No karma system is a win in my book. But all indications are that isn't in FO4 either, so we're basically left without any reptuation/morality system to roleplay with.

NV's rep system was way better than Karma, it actually made sense in the world

In my second Fallout 3 playthrough I practiced Extreme Cannibalism.. I wasn't just a cannibal, I wanted to be history's greatest cannibal. I was eating every NPC I came across (other than the immune ones, of course) and as I consumed a town or settlement I'd mark it off on a map I was sharing with my friends.
I hope there's cannibalism in 4.
no, Fallout games are completely self contained
Shouldn't be an issue. There might be some callbacks you miss, but the games are mostly standalone.
Sorry, was one of the plenty of features that made the game.Karma made the game? Really?
But stealing the bad guys instant mash is also evil karma. You can steal a raider's purified water, give it to a dying man, and you'd still be a little bit evil.
Absolutely no need to bitch about its removal. Again, role playing. You know in your head if something you do is evil.
How about you THINK about what you just said yourself first? What you said is basically a confirmation of what i said. Think about your scenario, you talk to the person again after picking that one option, the one you picked is greyed out right? So where is the room for a new topic? There isn't one, since you have to "end" the current topic first.

No reputation system at all?
Because that's how Fallout 3/New Vegas worked right? Wait no it didn't. It did the exact same thing bringing you right back to the original set of responses.
Some reputation system is in the game. How it works or if it's just for companions isn't known.
Skills are tied into perks now. Well except repair. That's gone.
The gift that keeps on giving. The player said that he did not really enjoy the dialogue system in the game. And that in 23 hours he faced very few missions in which he wasnt able to get out of a situation by through dialogue. There is a similar friendship system to that in Dragon Age and Mass Effect games. However there is no visible karma system. The in-game statistics also did not have any indicators for your reputation. So the reputation system will likely work in a similar way to Skyrims the player speculated.
I wonder where bethesda's streamlining will end. When their games are just fps'?
NV's rep system was way better than Karma, it actually made sense in the world
I'm from Canada and I get it.I guess I have to be an US citizen to understand this...
Gosh who knows. It's a scary world we live in. It could almost be argued WE'RE in the post-apocalypse.I wonder where bethesda's streamlining will end. When their games are just fps'?
Aren't those the old impressions? Last I heard, the leader's opinion on the dialogue system had improved more over time.
Wait for Fallout 5. It'll be another shooter. And people will praise it because of reasons. "Who needs levels, locations and even dialogs when you can shoot stuff"I wonder where bethesda's streamlining will end. When their games are just fps'?
There is!
I didn't know where else to ask this since that PS4 screenshot thread was locked but I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on which version of Fallout 4 to get. I have both a PS4 and XBO and my PC isn't adequate so which console version is looking to be the best?
I know that the XBO version is supposed to have some added mod support I think???
And I'm also wondering the performance difference, are they both 1080p 30fps?
Any other pros and cons?
No game is safe from Gaf hyberolic reaction.
I will also repeat for the millionth time that Mr Kojima deserves a fucking medal for the buddy system in MGSV. Be it the horse, Ddog, Quiet and even Dwalker, every buddy option worked wonderfully and never became a hindrance during gameplay. Especially regarding the Horse and Dog I dont think i have ever played a game that had an equally enjoyable buddy such as MGSV.
While Neogaf isn't actually a monolith and we have a variety of opinions here, the overall feeling of my experience reading Fallout 4 threads over the past couple days is a swirling vortex of gleeful negativity, and I don't understand it. As a long time fan of Bethesda games and someone who has day one'd each Bethesda RPG since Morrowind, I haven't seen anything yet that bothers me. I can't wait for tuesday! That's why the texture of Neogaf feels so odd. I don't know from what seed this enthusiastic hatred of the game and this rush to come to negative conclusions based on little or no information grows.
So they removed:
- Extensive dialog options
- Proper skill assignment on level up
- Repair
- Reputation system
What else?
bombs fell. civilized world is over (well, at least civilized north america, Im waiting for the europe Fallout where everything is still fine lol), welcome to the post apocalypse. honestly thats all the lore you need
Forums need drama, people need things to discuss beyond just "I really want to play this game!"
I remember when, during the week before The Witcher 3's release, people were going crazy over the graphics downgrade. They spent dozens of pages tearing apart every fuzzy LOD texture and counting the quantity of pubic hairs on a monster's taint. There was rage, calls for the cancellation of preorders, vitriolic tweets and emails towards CDPR employees demanding apologies for their lies.
And now everyone is looking at Fallout 4 and going "Lol Bethesda you shittards why can't you make a competent looking game like Witcher?"
I'll say here what I said in those Witcher threads: Morrowind isn't perfect, Skyrim isn't perfect. Red Dead, GTAV, The Last of Us, Bioshock, all imperfect. Every one of last gen's potential GOATS could be picked apart for having some pretty major failings... but they're still all incredible games.
Fallout 4 will do many things that make it GOAT-worthy in the eyes of many avid Fallout fans. It will also do things that prevent some genre veterans from getting into it at all. That's okay. It isn't the last game in the series, so take the good with the bad and hope that, if you end up unsatisfied, Bethesda does things differently next time.
Well, there it is. Now the question is whether I go cannibal on my first play or second.
What in the hell are you talking about? We're arguing logical points, visibly detrimental, against a game in a series that started as a life-or-death Role-Playing-Game. Now it looks as if the series has turned into a theme park ride. For those of us who have followed this series for over a decade, there is all the time in the world for fans to air their grievances.
No karma, either? Yeah, let's keep pretending that Bethesda's games haven't been regressing with each new release.

We aight.
Fucking really? Hahahaha hahaha now they're shitting on the Fallout lore/story/universe. Holy shit! Way to go, Bethesda.. Wait a second, they already shat on everything in F3. Nvm, then.Power armor as a suit of armor. It is now more akin to a vehicle you climb into.
Not sure how I feel about that one to be honest.

Seriously tho, instead of getting around the tenth time in a US city, a Europe Fallout would be great.
That site still hasn't updated the full perk info btw., you can check the updated full list at http://orcz.com/Fallout_4:_Perk_Chart

I fully expect VATS to be gone in Fallout 5 and there will be some saying it was never needed and a pointless addition to the game.

Concerning the dog, there are tons of solutions in order to both retain the videogame side of gameplay, while at the same time making it more believable.
Dog could roll, have an animation (i know asking for extra animations in a Bethesda game must be considered blasphemous by now...) or at the very least produce some kind of audio effect that resembles pain.

After Ddog (animation and interaction) the dog in Fallout looks like a bad joke. At least DD was believable in his reactions, movement etc
But hey its Bethesda, these things are so unimportant for them to bother with...
