According To Canon, Which Final Fantasy Characters Are The Most Powerful?

I definitely put too much time into making this post...

Dissidia made the Warrior of Light face Garland twice, Sephiroth, the Emperor, Ultimecia, and Squall all equally without taking damage. Outside of Squall he is the only one cutscene wise to not be outclassed by his opponent in skill. In Dissidia 012 he is last standing hero against a horde of Manikins that killed every other character off. My vote goes to him if counting those games.

A nice point, but Shantotto was the one that Cosmos had as her last line of defense - until Shantotto figured out the whole thing risked affecting her memories and ditched that gig.
Powerful and outsmarting that mess.

Also, every battle lost as her in the game isn't actually her, but a decoy doll she controls remotely, so she doesn't even have to be there to be victorious.

Most Powerful? I think you should give this one to Kuja. Think about it:

- He's the only character in the game to destroy a whole world.
- He's the only villain who remains undefeated until the end of FF9's story.
- His version of Ultima is the strongest version in Final Fantasy history.

But who was Necron?

Shantotto is just a rhyming chipmunk version of Dr. Doom.

Soulcage. Or if you want to be reaching shoot for Necrophobe.

All the player characters are pretty much the same in power to be honest. It's the villains that make for interesting comparisons. Kefka would have to be at the top or at least near it as he becomes... God? The God? Or just a god? I dunno, look at him.

Sephiroth summons a meteor from beyond the milky way (his reach is that huge) that destroys several planets in the solar system before smacking into the sun forcing it to supernova whose explosion consumes the rest of the solar system.

And while the blast for some reason inches towards the earth, he just floats there while the super nova consumes him and it doesn't even hurt him.

Also, fun fact... the sun is more than 1,000,000 times larger than Earth, just to put this feat into perspective.

eh, ultimecia collapsing all space and time into a singularity that only she can survive is probably the better feat.

Time compression is the concept of condensing all of time and space into a single moment, or "singularity". It can be initiated by the casting of a spell, which requires incredible power on behalf of the caster(s) and places them at the center of said singularity. By compressing the entire universe in this manner and placing herself at the center of it, Ultimecia would assimilate all of creation into herself, then use her sorceress power to recreate everything according to her desires.

Ultimecia's spell affects time and space, an event which Squall and his party are relying on to reach Ultimecia's future and stop her before she can finish what she started. When time and space begin to compress, Squall and his allies watch the world turn upside-down (similar to a Salvador Dali painting) as a thousand different kinds of space from a thousand different points in time begin to fuse together all around them, and they must "swim" through the psychedelic landscape to reach Ultimecia. Because time and space are merging, moving through space allows the party to also move through time, and by utilizing this aspect of the halfway-completed time compression, Ultimecia is reached and defeated.

Ultimecia is probably the most overpowered villain in FF history. selphie can still kill her singlehandedly.

Lightning. Despite people's ridiculous hatred for her, she's a very fun character to use in battle. Her "One-Man Army" move is truly effective at combating large group of enemies.

I'd say Caius is a pretty strong "mortal." Granted a heart that lets him live forever, and power over...whatever Chaos is. Even without these powers, he's a formidable swordsman that knows powerful magic abilities. He can also turn into a powerful version of Bahamut (ccurious why they didn't outright call it Tiamat actually). And lets not forget he was able to best Lightning in battle (going by the vanilla ending, not Reqium which I haven't played.)

In fact, if he wasn't tethered to Lightning's trilogy, he'd be a damn good FF character.

A bunch of people surviver it with THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP. Think about it.

Not to mention she couldn't do shit by herself and she had to rely on Squall and co. to finish her plan.
