He really does come off as an idiot when he yells about Gary "hating" Star Wars, and then his evidence is that he bashed the Blu-ray and Special Edition edits, said "fuck George Lucas," and then deleted his posts.
I just...
Which means he can't possibly lose.
Detective GAF is fucking amazing.
No, it's really not. Gary made some comments that anyone with any sense would make, and is now in a position where those comments could potentially hurt his career after being offered the job of a lifetime (which he surely had no idea would be on the agenda at the time). Once you're on someone's payroll, what you say impacts them too, so he edited out some old posts to try to damage control any potential PR fallout.
Why exactly is he being shamed for it? This isn't an Amir0x situation where he's caught in a lie.
That's what's so strange about this. Maybe I haven't been deep in Star Wars fandom for so long, but aren't these the type of...erm...enthusiasts that would either agree with Gary or see that there's a little bit more to the story than "LOL HE H8S STAR WARS"? Or is the real sin with these maniacs the "Fuck Lucas"?
I vote that Evilore undoes Whitta's edits.
Then Whitta would be all like

I am curious to see what he erased.

lol at the overreactions.
Also Streinsand Effect and all that.
Why?
I am curious to see what he erased.
I would say there's an unwritten, possibly written obligation to do so anyway.
I mean it sucks that it has to be that way, but that life.
Yeah, I have a feeling Gary is getting sacked if this blows up
I feel bad for him, but he really shouldn't have used his real name on forums. And people here shouldn't try to bring him down either.
Star Wars people will all be like:
"You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them. You were to bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness."
And Gary Whitta will say to them:
"Not from my point of view."
You clearly haven't ventured to the Force forums.
Stay away.

At first I thought this was hilarious, but then I realized that I would do the exact same thing if I was in his shoes.

Joking aside, if Whitta loses the gig because some turd broke this into the mainstream press I'm never going to forgive them. Hating on the prequels is a good thing for the future of the series.

If this thread needs a reason for the mods to remove it without violating their ethics, reasons could be provided...
Robert Orci made abhorrent accusations about the government's involvement in the Sandy Hook shooting and was still handed the director's chair for Star Trek 13. It'd be ridiculous for Gary Whitta to be punished for voicing accurate criticism of the Star Wars prequels.

Quoting for truth. Thanks Gary for saying this. Could not agree more.Gary Whitta said:I just want my original ROTJ ending with the original non-shitty Ewok victory music and non-shitty Hayden ghost Anakin

Kind of sad that Whitta's going to get a bunch of blowback over straightforward and obviously correct opinions.
Wait, what am I thinking. Since Whitta is correct, that means he has the high ground. Which means he can't possibly lose.
Wait, what?

Yeah I can see it from both sides. Basically, I don't want the guy to get fired over this. And I don't really think badly of him for making the edits. But I can also understand how he put himself at risk by using his real name on a forum, and expressing his opinion in a public space. So I do get why some people don't want him to edit his posts.
The main reason he shouldn't be directing it is the Into Darkness script.Orci is a big-style truther.
One of the many, many reasons why he shouldn't be directing the next Star Trek movie, but that's for a different thread.
I'm more concerned that he thought it necessary. If he is being employed by people who would care about those comments I fear for the future of his script.
