10% is not enough. You're forced to buy a memory stick (practically) and it would take ~6 games to offset the price of the cheapest memory stick.. and if you did they wouldn't even all fit on it.

Now if they were $30 instead of $40 that would be nice, but saving $4 is not worth it, might as well buy a physical copy and some places would probably be cheaper.

Why some games have no discount at all is beyond me.

You have to think about retailers. Gamestop, with their huge profits they get with used games, wouldn't want the system they're selling to undercut their prices on digital majorly. And beyond that, your mindset seems to be that all the advantages are to buying physical, when in fact, there are many advantages to buying digital as well.

You have to call your Gamestop, but yes, I just checked, and mine is selling Uncharted, Wipeout, and Little Deviants.

Went into GAME today and asked about the launch prices of PSV games.

Answer was - £39.99. All of them. When asked if I wanted to pre-order, I basically told the truth - amazon are getting my money.

I think Unit 13 looks terribly bland. The UI is cluttered and the camera is so close to the character's back that moving in tight spaces could prove cumbersome. They need to zoom out a bit and use the more traditional Socom view.

This is, however, a Zipper Interactive title; a studio who could fuck up a cup of coffee, so who knows what to expect.

What is that? I can only think of one thing (ignoring the puny $4, can't even buy a moccajokapoka at Starbucks with that saving), and that's having a bunch of full games on a system without having to switch them or losing them.

I got enough cash from trading in two games (MW3 and FFIV) to get at least one more Vita game so that's probably Everybody's Golf sorted. I may go back and trade the other two (3DS games) but I'm not sure I want to be down to just Mario Kart on 3DS.

I'm so on the fence about the Vita. On the one hand, I find the technology absolutely wonderful and I want one badly. On the other, I'm disappointed with the battery life, which is important to me when I travel.

There are a few games in the launch line-up that I'm interested in, but I may wait and see what comes down the line. I really great, open world RPG that I could carry around in my hands would get me very excited.

Assuming downloads are roughly the same price as Amazon I'm basically using the trade-ins to get PSN cards to go digital. Some of the retail prices seem ridiculous. There should definitely be a £10 difference between Uncharted and Wipeout for example.

$50 for their external battery pack is a pretty good deal. Charges the system for an additional 6-7 hours I believe. You should look into it if you travel a lot.

Nothing new. PSP was the same at launch, even 3DS games are sold close to that; many shops sell 3D Land/MK7 for £35, £37.50.

Yeah, I saw that on the Game Stop site and thought that it was a good solution. It seemed small and light as well, which is a big plus. I'm definitely tempted to jump in at launch. I bought the original PSP when it launched, and loved it. Later I picked up a PSP Go and played it regularly for a while. It's kind of collecting dust at the moment though.

It's worth it to me to be able to carry around multiple games all on one memory card and launch them without having to swap anything out.

Craigslist or trade those sum-bitches in. I believe GS and Best Buy have trade-in promotions going on right now for extra value.

Having no discount on Uncharted for the PSN is just absurd and downright idiotic.

I can only assume that they are convinced it's going to be mega popular and that they can justify it. But lets be real for a second, every PS3 game is on there for full price, same on every other platform. The oddity is that there is any discount on anything at all.

The remaining question is whether 3rd party games will have any discount. Do EA think that Fifa will get enough buys at the RRP to not bother for example.

I just hope that the 10% is the norm with a few exceptions rather than the other way around.

I'll be just using amazon for games, really. I'm pre-ordering the vita itself from GAME because of the 3DS trade in deal - but I'll be waiting until the royal mail deliver my games that day (or before, hopefully!),

As Sartre noted in his contemplation on Hell in No Exit, the true horror is other members.
You can still put your downloads on a memory card. There's your physical media.

Naw. I'd rather buy new games than rebuy ones that I've already bought. I suppose I could explore ISOs and DMCA violation but it's not my style.

The games I have bought digitally are just the ones that aren't available any other way. I'll bet the Super Stardust Portable would play better with the dual sticks (but I bet the right stick would just map 8-way, and not have the "analog" feel--it's digital to analog mapping after all). Everyday Shooter, too (which, weirdly, already had an 8-way limitation to its shooting).

What if physical Vita games shipped with downloadable codes for digital copies too (Blu-ray model), but ran $15-20 more? So that would be $70 for UC. Let's say GS offers you $25 for the cart; that would mean you paid $45 for the code, which is right in line with their 10% discount for most games (excluding UC for the time being).

I'm just throwing it out there, but would that be an option that people would be interested in?

No, because for quite a few of those games you have the option of buying cheaper at Amazon and still activating on Steam.

weird right....and steam still makes record cash.

though to nip the future rage counter posts that that statement will initiate i do know its a apples and oranges argument .....kind of

£35 is acceptable. I've just left my job at store manager at a Blockbuster, and we sold Mario 3D Land and MK7 for £32.99 - which was a decent price

how the fuck GAME think they can charge £39.99 for a handheld title is absolutely mindblowing

Can this be used to power the system while playing, or is it purely a charger which will not do anything unless the Vita is off?

Not switching carts and not losing carts are two different advantages, but also having all your games with you at one time, being able to download as soon as it comes out and not having to go to the store, and saving about 5 bucks as a little bonus.

Yet I still prefer owning a physical copy.

It's a shame you can't simply tie a game card to your PSN account and download a copy. Could also potentially kill used sales. :p

I'm with you. I'm using this on the go, and I don't want to carry a larger case (if any) than I must. I also lose things when I carry them with me.

I have a feeling I'm gonna like Uncharted Golden Abyss more than I did Part 3. Anyone that's played it feel that way?

Oh I do too. I'm just saying that there are advantages to physical and digital. I personally am going to buy all retail games in physical format, because that's just what I prefer.

Pretty much. When you look at the games which are £40 it's not too surprising. Uncharted for some reason is some expensive ass game in any country, don't know what Sony is thinking. FIFA is £40 on GAME site and well, that's just EA milking as usual. Other games are £30 or less.

re: physical copies -

Personally I enjoy the ability to play a ton of digital PSone Classics and PSP games on my PSP unit all at once - it's extremely convenient to not have to go to the store and just "shop at home" in my underwear when I want a new game.

However, as an old school gamer since the Atari, I see the benefit of owning physical copies. It's nice that many years later, I do not need access to an "NES Network" account to play Super Mario on my NES.

If I bought 100 games on the "NES Network" and my internal memory can only fit 30 or so, that's a ton of games I will be missing out on 10 years from now unless I buy memory card after memory card. If I buy 100 NES games physically, I can play all 100 of those physical games.

I'm quite frankly surprised no one is willing to see Imbarkus' point of view. It's extremely valid, and a reason I'll be buying physical games for marquee titles.

I only buy digital releases if the price is ridiculously low (steam sales), or finding a copy of something is inconvenient (psn ps1 games). Otherwise, I much prefer to always have a physical copy.

I don't know where to post this. I hope someone with knowledge can answer here.

What's stopping Sony from enabling Remote Play on all PS3/PSN games ?

I don't think anyone knows for sure. It's certainly capable as seen through videos on YT from people with CFW using it.

yeah my amazon.ca order still says shipping soon. i DID order it in the evening last night, so maybe the guy on rfd who claims his is delivering just ordered earlier so it got sent out first. still seems fishy though.

So that they can sell us the same game twice as the "Vita version" - ie MGS HD Vita that's already on the PS3.
Err, I don't think that''s a good reason.

Remote play produces a vastly inferior image quality. Playing a game using remote play is nothing like playing the real deal. It basically appears as if you're controlling a laggy, artifact laden youtube video rather than an actual game.
