of his staff, serving each of the seated guests.

CrimsonFist took his seat at the head of the table as the staff bowed and retreated back into the kitchens. He then raised a glass of wine into the air.

"To a good night, and a better tomorrow."

The others hardly moved at this, though some opted to drink heavily from their glass regardless.

The light taps and clinks of silver on silver scraping and grinding against each other was the only accompaniment to the dinner. CrimsonFist smiled and chuckled the entire meal, knowing every second of this charade was like a lifetime of embarrassment for his new toys.

Soon, the plates were cleared and the butlers returned to clear the table. As the staff made their leave again, CrimsonFist rose to his feet.

"Well then, it's time to discuss each of your... situations, and negotiate the 'costs' inherent in keeping them under wra-"

A huge crack of lightning illuminates the dark, stormy skies, as the manor was plunged into total darkness.

"What the hell?"
"Ah shit, an outage."
"Who's grabbing my arm?!?"

A second crack of lightning sends the room into momentary chaos, as several bulbs on the chandelier burst in bright flashes, energy pulsing it to life milliseconds at a time before returning to the pitch darkness. A heavy buzz hung in the air, then all was quiet.

The smell of gunpowder filled the satin-dark dining room, with only a sliver of light being visible under a door, as the fireplace roared in the adjoined sitting room. A noise of shuffling wood slamming into the ground and a terrifying groan echoed horribly through all of them. A moment later lights flooded the dining room once again, blinding everyone in the process. A scream suddenly bellowed in the long room and through the halls of the manor. The sight before them was too unbelievable.

Blargonaut was lying pathetically on the ground, his face down against the polished wooden floor, one of his arms flopped around his back. A pool of blood slowly starting to pool at his side. Whether or not Blargonaut was still breathing, no one could tell from sight alone. Nearly everyone rushed to his aid, and those who didn't were frozen in place.

Fat4all looked down at the tangled being, motionless on the floor, with shock.

Was this still part of the plan? he wondered to himself.

Fat4all's arm ached from the recoil, but the revolver was long hidden in his back pocket.

Fat4all wasn't the only one who didn't rush to the aid of Blargonaut. Hey_Monkey Was taken aback at the series of events that had taken place over the course of a few short minutes, but something was sticking in her mind.

Shouldn't there be more people here?

She looked carefully around the dining room and noticed that CrimsonFist was nowhere to be seen. She rounded the edge of the table to where he was sitting, examining the spot thoroughly. Drops of blood spattered across the ground, right under the head table seat.

Hey_Monkey looked under the table, but nothing was there. The blood specks seemed to lead to the kitchen. As she approached the kitchen door, she noticed a partial bloody hand print on the brown oak. The knob was wet as well.

"What are you doing?!? Blargonaut's been shot!" Cewyn yelled at her. She glanced back into the dining room, but had made her mind up already. She proceeded to open the kitchen door slowly.

The kitchen was dark, the staff must of left for their rooms as soon as dinner was over. Reaching around the walls, Hey_Monkey found a switch and flipped it. Her yell was cut short as she slipped on the blood below her.

CrimsonFist was there, in the middle of the kitchen, leaning against a steel fridge.

A knife buried in his chest.

Also, Zubz, you've eroded all my goodwill towards you. Now have no qualms towards getting you or blarg over the line today

Can someone ELI5 what Zubz and Blarg are?

I made several summaries about Zubz and Blarg. Look at posts 966, 967 and 1179.

Short answer: Scum partners.

More precise I think either:

1- Blarg is a godfather and he is trying to get lynch first so Zubz can try to push his narrative further.

2- Zubz can gain a double night kill when certain conditions are met. That's why Blarg is trying to give him an extra night.

3- Zubz has another role that it's important enough to make Blarg try to gain him another night.

If they are telling the truth then I'm not sure who to believe between Blarg or Zubz. Now they've both claimed cop and say that the other is the night watch.

Vote: Zubz

Reading Blargs recent posts I think he'll be better to keep around than Zubz. They're largely in this mess because of Zubz play in the first place.

It's honestly hard to be against the turbo right now when I'm still feeling a Zubz vote :/

the double cop claim is just making it worse

Logic ain't tactics. A cop on the edge should know that I've handed them the key to what I actually want.

You never seemed like the one to only take sure gambles to me anyways, homme.

Oh, so you're a T A C T I C I A N then, are you? How about you strategically consider me UNIMPRESSED

is it the truth or is it just f a k e n e w s

UNIMPRESSED

This isn't and shouldn't be a 2-suspect case, Kalor. Do some landscaping, widen your pool.

which one of you are lying

please, be honest with me blarg

My version is the absolute truth. Zubz there's still trying to push our ol' switcheRole on you, but the lie was for Town, just let the man be. Or you'll be having neither of us instead of either of us by Tomorrow.

How did both of you decided on the ol' switcheRole when you don't have a secret chat to plan it?

I just don't understand.

I don't understand how any cop could have any sort of connection to another player. One that will affect them, alter them, kill them.

The more I think about how the roles could of been shifted, the more confused I get.

Blarg's absolutely right... the plan was to get get people to effectively lightning rod the Scum & a defender onto me with my weird behavior. When Blarg rolled with it, I figured out the situation & claimed to be the Cop myself to protect Blarg (The only other person who used their power on me is voting for Blarg, by the way. You absolutely should stop if you're Town).

This game hit at a bad time when I was feeling pretty powerless in my day-to-day life, & now my attempts to keep the Cop safe & make the Night Watchman role do wonders have backfired. I'm sorry to Blarg, sorry to the Town players, & sorry to Crimson for botching what I am now realizing may be a new role. I'm seeing this day to the end, but I think I'm done with GAFia after this one.

You guys really need to stop making this game so goddamn personal

It's just a linguistic game when all is said and done, fuck

No, what happened is the tides turned against you. You and Blarg had lost Cewyn and were down a member on D1, the worst case scenario. You panicked. Blarg panicked. And then tried to formulate a plan. But in your rush you guys didn't coordinate well enough. Hence the lovers -> double cop -> blarg cop/zubz watchman -> blarg used his power on a nonexistent N0 turn.

Sorry, can't edit my previous post so here's a double post.

Relax man. People make mistakes. That's actually the only way town wins barring some good luck.

The game can be stressful but if you enjoy mafia at all ever I suggest trying again in the future. Don't give up over one bad experience.

We <3 you Zubz.

When a game is done it is done, and what's passed has passed.

But while your past mistakes make up your seasoning going forward, your next day is always your best day as a Mafia player.

Except for me, my first game was my masterpiece and every other game is just on borrowed time!

Sorry about that. That was transference on my end from a rough work week. Can't share the specifics, obviously, but it got too real here. At least here, the only person I'm really screwing over is Blarg.

I stand by that point, though. My plan was to effectively lightning rod but nobody bit into the plan to make everyone want to kill me. Blarg & 1 player voting for Blarg used their power on me.

If I knew we could lynch cabot in games he wasn't even in, I wouldn't have wasted so much time already!

He's always up for lynch.

Okay. I have work for most of the day. Reflecting on things. I don't understand this push for Kark as an arsonist. It seemed to originated from Blarg?

So, I'm left with Blarg or Zubz. Both now claimed the same role or different same roles. Fuck if I know anymore.

Vote: Zubz

This is my vote assuming no other insanity.

I'll check back during lunch. But I probably won't be on at deadline because of work.
