Machinegames doing Indiana Jones for Bethesda

I still would've preferred something new. It's kinda pointless just like alien isolation was... since alien is nothing new.
But I loved the emperors tomb

Dude. They aren't signing contracts for this game today. The deal between lucas film and bethesda was likely made prior to the acquisition. They should've said "in development exclusively for xbox and pc" to clear the air right away.
Alot of deals were made prior to the acquisition and it would have factored into the bid price. And Disney isn't going to tell Bethesda what platforms they have to release it on. Microsoft is not going to pay $7.5 billion for all of their properties "except the big ones".

Bethesda was bought to help GamePass be the Netflix of games. Satya Nadella's paycheck is directly tied to how many GamePass subscriptions MS sells. Releasing big games on competitor consoles doesn't sell GamePass subscriptions.

To make it easier on you, if you want to know whether or not something is true regarding Xbox, ask yourself, "Does it sell GamePass subs?" You'll have your answer.

If the shoe was on the other foot and Sony bought Bethesda, NO ONE would be questioning whether or not the games were exclusive to Playstation. There wouldn't be a question. But we still have the mindset where every big game ever has to be released on Playstation. This is just the tip of the iceberg. When more games from this acquisition get announced, the veiled port begging will only intensify.

Microsoft or Zenimax don't own the Indiana Jones IP, though. Lucasfilm licensing conditions could very well require them to put the game on other platforms, just like MLB's new contract with Sony requires them to develop MLB The Show for Xbox.
Sony doesn't own the Spiderman IP. Marvel/Disney does. Disney also owns Lucasfilm. Spiderman is probably worth boatloads more as an IP than Indiana Jones.

Ask me about my fanboy energy!
Do that do that for game like oblivion, mass effect, pvz and rise of tomb raider?

Just asking
Oblivion is old but they have tweeted about the others. Infact they retweet most major announcements even with cases like Assassin's Creed Valhalla where the partnership is with Xbox.

I don’t think a game like this would be exclusive to Xbox, Indiana Jones is too big of a game to be exclusive to Xbox. Maybe I’m wrong.

Why are so many games "too big" to be Xbox exclusives? Why wouldn't that also apply to Spiderman, God of War, Horizon etc?

We currently don't know when or what was agreed to when this deal was inked with Disney and it may well be multi-plat but If certain games on PlayStation aren't too big to be exclusive why would so many other games from studios Xbox owns be too big to be exclusive?

Xbox fanboys are really thinking this is going to be exclusive to Xbox ecosystem, I personally believe I don’t think it will, it’s too big of a franchise to be exclusive to one single ecosystem and if that’s the case then damn Microsoft is making big moves in the Industry.

Those that you mentioned are made by Sony and that includes Spider-Man when Sony still owns the rights to Spider-Man.

MachineGames have quickly become one of my favourite devs so I'm very hyped for this. Do we have any idea if this will be third or first-person?

I'm seeing some massive copium in this thread from the Sony Boys™.

I'm not saying the game definitely won't be an exclusive. I'm saying that if Lucasfilm doesn't want it to be, then I doubt Zenimax would refuse to cooperate.

Make something that's not Tomb Raider nor Uncharted and I'll be happy. The last thing I want is an action set piece game with some puzzles thrown in.

Let the port begging begin :ROFLMAO: ‘Xbox has no games. Also, please let me play these games on my PlayStation’.

Sony own the MOVIE rights to Spider-Man. Not the VIDEOGAME rights.

I'm almost certain this game is going to be multiplatform as Disney/LucasFilm would probably not have licensed out the IP if they could not reach as many players/consumers as possible. However, I expect Microsoft to have the marketing rights, possibly exclusive DLC extras, and if they go all out, Day 1 GamePass availability. Doing those 3 things will make purchasing the game on PS5 a very difficult proposition.

Nice, looking forward to seeing more.
The new Wolfenstein games were pretty good (the first one much more so than the second one, but still) so this should be good.

If nothing else it can't be worse than Kingdom of the crystal skull, right?

Or Disney is fiscally in the shit because of Covid and MS money hatted a huge OP.

Bethesda is MS now. Time to let it go...

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was so bad. I'm actually disappointed they never made the Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis movie.

Its entirely possible, but if that were the case, I would think Microsoft/Bethesda would wait for a huge industry event like E3 to announce it as an Xbox/PC exclusive instead of a teaser trailer on twitter that lists no platforms. That makes much more marketing sense to me.

That wasn't because of an exclusivity deal, though. Bioware didn't feel comfortable developing for PS2/Gamecube and decided to stick with PC and Xbox because of their similarities.
You missed the point. The point is that Lucas Arts didn't compel Bioware to make the game for multiple platforms as some are suggesting they will do this time around because it's a big video game and big videogames always come to Playstation.

Maybe certain markets are getting tiny numbers of xboxes and they think it might be a way of stopping people jumping ship to PS5?

It was some insider claiming its not MS exclusive.

I don't buy it anyways. MS is absolutely NOT going to fund 3-4 years of their own studio developing a game on ps5. This not mentioning platforms while ESO expansions do means its 100% exclusive.
I think this game has been in development for some years now. MachineGames last major project was Wolfenstein 2 which released in late 2017, effectively giving them 3 years of time in-between. This game is no more than 18 months away from launch if I was a betting man. Also, the acquisition of Bethesda by MS wont be finalized until late this year, so MS isn't/hasn't spent money on this games development.

Who except for overly paranoid and impatient gamers is actually needing an announcement for specific platforms for a game not coming out until the end of the year at the very earliest?

Microsoft can't mention anything about Bethesda/Zenimax exclusivity until the acquisition is finalized. However, considering we already have a precedent for OTHER Zenimax games coming this year clearly announcing their platforms (in the case of Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo, timed PS5 exclusives), the fact the new Indiana Jones game ISN'T doing that probably suggests at the very least, it's not a PS5 exclusive. However, given the timing of the announcement with the likelihood of the deal being finalized pretty soon, and given how big of an IP get this already is (going by social media reactions), I would not be surprised if this is Xbox/PC exclusive. And really, Microsoft needs more exclusives of this caliber anyway, so I'm hoping that's the case.

Especially if by some chance it does release this year, it'd make things a lot more interesting between their releases and Sony's for 2021, and Sony's already well-off in terms of major exclusives if GoW and Forbidden West hit this year, let alone the rumored MGS remake and new Silent Hill game. A new Indy game being Xbox/PC-exclusive would be a big get for Microsoft and counterbalance (with help from games like Scorn, Bright Memory Infinite etc.) PS5's 1P stable very nicely.
