nevermind, googled him

If that's all that happened then why the hell is she shrieking about it now? No harassment or assault occurred that would warrant such an outburst.

This is why I think #metoo should end. Too many opportunistic scumbags are using it to ruin people with accusations and not evidence. Bill Burr summed it up well.

I love how people love to quote Bill Burr on stuff like this.....the man is clearly way more liberal than most people here would think.

Remember guys. Just don't say a word to women in an elevator. We need to reassure them we're not there to rape them

This shit is why Shannon Sharpe says that if he's going to use an elevator and sees a woman alone in one he just says "No thanks, I'll take the next one"

Yes, Bill Burr is way more liberal than people realize. He just loves to call bullshit when he sees it and thank god for him doing that. He also hates trump and recently annihilated Joe Rogan when Rogan was calling men “bitches” for not wearing masks for covid.

He isn’t misogynistic - he just knows that some people are full of shit, women and men both. Any logical person who is actually a critical thinker should come to the same conclusion.

What a fucking crazy world this turned into. Now even being a gentleman is a crime.

I am more concerned about folks like StillNotSam who insinuate normal interactions as predatory actions. Clearly mental and should be seeking psychiatry, but as we can see, people will instantly believe and promote that degeneracy.

Just waiting for the slacktivists to come out of the wood work to defend her and rip on Chris. We already saw one pop in within the past few posts.

Yes, anyone would - but logical thinking is hard, especially for those trying to craft a silly narrative like he tried and failed spectacularly to do.

Yup.

People like Bill Burr, Jim Jefferies, Dave Chapelle, or even George Carlin are able to walk that tightrope of "edgy" comedy is because they intimately understand the social dynamics of the types of things they make jokes about. Their comedy comes from empathy.

They all have pretty much the same stance on the Metoo / cancel culture jokes -- it's necessary, but is so obviously exploitable.

the joke is that people refuse to acknowledge that it's exploitable. Not that the movement itself is stupid.

The problem is whether he did or didn't do something doesn't even matter, people will now hate him with no evidence whatsoever of wrongdoing, because that's how the world works these days.

I don't know how any celebrity could even date a total stranger anymore. Gotta live in constant fear that if you do the slightest thing they'll perceive it as evil, even if it's just calling a girl pretty, that's sexual harassment now. When feelings hijack the sociopolitical spectrum, reality is rendered obsolete.

Evilore, if you have any clout on twitter with Avellone. Please tell him he has the right to remain silent and to keep his mouth shut.

These witchhunters will be the end of his career if he's not careful.

(Unsurprising) Backstabbing continues

People he knew, people he worked with. Zero restraint to immediately go *believe her*.

After years of silence that's all she could come up with?

People are showing support and saying they believe her like she's a victim but a victim OF WHAT? Nothing happened to her? He left the restaurant and her friend had to pay I guess? That's the crime?

Can you get arrested for that in USA? lol

I've been up and down through that twitter thread 3 times truing to find out what he did that was so dastardly. But other than not taking advantage I don't see what he did wrong

I'm getting the feeling she's pissed that he didn't make a move

The groping accusations sound pretty serious, and the guy may actually have some serious alcohol issues, but I don't see how that is any of our business. If anything criminal happened behind the scenes that's for the police to investigate, but this moral posturing on the internet just seems wrong. Twitter lynchings are not raising awareness over anything, if anything they draw attention away from real problems by dragging them down to the level of a common spectacle. It's just a chance for random people to feel like heroes/victims without actually going through the hardship the real thing would entail. Basically consumerism, mass produced drama at other people's expenses.

Anybody ever consider these people never go to the authorities as they have nothing to back up their accusations?

Of something that is somewhat true.

This whole thing only gets more cryptic the longer it goes.

He's got a drinking problem, he's had/s a midlife crisis for the past few years. Both of those things have been known for a while without anyone screaming bloody murder. So, why is he getting cancelled over things a lot of us could get cancelled over? Where and what's his actual crime?

I had no idea who this guy was before any of this, btw

If you're into WRPG's he's among the very top of the list when it comes to designers/writers, but he hasn't made an actual game in a while so not surprising.

This is where social media needs to be held responsible. If they're going to "fact check" selective posts they need to fact check all posts. And if someone makes damaging allegations like this and they can't be proven and are found false it should fall not only on the accuser but the site that allowed them a platform to do it. Shit would start getting cleaned up real quick.

Edit- also, fuck this woman.

I don't believe a single word of the accuser. Fuck that bitch.
I don't either. It reads so phony. I know it's hard to express yourself on Twitter but the way the message is written doesn't sound like a person who was deeply upset about an incident would write.

It sounds like more someone had Gabe her the wrong change in a shop or someone keyed her car.
I.... Am... Livid!!

Nobody says that after a sexual assault im sorry.

Guys, he drove her to introduce him to one of her friends with his gentlemanly behaviour:
The entire con. I did not get drunk with him again, and he was a gentleman about my refusals, including the one where I was drunk off my ass, and when he escorted me to the subway station at 4:30am the morning I left to go home. That kind behavior is what not only kept me in denial about what was actually going on, but drove me to introduce him to one of my best friends, who then endured over a year of heartache, gaslighting, and emotional abuse at his hands. It was much easier to see then, and ALL of us who knew what was going on told her to get out. Eventually, she did, but not before he raged out of a restaurant-

This whole thing is all hearsay and exaggerations.

Finally something substantial

So, he was badly sexting to a married women over DM in 2014. Probably drunk from the looks of it, still a sleazebag move. It's something, nowhere near anything people need to end his career or really anything that should be aired over the internet (especially since she apparently *forgave* him, which means he did apologize for that already.), but..... something?

well, even if he never did something illegal he certainly got the wrong people, or women mad/sad/whatever. He fucked up big time.

Remember guys this is a man's world!

I've said this for a long time now: There's a huge rift between lower class real life and the public internet/media world.

Yes, when you go outside to dumb parties (I'm an introvert, so I'm calling 'em dumb ;P), when you look at workers, when you look at the less civilized parts of the world in the middle east, south east asia, africa, THEN men tend to dominate.
But then take a look at the INTERNET that people go to for discussion, information, entertainment every day: All non-right wing media one-sidedly supports women and lgbt. Social media sites, especially Twitter, encourage the "court of public opinion" and easily ban your account when you're not a total feminist. And authoritarian left feminist can behave in the most unhinged, toxic ways: They NEVER see repercussions to their behavior, see ResetEra that ruined so many people's lives, see Zoe Quinn that drove Alec Holowka into suicide, see the obnoxious "believe women" mantra they follow.

The "real world" might favor men a bit. But the digital world (aka the one that matters in the year 2020) is dominated by women, lgbt and other minorities. Men expressing differing opinions? Off with their head.

Things we've lost due to nobody daring to speak up against this:

- creative freedom is on its way out (Sony censorship being celebrated,, offensive content being made taboo)
- Variety of opinion (stray off the path and you'll be cancelled)
- Individuality (everybody "must" be part of some group now and is judged by that group's perceived image)
- Men expressing their heterosexuality (doing so is now harassment/assault, if the chosen woman isn't into you)
- Politics are more of a joke than ever (Democrats supporting a rapist and the crazies voting for him, only to get Trump out. What a standard ...)
- career safety (unless you completely shut up, building yourself a career in any of the modern media isn't worth it, because years of work will be canceled in a single day)
- The law system is taken out of the equation ("innocent until proven guilty" is now looked upon as an alt-right, misogynistic thing to say. Instead of waiting for facts and evidence, the court of public opinion decides over mens fate)
- debate culture on movies is dead (People calling those who dislike the Star Wars-sequel trilogy or Ghostbusters 2016 shit are being labeled alt-right)
- and so on

What's maybe the worst of all? REAL criminals getting away. You know, the scum that actually RAPES and ruins lives. Because let's focus on those who have differing opinions on the internet. Let's ruin those who like anime tiddies. We've never had as much sexual criminality and child porn activity as nowadays, but instead of adressing it, the auth left keeps focusing on internet discussion areas. Fuck this planet.

EDIT:

Fuck me, just saw this thread pop up over there at the crazies. I'm not a Justin Bieber-fan in the slightest, but this is just too frustratingly unfair:

EDIT #2:

OMG, he was BANNED for this perfectly reasonable posting!

It's a cringe message and morally inappropriate, but if we're cancelling people's lives over cringe flirt messages now, then we can just end the world right now.

He was obviously very drunk judging by the quick apology 8 hours later. Not saying it was right or wrong. But it gotta count for something. Heavy drinking and texting is .......not great.
