Halo |OT9| One Final Effort Is All That Remains

I hate to say it and I hope Stinkles isn't reading, but killcams would probably convert half my COD friends, as that's one thing they're always complaining about.

I don't want kill cams after every death for these reasons:

1. As someone who plays to win, I don't really care to see exactly how I was killed. All I need to know is what weapon was used to kill me and where it came from. I know all of this 99% of the time in Halo already.

2. I need to be able to rotate the camera around either my dead body or my teammate's body so I can communicate with them and let them know where the enemies are in real time. I can also offer advice based on the situation because I know more about what's going on than my teammates might in that specific moment.

Halo never had this, it doesn't need it and is taking away more important functionality. Keep it in training/beginner playlists, get it out of everything else.

I'd be more encouraged if sprint helped maps that had similar wide open spaces to play better against the DMR (Hemorrhage, Highlands), but it didn't seem to help at all. And guys on the hill engaging those in their base directly is, I think, a pretty fundamental change to how the map will play. I'm deeply pessimistic. But we'll find out soon enough.

I swear you could still ping the hill and people in the bases with the BR in Halo 3, but with spread, 2X zoom, and lower quality networking, it wasn't very effective or won't be as effective as the DMR will be.

I feel like Hemorrhage doesn't compare to Valhalla, maybe Highlands doesn't either. Hemorrhage is a big bowl with little cover and long ground to travel. There are minimal routes and it takes quite a while to get to them all while being out in the open. Valhalla's got many routes that you can get to quickly, and while the hill can be the dominate spot, its in the middle which means there are many angles of attack. Besides the hill, there aren't large cliffs with only 1 way up to snipe and ping from and with the hill you can scale it from multiple spots unlike the cliff edges in Hemo.

I agree with your for Hemorrhage, but for Valhalla/Ragnarok its different. Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but I personally think it'll be fine.

The only thing I don't like about kill cams is how they give away the position of snipers. Otherwise, they're awesome.

I like that part of it. Forces them to move around after a kill instead of camping barely within sight.

Oh snap, I never thought about that, that's a bitch of a problem...

I'm lovin' it.

BA DA BAP BAP BA!

I swear Karma isn't pro anymore, didn't he absolutely blow at H3 and quit?

More like he realized that he could make more cash working at Gamestop than being a pro. You literally have to win tons of tourneys on a regular basis for it to be worth it.

Frank vs Watchers. That is all.

But...but...but...the LAG! Yeah...the lag...

...

...

Glad I am not the only one thinking this. Was slightly painful to watch. Same goes for the Banshee dogfight.

Who the hell are you and where the hell did you come from?

EDIT:
Oh snap, I never thought about that, that's a bitch of a problem...

Seriously? It's like low-level team communication 101. Oh wait - Talents. Nevermind.

;)

As far as I know, as it's been described, the initial weapon set on a map is fixed. So the Laser, if it is actually the hill weapon (which seems likely, but we don't know for sure), will be there at the start of every game.

Is this true? I hadn't seen that clarified anywhere. If so, my sodium levels will drop immediately.

Today is a great day to celebrate as I have finally hit my 4K assassination mark in matchmaking getting me Onyx in the Rear Admiral commendation (I know... nobody cares :p). I saved the clip and below are some fun facts. :)

Literally OVER HALF of your kills are melees? And that doesn't even account for "beat down"s?

*adds to list of people never to be on the same team with*

This post made me depressed. I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Black Ops 2 revealed their multiplayer playlists prior to launch.

Pretty cool.

...okay?

Has Halo 4 been released in the hour and a half I've been in class?

I swear you could still ping the hill and people in the bases with the BR in Halo 3, but with spread, 2X zoom, and lower quality networking, it wasn't very effective or won't be as effective as the DMR will be.
One of us is wrong here, but there's no way you could do that. Maybe a stray bullet, but no more. They're too far apart, the bases are too cramped, and the BR had spread.

What I mostly hate about killcams (in COD) is that they show a different story to what I saw happening in realtime, like me shooting just once before dying like a moron when I'm pretty sure I hit the guy like 4 times at least, and that pisses me off everytime. From the reports it seems it's like that too in Halo 4.

Where's this Frankie demo you're all talking about.

You guys are crazy. Kill-cams are awesome and with Halo's physics-heavy sandbox they'll be even more entertaining than Call of Duty's kill-cams.

As long as we can turn them off for competitive/tournament play I don't see any reason to complain. (I mean, if you really wanted to be super-competitive, wouldn't you want to prevent dead players from rotating/using their camera?)

Happened to me a lot in COD when I still played it. It's something to do with lag.

Congrats to u4ix and Bravo on MLG Dallas casting.

Frank the tank! Frank the tank!

Congrats guys :)

On Valhalla, will be interesting to see how important hill control is, seeing as the Splaser and other power weapon spawns will move around.

That map seems pretty big. :/ Also those buildings remind me of Mass Effect 3.

Looks like kill cams were in flood if I am not mistaken.

as long as i can toggle them so that i dont have to see them in matchmaking.

Should still be the same - just now there will be more movement in other areas of the map hopefully. Controlling the top hill is key for call outs and map movement.

My favorite thing about this game is going to be using the Thrusters in midair. Shit is gonna be cray.

Yeah.. I was shocked to see no footage of people jumping off ledges and Thrusting to other levels of the map (ie: jumping off top Haven to thrust back to safety underneath).

Cray.

Dont forget Halo 4 has ordnance drops, not weapons on map, but I hope the laser & railgun will feature in the map.

..this is not entirely true.

sure infinity has shuffled ordnance drops,
sure infinity has personal ordnance,

but its not like the maps are devoid of starting weapon placements in non-infinity gametypes

right?

Seems to me that guys holding middle hill are going to be too busy getting stomped on by Mantis's and crapped on by Banshees to be pinging either base. That's more my concern at this point- it just looks like there's too much "stuff" getting jammed into this game.

It's great to hear that the gunplay and core mechanics are solid- I just hope I'm able to find time to enjoy them while avoiding scorpions, gauss hogs, banshees, mechs, laser, binary rifles, cross-map dmr's, snipers and incineration cannons.

Yeah. Default sounds a bit too much like Heavies.

So that Giantbomb/Gamespot live stream had some decent direct feed footage of Longbow, Exile and Solace if people are interested.. Some of it is definitely new.

Man, that thruster is insane. Im a little suprised that in the new mode they don't give you the Scattershot and Boltshot as those weapons were created to fight the Flood. Just seems like a natural fit.

Cant wait for this.
