Horizon: Zero Dawn confirmed for PC

Here's the actual model, it looks the same.

It's LOD is good because the world's so fucking empty,

You know that we can not end this never. DS is open and C3 linear...etc

Digital foundry did the comparison in 2013 of how the games looked in 2013. I will keep this source, as this is our argument.

And even in 2013, the dead ps360 hardware of 2005 could do this. Even if they didn't use the spus of cell processor for the ps3 version. Mainly they used that crap outdated even for 2005 gpu.

Now you're just trolling

You have on one hand a game that had to run in the ps360 hardware(they make it with this in mind) and on the other hand, a game that is based on ps4. We don't need to know anything else to agree with facts. I am not talking about crysis1 which was made only with pc hardware in mind. I will never say that a console game in 2007 or later looked better.

Of course I didn't measure poly count(so probably I am + - wrong). It was just a funny assumption(you can say it trolling ok). But it's a fact that DS has dozens of times more polygons and little details in general.
Probably the best looking 2013 game vs the best 2019 looking game.

It clearly doesn't, no equipment there too because low poly.
Just did a screenshot now.

Unfortunately you cannot remove motion blur on shots.

That is a horrible screen shot. Looks like shadows are non existent. I can't believe you are unable to take off the fanboy glasses, and see the facts that have been presented to you, over and over again.

I think that these friends are probably artists who know nothing about tech and how the thing they see in their editing tools makes it to the devkit screen. They think that because it's so fast it's the same thing. In reality it's not. There are a lot of steps from what artist sees to what is displayed on actual hardware. "It's all made for PC" is a pretty clueless statement.
But on other hand it's good, it's progress. In the PS2 days they would know painfully fast how not same it is. Praise the modern pipeline!

They are not artists bro. Tech savy. In fact, some are lead graphics programmers. I know my stuff, so I'm not blind to what an artist does versus a programmer. But you know that already.

Then it's still a pretty strange claim.
Using PC-only dev cycle was popular in PS3/X360 days for multi-platform, because of huge prices on devkits and slow devkit delivery.
AFAIK last-gen devkits were cheap as fuck and were used in every part of the pipeline. Some studios went as far as full WSWYG on devkit, you add code/change asset and immediately see it in game on the dev kit.

Yup and "everything wrong with the game, only the pc can fix it" 🤪

Seems the ground textures, lighting, combat and the main character face is trash lol
Modders!!!
They will make it a masterpiece!

Neofire Neofire You talking about me? I'm the only one as far as I can tell that mentioned ground textures and lighting. Would like to know where I said it looked like "trash." And yeah, lots of stuff can get "fixed" or enhanced for the PC releases of games... Especially if they come late. The things that need "fixed" are preference though and will vary from person to person.

P psorcerer Prove to me that modders don't fix stuff... I can show you a plethora of times modders fixed or enhanced what the devs didn't or couldn't for whatever reason. Just for one example to compare to the video above...

This is the concept that I am trying to convey. Better hardware makes room for devs to better implement the techniques that they are already employing in their software due to less constraints... It all depends on if the devs have the chops to do it in a profitable manner for the publisher or any other constraints that the pub might have. Which is why it's nice to have modding... The same goes for modders as well, if the game is moddable. Better hardware makes room for better, more technical mods to run... better... Heck, I remember modifying the .ini in TW3 for better draw distance and more grass years ago and only being able to tweak it slightly more than it already was less I wreck my framerate. Few years later and enters my 1080, 8086k, m.2 and 32GB ram and now I can crank it to an amazing degree at a stable framerate. It's a sight to behold in motion.

Here is as good as I could do on my old PC with mods and a mix of mid to high settings... 3440x1440
23688147608_ffe26b3e16_k.jpg

Here is my new PC at Max settings and WAY more mods. Much higher and far more stable fps than I was getting before regardless of my new Gsync monitor... I couldn't afford a 21:9 Gsync and didn't want to wait for one that would match the caliber of my Viewsonic Elite anyway which had all the specs I wanted. And as for the clouds if you are wondering, I wanted a more realistic sky that reacted with the sun. If there are clouds now, the lighting changes and actually makes it darker... Previously, it was just jarring to me. The first shot should have clouds casting tons of shadows and it shouldn't be so friggin bright... Anyway, this is all just preference. Both of the shots have different weather, lighting and cloud mods.

Some console games allow mods as well btw. Maybe soon you will be able to compare next and last gen mods for them as they will surely allow for less constraints than the last gen did. How does this not make sense? Please, try to remove the fanboy from the conversation.

Why so serious?
I love PC gaming, I have started gaming on PC probably earlier than some people on GAF were born (1993) . Since then I upgrade pretty regularly.
I do like mods.
I don't like fanboys.
I also think that to be an elitist gamer you need to have all the best hardware.
This gen it means also PS4(Pro).
If next gen is disappointing I may not buy any console. But so far it looks pretty good.

You don't get to play the "get out of being a fanboy" card by posting all your cred. You where acting like a fanboy with that comment and some of your others, it isn't helping anything.

EDIT: FWIW You aren't the only one doing it, there are people on both sides. I suppose it's just more upsetting to me because from what I can tell, you're pretty intelligent in this area, so when I see something that is blatant... I'm not trying to police anybody, just saying it's not helping the conversation.

Acting like a fanboy and being a fanboy are two different things.
I just like to be the devil's advocate too much, guilty.
Yeah, I get that, but no one can tell the difference and that's the problem. Maybe better to play devils advocate from just a fans perspective instead IMO.

It's easier to differentiate between someone who's just being a fan rather than a fanboy. As one is going to be far more unreasoned than the other when approached with logic and facts that are unfavorable to them. A fan will fall back on preference and it won't even bother him much (However, if he was engaged with a fanboy this would infuriate the fanboy). A fanboy will go all out with the twisting and is "secretly" or rather, very obviously emotionally worked up by it. I love talking about and learning new things with people so that we can all grow and be better off for it. But it's so hard to do these days with all the fanboys who just want to run in circles and crush their enemies at all cost so they can stand on top of the hill and shout, "Hey! Look at me!" while their weeping opponents tears turn the hill into an island for them to rule in their minds. It's just all so tiring.

I understand where are you coming from.
But for me it kind of the opposite.
1. I have an emotional response of a rock. (yep, some girls even left me because "you're senseless!!" :messenger_tears_of_joy: )
2. With years I've learnt how to fake it.
3. I think that people who are not at all emotionally involved do not bring their best arguments to the table.
4. Sometimes I overdo it, but you never know. I'm sorry when I overdo it. But, see 1.
Something like that.

Yes you are one of the individuals pushing the "unless it's on the PC it just isn't good" rhetoric, it's funny how most games are great or fantastic until they announce an unexpected pc version and then people start to pick away at parts that were fine until they get wind of a PC version.

Yes the pc can and will always be about to run games at higher performance, there is no disputing that but water is wet. Tell us something we didnt know.

looks much better than death stranding lol

So did your mom before i minced and processed her to fit within the weight limitations of the parcel i sent to hell.

Bitch.

Any more shit talking about DS and ill petition Sony to make PSN free again. I know how much you wage workers love to pay twice to play the games you bought.

When did I ever push that? Show me the receipts.

Sony defense force incoming in t minus....

But I agree, more gamers being able to play a game, which they otherwise would not be able to play, is only beneficial. Both Sony as a company, and consumers all over get to prosper from decisions like this

Well the logo was never there to begin with. On October 2019, there is no tag for only on PlayStation.

This second picture looks horrible. There is too much ambient occlusion there which destroys the image.

I'm not a big fan of 2D depth buffer mods in games. It's completely not art-directed and will not use PBR like it's supposed to be. W3 has a problem with too much light probe ambient lighting because nearly all of the shaders don't check for visibility to the light. A perfect example of working this from art direction is RDR2.

We'll just have to wait for a good realistic global illumination solution (i.e. ray-tracing).

God of War only on PlayStation logo has been removed on Sony website.
To be fair, many of their games have been on PS Now (PC) for a year or two. God of War included.

But for standalone purchase, VFX was right. Expect more exclusives to PC.
Interesting, decided to check few more titles and found two more without the "Only On PlayStation" tag:
-Dreams (makes sense to release it on PC, I think?)
-Until Dawn (same engine as HZD/DS, which are coming to PC)

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought Until Dawn was already a PC game.... my mistake, I thought it was one of those Quantic Dream games.

Dreams makes the most sense. I can understand Sony not wanting to port big titles right away, but Dreams kind of games will be niche forever. This game should have been a day one PC port with cross plat community sharing from day one.

If they release God of War on PC, fingers crossed they release a GoW: Antique Collection with all the previous games beforehand.
Not only would it curb stomp the Halo: The Master Chief Collection, but the angelic chorus of certain Sony super fans shrieking in falsetto would be freakin' epic.

i could double dip to do until dawn a third time and try another combinaison in good conditions.
