I tried getting into Disgaea on the PSP. Being a fan of SRPG's like FF Tactics, Tactics Ogre and Front Mission, I thought I'd enjoy this series. But I was disappointed. The graphics reminded me of a Korean flash game, and the story was pretty slap stick.

Is the Vita Disgaea any different?

Finally got the platinum for Disgaea 3, I really hope more games like it come over to the Vita even if they're just ports with DLC.

Related to this, a general question for everyone:
In light of
1) the relative success of ports like P4G and Disgaea 3 (at least in terms of reactions, not sure about sales); and
2) the whole RE: Revelations debacle,

Why isn't there an Operation Rainfall-like movement for Vita games?
I mean, I know the Wii was vastly more successful, so convincing publishers to take chances on publishing wasn't nearly as hard to do, but would it be worth trying anyway? If devs aren't going to risk the time and money on creating new franchise entries or IPs, I'd be fine, personally, if they started porting classic games over to the Vita. Admittedly, it wouldn't help with some people's perception that it's a port machine, but if that's the price of getting more games on the system, I think that'd be a worthwhile trade-off.

Or am I just completely off?

Hah. No. Every Disgaea is the same. And Disgaea 1 is the only one worth a damn since the characters there are actually worthwhile.

Graphics: characters are still basic 2D sprites, but the environments are 3D and look nicer

Story: still has that quirky sense of humor with pop culture references thrown in

Gameplay: far improved over D1 and D2

around 100 hours but I wasted my time on a lot of useless stuff cause of my OCD. Disgaea 4 platinum took me around 300 hours :/

Also Legend of Dragoon is great, some will disagree, but I enjoyed it.

Yeah, it was kinda rough (like an iffy localization par for the era) but still pretty enjoyable. I loved the cheesy attack combos and really appreciated how items were actually not a throwaway part of the battle system.

On another note. I stopped by GameStop ( :l ) earlier today because I had a gift card to burn. There were three guys working there. None of them knew what Persona 4 even was. I was going to buy it until the guy was going to sell me one of those "new" but opened and gutted copies of the game. I was also trying to get Rayman Origins but they didn't have it and none of the stores in my area have it (?) Oh, and one of the other guys there claimed that Sonic&Sega AllStars Transformed was a laughably horrible game.

So I bought PSN credit with the GameStop credit and left. LOL

I also have NFS:MW--pretty amazing on the Vita.

Been playing the Sonic Racing demo and there's only one part where I notice it stutter--at the exit of the cave in the Golden Axe course, a short distance before the the 1st checkpoint.

Was just wondering, if I'm happy with the frame rate of NFS:MW can I expect the same from Sonic Racing? Is it better or worse in your opinion (in terms of overall frame rate)?

I just wanted to add that I've been playing NGS+ on and off lately, and it's still super fun as butchered as it is.

If anyone's on the fence, I totes recommend it even though it's only 30fps and randomly loads/freezes. I never played Sigma before, so I don't mind that it's not based on Black. I like some of Sigma's changes, tbh.

Really excited for NGS2+ and DOA5+ and most likely buying those digitally, as well. Kind of bummed I have to stop myself from doing that with 3DS games, but that's neither here nor there, I guess.

If they're charging $40 without distribution fees, packaging, etc., then why would they charge $30 for a physical release that requires those extra things?

Seeing all those intimidating stats in Disgaea 3 really puts me off playing through it since I'm only like a couple hours in. D:

you only need a tiny fraction of those numbers to beat the story... you only need to worry about getting super powerful if you want to be the optional final boss.
