I wonder how many people will buy vita for RP alone. Makes me also wonder if Vita sales pickup if more devs will make vita games.
Why wouldn't it be directly downsampled from the native resolution of the game?
PS4>router>Vita works well and as long as you aren't on the very edge of your router's range (which for me is like 2 houses away) you'll be fine though there is slightly more latency this way. But I do mean slightly. We're still talking 1 to 2 frames... there are MANY tvs that have a higher latency than this.

Bunch of pretty info
I'd be in the bathroom for days.
I don't get it, what are the advantages or remote play ? I seem to be missing something here...
You need to be hooked to your ps4 ? Whats the point ?
edit : I'll get my ps4 on friday, im just curious, not trolling.

Yup. Vita redeemed indeed. Will it work like this if I am in the next room over running over wifi? If so this is Vita Redeemed.
You don't need to be hooked to your PS4 via cable if that is what you mean? And it's great if you have other people that want to use the TV
Also, I think someone on the first page said "get the oled while you can." My understanding, and I can be wrong, is that the OLED is going to remain as the 3G vita (at a higher price, of course). The vita 2k will be wifi only and cheaper.

I'm surprised they are still offering the 3G. I thought they would have stopped manufacturing that ages ago since I've seen plenty of 3G sales (sometimes cheaper than the Wifi model) which lead me to believe it was performing poorly.
Absolutely my point. There is almost no way they could have set that up with minimal interference.

It's downsampled twice afaik.
The game is rendered at whatever on the PS4, the PS4 then downsamples to 720 for the stream, and then the Vita will downsample that to 544 when it displays it.
I do not believe that the PS4 will alter it's downsample target dependant on which device is connected to it (Vita or Vita TV)
really? seems weird. wouldn't it just make more sense to actually render at the target resolution and skip all the downsampling all together?

Why do you think the PS4 review event had the remote play set up through the router and now directly (ad hoc) to the ps4? or did IGN just incorrectly assume it was through the network?

Even though I have PC version I feel I should buy on PS4 + a vita lol
That's a really good sign.
For the longest I debated selling my Vita... Soooooo glad I held out..
Mission accomplished...
Put Kaz's face in place of Bush's
Likely because the Sony instructions say that the best conditions are with th ePS4 wired to your router. Likely because whatver WiFi your router sends out is stronger than whatever your PS4 does.

Why bother, a downsampled 1080p image on a 544p screen will look bloody awesome lol.
But wasn't the best way meant to be a direct connection to the ps4. I thought connecting through a router came in at second place?

well if they can shave even a few ms of latency off by not having to downsample i'd prefer that option
Downsampling has to occur since the PS4's resolution is higher than the Vita's. Having the PS4 downsample to 720p is probably done to reduce the bandwidth requirements for the streaming.

well i meant, why not just have the ps4 natively render the game at vita resolution so it can just be compressed and piped out instead of rendering at 720p then downsampling to 544p then compressing
I can't believe how hyped you guys are for this incredibly lame gimmick. I mean, why would you want this? If you're playing a console game you really need to be doing it on the biggest screen possible.
Look, here I am pretending to be a Wii U hater.
Yes I'm salty at the hypocrisy here.

Well yeah, obviously. But direct connections would have been better than over a network, even in these conditions.

Downsampling makes the Wii U gamepad look clearer than half the Vita's games. So it's far from atrocious. Range, I'll give them.Plenty liked the WiiUs feature. Just not it's limited range, limited support and low res screen (lower res than Vita on larger screen).
They should just do whatever Nintendo does with the Gamepad, because it doesn't matter what resolution the game runs at, it's still faster than 90% of TVs out there. Can't remember if it's 16ms, or just slightly over, but it certainly isn't 33ms or higher.
