I have personally read the psychological journals which indicate that violent videogames lead to increased aggression and desensitization to violence. Those who want to ban violent games have just as much of a leg to stand on.

Obviously, violent video games should be banned as well.

That's not what I'm getting at. It's the people who turn these kind of threads into "All anime fans are pedophiles" shit that should not be allowed.
Well those people are idiots then.

This thread is focused on the moe/loli crowd. The stuff that has taken a back seat to the creepy shit mlp fans have been cranking out recently, but still just as creepy as its always been.

Even what you're saying is going a bit far.

Moe =/= Loli

A lot of those moe shows are genuinely for little girls. Even for the older fans, the appeal isn't sexual.

look, cp needs to be illegal and if they get it passed together thats a good thing. You can work on sorting out the other gray half later.

Oh the ole patriot act angle, I like it. Let's just mow down everything, we'll get back to the stuff we fucked up... promise.

Repression doesn't work. I wouldn't say that this kind of content normalizing a certain kind of sexual attraction is a 'good' thing, but I'm pretty sure that nothing being said about it and it being vilified is a bad thing. There are ways of taming the mind but it generally involves recognizing your personal reality without delusion and a certain degree of moral conviction with the ability to forgive yourself for your failings, etc. It's a lot more arduous and difficult than just pretending it doesn't exist. Pornography of a certain kind might enable a certain kind of moral failing and people can use stuff like that to enable negative habits or attitudes, but it's not even remotely comparable to actual abuse. From a moral and speculative perspective I think this is pretty ambiguous.

Laws like this are driven more by a hatred/disgust of pedophiles than a desire to protect children. There's no evidence to suggested animated child pornography increases sexual violence. If anything, I'd wager it decreases it by providing an outlet for sexual release that doesn't harm anybody.

If someone who is attracted to children is able to look at animated porn to get off and keeps away from actual children, there is no legitimate reason for anyone to have a problem with that.

Hyperbole much. I hate slippery slopes, but you would really fight if you were a Japanese citizen over some hand drawn smut?

I like how you equate moe with loli when someone can be clearly over the age of 18 and still be moe.

Moe also isn't sexualized.

It's kinda odd though, I mean you can't download cocaine but, someone could easily send you cp with a text or on a random chat site that supports images and now that the image is in your cache you go to jail and are a sex offender.

If someone randomly sends you a link to child porn you should just report it and leave whatever the site is/delete the message

Laws like this aren't made to catch people that get sent random shit and it gets stored in their cache, they're made to stop people that have collections of hundreds of images, and is no different to any other law that the majority of countries that ban child porn has

Nothing odd about it.

Sure. It's a bullshit decision, and I'll call out a bullshit decision.

If I side that violent video games shouldn't be banned because it's not a crime, just a depiction of a crime then I'd be a god damn hypocrite to champion this stuff. Would I care that it's gone? No. But I do care for the reason it would be gone.

It's probably good to note that a lot of the stuff that gets out their is made by teens texting each other and it just gets out into the wild.

I'm sorry I pissed you off or offended you for attacking animated porn of little children. I'm sure you'll still be able to jack off to it, at least until this passes.

I'd count this as something explicit even if it shows no nudity.

Sick.
If its not explicit it technically shouldn't be considered worse than Nabokovs Lolita.
Btw that book has a scene where the main character grinds against an underage girl until he comes in his pants.

moe != loli. Whether or not you (or anybody else) think moe is creepy is completely irrelevant.

I don't understand why people are celebrating as if all under 18 characters will disappear from anime shows or something.

It's also not as if they watch it either. Just looks like random people chiming in to take a shot at the normal fans under the guise of doing good.

Is this really for "loli" as everyone keeps saying?

I assumed that it was to put an end to Japans very healthy "Junior Idol" market. Real teenagers posing in swimsuits and stuff.

All of that "Under 18 Model" stuff is pretty filthy, seems to have been shut down in the United States, but seems to be really active in Japan and Eastern Europe still.

It's always very easy to start the censorship ball rolling by targeting something a majority of people dislike. After all, who will oppose that? If you do, clearly you must be a supporter and advocate of the bad thing itself.

Goddamn GAF. Missing the forest for the trees here.

You defend things that you're not emotionally invested in (in this case loli), because only the logic matters. As will be the case when it gets to something that you're attached to.

The logic here is, child porn with REAL VICTIMS is been conflated with hentai child porn WITHOUT REAL VICTIMS. They're literally been put on the same level.

So that there's no longer a concern for the nature of the harm. That's literally now less important, than simply the emotional disgust and revulsion we have for an idea.

Do you not see how absurd that is?

Outlaw all the things we have an emotional disgust and revulsion for? And you guys wonder why republicans push so hard to keep homosexuality down.

Possessing actual child porn is still legal there right now, so this is at least a step forward. The junior idol stuff will go untouched, which is terrible.

The lack of a distinction between 'real' cp and drawn material is what's troubling, though. And with the very light penalties, there's fears that this is just posturing (and will impact fiction far moreso than, well, actual children being molested).

Yeah, or present a claim that it's somehow not 'real' censorship.

I wish there was a way to know what effect this stuff has on people. As art, if it satisfies them enough to not want to harm real people.

And we'd be wrong to assume all who consume this fictional material are would-be pedophiles.

I love me a good slasher flick. I get a thrill when I see the violence. I am not a would-be murderer.

I am guessing yes since animu people do not look like real people, there are hyper idealized people.

No where near people.

There are plenty of people with who feel sexuality towards cartoon versions of things but not the real version.

You Mr.Detective are a good example of 1 group.

That's what I am trying to say here.

If you can't draw the line between reality and entertainment here, then where do you draw it?

And what if research came out that showed a direct link between legality of loli porn and a decrease in sexual assault against minors? Would you be for it?
I would be very skeptical of the study. Does your urge to have sex with women go down just because you can view porn?

Its mainly about the cultural perception. As it is, there's a part of Japan where its become a bit of a fetish to sexualize young girls. Creating a law that discourages this puts a big old sign up to the people saying, "We dont think this is ok, so stop it."

Isn't that the same argument used against violence in video games or other forms of media?
There's a difference between violent criminal behavior and sexual urge. They dont work the same way.

From my current state of understanding - lowers libido by satiating urges, but causes attitudinal shifts.

In other words, people are bigger assholes, but do less harm when exposed to porn.

You are taking the context out of everything.

In this situation, bringing up that argument is valid.

I don't even know what this means, but it feels like some misplaced aggression.

It isn't aggression, its a joke a bout neon colored anthropomorphic horses.

World map of child pornography laws
Green - Possession of child pornography legal
Orange - Possession of child pornography illegal
Red - Possession of any kind of pornography illegal
White - Data unavailable

The United Nations Optional Protocol on the Rights of the Child requires states to outlaw the "producing, distributing, disseminating, importing, exporting, offering, selling or possessing for the above purposes" of child pornography.[82] The Council of Europe's Cybercrime Convention and the EU Framework Decision that became active in 2006 require signatory or member states to criminalize all aspects of child pornography.[8]

Allowing the possession of child pornography is not a common occurrence in western society, and allowing it encourages the production of it.
