"WORLD EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United on the brink of mega deal for Cristiano Ronaldo reunion

MANCHESTER UNITED are locked in advanced talks to clinch the stunning return of Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford.

United and Real Madrid have spent the past 12 days negotiating an £80m package – and the Premier League champions are increasingly confident of getting their man.

David Moyes made his move two weeks ago when the club heard through the grapevine Madrid had stepped up their interest in signing Gareth Bale.

And for the first time they found their Spanish rivals prepared to negotiate after the player told them he would be interested in returning to England.

New United chief executive Ed Woodward made contact with Real president Florentino Perez in the knowledge Ronaldo had yet to agree and extension to his current deal at the Bernabau which has just two years left to run.

Starsport understands Perez then sought assurances Ronaldo would commit to the new deal – and was stunned to learn he was keen on returning to Manchester instead.

That forced them to open up to United’s advances, knowing they would only get a fraction of the fee for one of the world’s best players if he stayed another season.

It also explains why they are prepared to break the world record to ensure they clinch the signing of Tottenham star Bale in an effort to appease fans worried by Ronaldo’s departure.

United's move for Ronaldo has been sparked by talk of Gareth Bale joining Madrid
United have been happy to talk openly about their interest in Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, with speculation surrounding that transfer meaning work on the Ronaldo move could be done without fuss in the background.

In a highly complicated package, Starsport understands some of the money in terms of wages will be offset by American car giants General Motors making the Portugal star their global ambassador.

Chevrolet, owned by GM, become United’s principal club sponsors at the end of the season and see Ronaldo as the ideal man to boost their image globally, and in North and South America during World Cup year.

Kit manufacturers Nike have also been kept informed, as Ronaldo is one of their main sporting ambassadors.

The bid for Real ace is one of the reasons why Wayne Rooney’s proposed move to Chelsea has been held up.

Despite public claims they do not want to sell the wantaway England star, United would be willing to do business once they can get in a marquee signing of their own. Madrid have stepped up their interest in Bale this week. "
I want to believe ='(

He has the confidence of the majority of madrid men, only here and certain areas does he lack support. It matters not. Benzema has the confidence of Carlo and Zidane, and that's all that really matters. You will see the light soon enough. Or maybe never. Oh well.
Just do not be spiteful when Benz scores and performs well. That would be silly and very sad to witness. and I have witnessed many who are against benz who were spiteful when Benz does well for madrid. and boy twas sad to witness.

I actually misread on the last bit so nvm. However, I have been insulted before on footygaf and though I do not care what you say of me, my missus is a different story.

Dude, Im not stupid enough to not be happy if Benzema is banging in goals left and right wtf.

He bags us the Decima and Ill fucking get his named tatooed on my balls

Of course, Madrid is the only club in the world who has the power to make the best players in the world leave the teams they play for.

That's not what I said. I've been watching all the pre-season games, all the practise videos and photos and there's nothing there that would make you jump to a such conclusion that he's leaving. And I'm talking about this summer window.

Telegraph and Mirror say the Bale deal has been struck at £105m.

Holy shit (if true).

Presumably just regurgitating the AS story.

Great money if true. Perez is truly insane, we're lucky we're dealing with a joke club.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with Costa many times in the past. Maybe Liverpool are bidding on him so Arsenal panic about missing two transfer targets (by Liverpool leaking to the press that signing Costa does not mean Suarez will be sold) and buy Costa and back off Suarez.

Roberto Soldado has revealed he felt he had to leave Valencia because he had been lied to by club president Amaedo Salvo.

The 28-year-old spoke out after agreeing to move to Tottenham Hotspur for a £25.8 million club-record deal and he pulled no punches when discussing his reasons.

As he prepared to fly out of Valencia airport to head for his Tottenham medical in London, Soldado was relishing the move but he was also strongly critical of Salvo.

"I'm very hopeful," he said. "But I'm leaving Valencia after three unforgettable years. But it's a new project and a new change in my life for me and my family.

"It is a good deal for Valencia and for me. All this time I didn't say a word to not harm Valencia's club image and the transfer itself until everything was totally clear.

"I'm leaving because I don't trust in the new (Valencia) project. The president all this time was telling me lies several times since I talked to him on the phone.

"I think the deal could have been done with sincerity but it was not.

"I wish Valencia all the best. They will always be in my heart.

"This decision was mine entirely and my family, no-one was pushing me to go."

Well as long as I make that clear its fine. No seriously, there have been madrid men cursing to no end whenever Benz does well and scores just because they want a new striker and want Benz gone.

Benzema will prevail. just needs more time to get rid of that rust. and observing psg match, he has plenty of rust to get rid of, he is very rusty.

I love how your tune has changed from "no chance in hell Bale is leaving this summer" to insulting our club

You should be thanking us, you fucking fruit, we're the whole reason you should presumably be able to make it into the CL next season. That is if Levy buys right.

If Madrid let Ronaldo leave they are more stupid than even I imagined. Bale is good but he's played one season in the CL. He is not ready to take that mantle yet.

lol

My opinion changed when the player's opinion changed. When he was happy to stay, I said he would. When it became obvious he changed his mind, I changed mine.

Barcelona is the factor here. Barca could probably make Madrid go bankrupt. Just buy a whole team of stars for high fees and Madrid will self-implode

Just think what we could've done that money.

Sigh
It's stupid but let's be honest here, we knew something like this was coming the moment Barca signed Neymar. Would have rather taken Falcao/Cavani lol.

edit: yeah CR7 leaving would be insane. We'd get weaker, not stronger.

Lamela, Mcmanaman, Chiriches.

Those are the three we should buy. Probably cost £50m in fees but they would be the right players.

So.... Who can Tottenham buy with that money?

Best case scenario: They've already spent half on their summer transfers and the rest is going on the new training ground.

Worst case scenario: They buy a world class player to replace Bale, sign another bunch of class players, and storm up the league.

I fear the latter..

Spurs can't attract any world class players.

Certainly if you can bring in those three, Spurs will be a hell of a force next season.

Both AVB and Rodgers seem hellbent on making sure their respective squads as balanced and deep as possible. Obviously something they picked up under Mourinho's tenure, and probably likely to pay dividends for both in the long run.

Also, John Cross is starting to write some embarrasing stuff now.

Uh weird we'd be linked with him. Anyway he's not that much better than our current Arse strikers/wingers
ok maybe a bit better
although he was showing some rather good football at the end of the season.

Ronaldo is not renewing his contract, if they want to cash on him now is the time. He is not getting any younger.

Indeed. He wants 100% image rights, flo is not giving in. Whole point to signing Bale is to ensure we are covered if CR7 does leave.

I doubt manutd would provide the cash for the deal to happen though. Al Kelaifi and Flo are on good terms iirc...
