It will happen when they're ready to showcase new things.
It's pointless to play this game with insiders (fake or not).
Certainly there will be something between now and September also to announce the PS5 Pro.

Insomniac would need 5-9 teams if that were true. They are certainly the exception though.
No, they always have development times similar to any other AAA team. Normally had 3-4 teams at the same time since ages ago, occasionally 5 when overlapping having small amount of people shipping a game plus a small amount of people in the preproduction of another one.

This is their whole game design team:
  • 1 Lead combat designer
  • 1 Lead level designer
  • 1 Senior level designer
  • 1 Game designer
Basically means they are a support team making -in terms of game design, in terms of art and coding may be helping in more areas- new stages/levels and attacks/weapons for a game with combat as could be pretty much any upcoming GoWR or open world Sony game.

has this dude ever predicted something correctly in the last 6 months?
like 90% of what he predicts is correct. Ya'll are so dramatic sometimes
Like any of us, he is correct in vague easy assumptions like "Sony should have a State of Play" soon when the last one was many years ago because they have one every few months. Or "Sony will have a showcase in the following months" because they have one almost every summer. Or [insert any studio that released their last game some years ago and didn't show anything until then] is working on a new game to be shown soon (obvious unless they shut down the studio).

But when making specific "leaks" (personal guesses) like "theres a new Sly in the works" (a couple years ago Sucker Punch said there wasn't any Sly game in the works there or in any other studio and that there wasn't plans to bring back the IP) or "Sony will have a Showcase/State of Play this month" he is normally wrong, unless he's lucky or copypasted it from a proper leaker like The Snitch.

You're kidding yourself if you think Grubb just makes "vague easy assumptions like any of us".

Grubb has correctly predicted exactly, to the time and date, when Nintendo Directs, the Xbox Games Showcase, the PS5 reveal, etc.. etc.. would occur, oftentimes predicting weeks in advance.

He also leaked the Multiversus game and details about it, the Mass Effect Remasters, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, the Fable reboot, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, the EA Play/Game Pass merge, Forza Horizon 5 taking place in Mexico, Starfield being exclusive to Xbox/PC, etc.. etc..

That's just off the top of my head. Dude clearly has insider knowledge. Of course he doesn't always get it right though. No one does.

He had some assumpions/predictions right, and copy pasted leaks from other ones. As an example, from The Snitch, who -as far as I know- is the only leaker who always has been right.

Sony would have already announced that there isn't a Showcase or SOP, like they did 2022. There is 100% something next week. Most likely a SOP

Sony announced in recent years their Showcases/big summer State of Play a week before they are made. In the past maximum 2 weeks.

Their showcases normally are in June ("E3"/"pre-E3" days) with a few rare exceptions being made in May or in September (or 2022, where they didn't have showcase at all due to pandemic).

They didn't announce it today, so pretty likely there won't be Showcase this month.

I think it's more likely to expect an announcement May 30th to have it June 6th.

I just dont see a world where Sony wouldn't outright say or put it out through leaks that there is no event in May. It would be bad PR

Just pack it up and go home if its some State of Play.

Sony is fucking clueless right now.
The last State of Play was amazing for SoP standards.
  • Death Stranding 2: On The Beach
  • Physint (working title)
  • Stellar Blade
  • Rise of the Ronin
  • Helldivers 2
  • Until Dawn
  • Silent Hill 2
  • Silent Hill: The Short Message
  • Dragon's Dogma 2
  • Metro Awakening
  • Judas
Over half of the notable titles in there were Sony-published, and for this SoP word is that:
  • Concord
  • Astro Bot
  • LEGO Horizon Adventures
  • Horizon: Zero Dawn (remake)
  • Until Dawn
  • Gravity Rush 2 (remaster)
  • God of War: Ragnarök (PC)
  • Silent Hill 2
Are gonna be there, on top of any other potential surprises from usual Sony partners such as Capcom (Resident Evil Apocalypse, Monster Hunter Wilds), Bandai Namco (Ace Combat) or Konami (Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater).

That'd make for another incredibly good State of Play, while we wait for the PlayStation 5 Pro reveal that'd bring announcements of the next Santa Monica, Sucker Punch, Bend and Naughty Dog games under its wing, among other heavy-hitters.

There’s definitely something happening in the next two weeks.

I’m all in for a fully fledged Astrobot game in time for Christmas. There’s a chance here for a proper PS mascot if the game is as good as I hope. And I really, really hope that the soundtrack can match Astro’s Playroom.

Sony doesn't need to comment every single random stupid thing by all random "journalists" / blog contritors around the world. If you believe the guesses / predictions of one of them it's your fault, not theirs.

You being dissapointed because a fake "leaker" / "insider" lied to you has nothing to do with bad Sony PR. It just means are too naive believing random stuff said by a random guy who got a few guesses right and shared rumors he saw in internet.

LEGO Horizon Adventures
Horizon: Zero Dawn (remake)
The HZD remake source is a list full of fake info proven wrong, doesn't exist. Lego Horizon pretty likely is just a guess from someone who saw the Horizon Lego set that appeared in some Sony slides and thought it's a new videogame instead of just merchandising.

Sony said that Guerrilla is working instead in Horizon 3 and Horizon Online. Plus apparently is also codeveloping or overviewing an Horizon MP game for mobile, that may be a different one.

Literally, the majority of that are old games. How is that good by any metric?

Man, screw that. They've punted announcements of the heavy hitters for the last 2, going on 3 years.

They can either start showing what people actually want to see or bought the console for, or continue to lose sales momentum. Hint: it's not fucking indies, live services, (shitty) remakes, remasters of recent games or Lego spinoffs.

My point was they deliver games faster than any other studio, often they can be delivering a new game every year, and if not every two years.

That speed and their amount of devs teams doesn’t work with your 5-9 years.

As we 100% know they did in GoWR. That was the new project he was talking about there
Nope.

God Of War Ragnarok released November 2022

"Our next project, we're working on original content right now. We can't talk about what that is"

^ Sir, God Of War at that time was already announced 2020 as a thing, thus what they are talking about is something that has not been revealed yet.

They did not say they were supporting a project, they stated ..."our" next project, as in THEIR OWN thing.

Not Sony Santa Monica's game, even if that was the case, zero reason to be say "We can't talk about what it is" when the fucking game is already announced, revealed and known.

So unless you actually got a link to them literally saying supporting God Of War was what they were talking about, they are likely working on their own game and not someone elses
They can't be working leading a AAA game because they are only 75 people

They are more then 75 people and the team is growing.

Those beginning stages do not require thousands of people

I think they will continue working on a few new games as support team and later in the road will grow to lead their own AAA games, but not now.
LOL

I mean, sure, you needed them to say their "own" to get they mean something for themselves, hmmmmm let me see.

"Our next project, we're working on original content"

lol

So we need to hear them confirm this man, nothing I"ve seen points to their comments being about supporting a game already announced.

They never said to be working on a new game leaded by them.
They never said the game was a support role type thing either so....yea.

Its even funnier as you are saying "will grow to lead their own" and their own words literally say "OUR next project" lol

Do you have a link showing those comments where about God Of War? That isn't their "own" game btw

Also, why would they hide that they are supporting another game that is already announced? "We can't talk about what that is"

I mean, anyone would have made the guess that the company that makes only Astrobot is making another Astrobot and that it would be announced soon. This isn’t “good info”, it’s basic critical thinking.

No one is going to "guess" that they're going to show a new astrobot game in a specific month and release it in the same year. Don't be daft.

A new platforming game, 6 years after the debut entry, 4 years after the tech demo - announced around E3 time and to release later that year?

Anyone with passing knowledge of the industry could have made that guess.

Some of the Switch's most successful and iconic games have been remasters and remakes. If you make good games, you get to reap the benefits of them later on through re-releases, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with this philosophy. In fact, the most desired project by the PlayStation community is no other than a Bloodborne remaster or remake.

The Until Dawn and Gravity Rush communities are psyched about those upcoming re-releases, and both the Silent Hill 2 - fucking Silent Hill 2 - and Horizon: Zero Dawn remakes will be great launch titles and showcases of the PS5 Pro capabilities.

What the people bought the console for, they have already played: Spider-Man 2, Ragnarök, Forbidden West, Gran Turismo, Ratchet, Final Fantasy VII & XVI, Demon's Souls... and in the last three months alone the platform saw the release of both Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade and Helldivers 2.

And regarding Santa Monica, Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog, Housemarque, Bend and others, well, we all know they're working on new games, and in some cases even what those games actually are. Do you really need Ghost of Tsushima to be announced with a logo of the game and disappear for years as all the Xbox titles announced in 2020 did? That sort of thing can bite you in the ass - which Sony experienced first-hand with KOTOR - and you already have Wolverine serving as a beacon of what's coming down the line, no need to have the rest of the lineup unveiled in such premature state.

Sounds like there's a State of Play next week which will be focused on 2024 releases, so expect some of the following;

- Astro Bot
- Concord
- Silent Hill 2
- Destiny 2: The Final Shape
- GOW Ragnarok PC
- Other 3rd party stuff thats been shown before like Blue Protocol and Zenless Zone Zero.

Then there will be a Sony Showcase when the PS5 Pro is ready to revealed which will have actual announcements.

Funny seeing people carrying on about this May Event. This is why you keep your expectations in check. If you want to see new announcements on PS, you have the Xbox show soon anyways.

Last years show case was horrible, outside of that ghost ninja game and spiderman. They’ll probably do a weak SOP soon, followed by something bigger in Sept to announce the pro. I just wish Sony would announce some of their bigger titles from their big studios.

Their next project was GoWR (in a support role) as was later publicly announced, shown in the game credits mentioning all their devs and related linkedin personal pages showing that they moved from Demon's Souls to GoWR.

Even if in a support role, GoWR was the project where Bluepoint did work after Demon's Souls, so was "their" next project until shipped it.

AAA games are made by many teams, being the lead development team (in this case SSM) only around 10% of the workforce behind a Sony AAA game.

That game is the project where all these teams work, it's the project of all these teams.

"Our" doesn't mean that they were the lead team of the game, facts say he meant it was the project where they were working and that after Demon's Souls they had their whole studio busy with GoWR until completed its development. So didn't have people free in other game. And even less to lead it, because facts also said they didn't have enough designers to lead their own AAA game, even today.

So facts say that they weren't leading any game while they were busy with GoWR and can't be doing it now after it. After GoWR -if as I assume they continue not working in remakes/remasters- they must be working again codeveloping a new game in a support role.
