Bungie Announces Destiny 2 Iron Banner / Prestige Raid / Seasons Reveal

It’s a playlist where we can play just control and not supremacy or clash. Finally.

That's true, I'll be happy to not have to play that trash

So it's essentially normal PVP, just.........

You collect more tokens now.

Ok. Just give those tokens out in normal PVP now. Whats the point of this special mode?

This is pretty much what I was getting at. Before there was technically a difference even if there wasn't in practice. Now that there's no difference at all it seems entirely pointless

People complained because power *allegedly* mattered but ultimately didn’t.

It’s weird they took away power level advantages from Trials and Iron Banner but to be honest it’s never matter much. People spend the vast majority of their time in destiny at level cap or close enough to it that it wouldn’t matter anyways.

Everybody who plays the game regularly will be at or near 300+ so enabling Light would only be relevant insofar as super casuals and newbies dip their feet in. This measure makes monthly special activities open to them without really diminishing my experience at all so it’s good.

What I would absolutely rant about is them capping token then una like they did with Faction rally. If you don’t want people getting full sets in one go, don’t put it all for offer (like D1: this month we get chest and legs only for instance). Offering it all but making it RNG with limited chances whether you get a full set is atrocious design.

I remember how LL mattering came about.

Bungie advertised IB as PvP challenge where your power / LL really matters. Then IB came and level 1 character was equal to max lvl and max light character in performance. LL didn't matter, at all. Community demanded for it to actually matter so Bungie made it actually matter.

Sure in long run that is very token thing as wast majority will reach max or near max LL so everyone interested in Trials or IB are within the spread where difference doesn't matter. LL mattering still basically made them end game PvP as low LL couldn't compete.

Regressing on this I just find weird and pointless from Bungie's side. Why not to keep LL / PL mattering and make these "PvP end game"?

On token stuff I 100% agree.

I won't lie, these events feel kinda mundane.

Iron banner is literally just regular PVP, but now you collect tokens for every match.

Prestige Raid just has harder enemies. Actual mechanical changes are "minimal", and nothing actually progresses your character.

Someone here told me prestige raid would up the power level to 350. Apparently not.

I feel safe trading this game in now. Will pick up for expansion.

I'm more curious about the seasons more than anything. Could be a really cool idea if they implement it with the right features.

Is PL not mattering because bungie is hellbent on keeping leveling gimped with weekly milestones?

Fucking hell the endgame is trash.

Yeah... I... really don't understand why they regressed so much.

They should have taken TTK and removed the bullshit. Not remove the rewards.

Having power level matter is what made Iron Banner in Destiny feel fun, different and worth playing. Now it's just a mode that gives unique armor. That's not a good change.

This has to be first hunter armor I've seen from the content in Destiny 2 that I think looks decent. Warlock and Titan look solid as well, but I've seen some pretty good stuff from those classes already.

I hope the Prestige gear is appropriately awesome looking as well. Much prefer pve to pvp personally.

No, it's all new, fresh content. There's a blog post and everything!

Yeah, it's basically just 3 new sets of cosmetic gear they're trying to make into something more with fanfare. Cheaper to have someone mash out a blog post than designing new content.

Really hoping they do something cool with seasons though.

Whenever I went into IB everyone was at or near the max light level.

Why would someone who was significantly lower than the cap even go into IB to get stomped on? It never made sense as an idea.

This does seem to be shaping up as a pretty disappointing event though. Just nice looking armors. I knew better but had really hoped for 6v6 or a new game mode or something.

I mean I played during the entirety of d1 and it always felt like a change of pace from regular crucible to me. Must have been a placebo effect :p

If they're not even going to pretend it's any different I don't really see the point
Not placebo. Pace different because there’s way more people playing in teams than usual. But nothing to do with power level.

Also. IF TRIALS GETS A COMMENTATOR THEN PLS LET SALADÍN DO IT HERE

Hopefully Season means something more than a vendor with a few pieces of gear for tokens.

Please Bungie seperate PVP and PVE and give us scalable modes.

Wholly unimpressed. I expected new modes or player count.

You expected new modes a month after launch when the game isn't even out on a platform yet? Not to mention we have no idea what "seasons" mean yet. Those could possibly add new "modes".

I expected IB to bring something new top the table, yes. Especially given how lacking i view the current PvP content. I figured things were held back or still under construction.

Every queue is the same exact crucible experience with a different metagame attached to it. That wasn't the case in D1.

Ahhh ok

I love the way that armor looks. I hate that there's nothing special about this iron banner. You are forced to play the same thing just for tokens. That's horribly designed. What a waste of an idea.

I mean they are having allegedly a fully fledged expansion just three months after launch so I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they dropped something meaningfully new before then.

As it stands right now, there's almost nothing special about the event. There's nothing functionally different about it compared to what is already in the game, so making a special event for it just seems silly.

Still nothing to really grab my attention. Haven’t played in about a week. They shouldn’t be teasing seasons considering the content is stale now.

I expect something completely new to drop in mid november as by then PC will be out and players will have caught up

The last paragraph is great. Bungie, I have met new people in my play through of Destiny 2. It doesn’t mean that your game lack any meaningful grind. Datto summed it up perfectly so I cannot add anything. The game is fun, but it does have its hooks in me or my friends.

See you next week for Iron Banana.

My god. Look at that Warlock armor. Sexy as fuck. The Hunter helmet reminds me of Sir Alonne from Dark Souls 2.

The armor looks nice but honestly my favorite Iron Banner gearis still the original Iron Regalia set. Hopefully something like it can make a return eventually!

Yeah, the hooks all being different looking equipment is pretty disappointing. They could have changed up the raid mechanics (I really hope the reward isn't just an aura) and the same with multiplayer. Doing the same activities for a different set of tokens that give you rewards that just look different isn't going to keep me playing.

Remodeling IB into regular Crucible with the only difference being the gear and token drops is freaking stupid. The PL differences is what made this special to me.

Won't bother with IB if the token reward is the same as Faction Rally (2 tokens if lose, 5 if win).

If I can't complete Faction Rally sets even with the generous amount of tokens you can get from various activities, what chance did I have if you only get 2 tokens (I lost 80% of Crucible lol) per match.

Remodeling IB into regular Crucible with the only difference being the gear and token drops is freaking stupid. The PL differences is what made this special to me.

To be honest, even if IB is PL-enabled, you will only see 280+ players (even in normal quickplay 90% of the time the players I see are 270+PL) and AFAIK there is like 1-2% damage difference between 280PL and 305PL, making it no different than normal Crucible.

Lets look at the bright side regarding no Power Levels for Iron Banner.

You get to curbstomp casual players thanks to you being conditioned to be sweaty for D1 Iron Banner.

You still get to meet your sweaty opponents who are also conditioned for D1 Iron Banner for a challenge.

Seriously you guys are overreacting regarding no power levels. In the end you still gonna vs players who are more or less the same power level as you to the point it's no longer special. How fucking often you ever run into someone who is waaaaaay unleveled for IB in D1?
