If you find a rare game for an unbeatable low price, post it here! CAG can do it, there's no reason why we can't too.

Today I found these at the same EB, all complete:

Culdcept $11.69
Suikoden III $25.19
Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner $22.49

They also had two complete Ikarugas, a PSO Ep I&II Plus and a Grandia. Crazy.

The bleeding edge of news reporting...
Metroid II: return of samus complete, off of Ebay for $25.

The ad had no picture but said it was in good shape.
When it showed up at my door it was in the original unopened box. I mean never, ever opened with the horizontal seal in the shrink wrap on the back with the rack hang hook still attached and not the "best seller" gold seal edition either. I got it last month and have been fighting the urge to open it ever since. Now I gotta buy another copy to play :lol

I have two copies of Valkyrie Profile.

One kept in mint by moi and one beaten up one given to me by a disgusted friend.

I got a copy of Fatal Fury: Mark of The Wolves (DC) for only $8.99 at EBgames last month.
The original price was 17.99(which is pretty cheap already), and the used games were 50% off.
The game is in perfection condition, it comes with complete booklet and cover. except there were lots of stickers on the case.

Dont know how rare these things are. But, I just recieved for Christmas (along with a 360 :D ) an UNOPENED Virtual Boy and 3 games. I broke the seals and the system runs like a dream. Happy, happy times.

Today I found a Final Fantasy Anthology. Is that rare? I couldn't find it anywhere.

Definitely rare - and if you got Jack Bros. that's worth more than the system is.

CAG = Cheap Ass Gamer.

FFA guide is worth more than the game is.

Wow, then that 19.99 price tag is another instance of me getting ripped off. Goddamn prince of persia.

If it was a green label, then that's probably too much to pay. But in the big picture, FF5 and FF6 are worth $20 at any time, no questions asked.

And when I say the guide is worth more, I'm talking $50+.

suikoden 2 for like 3.50$. and the first disc of panzer dragoon saga for 2$. final fantasy 3 for 15$ wasn't too bad.

If we're talking all-time best finds, I got a copy of NCAA College Basketball 2K3 for Gamecube for $11.50 - an ex-rental with the original case and insert, but no manual. I sold it for $55. And then there were the ones that were just plain assholish - a week after its release, Riviera sold out on Amazon.com and speculators were listing it for over $100. I went into a Gamecrazy, bought one and flipped it. It sold for $70, and then the second print run was announced the next day. And I sold a used DDR Mario Mix on Ebay for $100 too.

I still haven't had a really tremendous find, like Rez for $10 or something like that, but I think most of my games haven't peaked in value yet. Once the EB's and Gamestops start taking their old current-gen titles out of their cases, if you have a complete one it will become more valuable...

Suikoden II, used, but perfect shape at EBGames. Bought it for $59. Like a $30-50 savings compared to eBay.

Is Suikoden 2 really that rare? I believe I saw a sealed copy being sold at a local shop (Outside the US) for about $25 USD.

Then you should buy that action. It's super-rare, dude. $100 used on eBay at times.
This auction, for example, is JUST THE DISC. No case or manual, just a crappy used CD, up to $71 when you include shipping. Yeah.

I THINK I saw a sealed copy go a while back for like 500 bucks? Anybody else know what that runs sealed?

Got a copy of Border Down Limited Edition for $60 the day it released. So yeah, I didn't score any major deals or anything, but that's a rare find now and I saw it for $120 on ebay recently.

An hour or so ago I saw a gold NES cart at the local mom and pop shop. The cart looked different than Zelda so I picked it up and it was Bignose Freaks Out, which is a rare non-licensed NES game by Camerica rated 7 for rarity. For comparison, the Panesian softcore porno games are rated 8. It's weird though that this 7 rarity game is only listed as being worth $13, whereas a panesian rated 8 game is listed as being worth $300. I'm going to buy it tomorrow anyway.

Oh I'm on it. It has been lying in the shop for quite awhile. Reasons being:

- Majority of people don't buy original PS games here. Hence they don't know the intrinsic value of the game
- The shop is known to rip off people so their customer traffic is terrible

Only the U/C NTSC version of Suikoden II is really rare, though (or rather, on the scarce side and extremely popular). Sealed copies can run up to $300!

I just paid $81 shipped for a disc-only auction, in fact. :(

i bought a top loader NES with Zelda II (in original packaging), Mike Tyson's PunchOut, Ring King, some WWF game and Metal Gear 1 and 2 for a total of $20 off a crackhead. True story.

Local video rental store had a clear out on all of their PS1 stock for 15$ each a year back. Walked away with next to untouched copies of Valkyrie Profile (2), Suikoden 1, Suikoden 2 (2), Persona 2 Eternal Punishment, Misadventures of Tron Bonne, and Ogre Battle Limited Edition.

Also raided a buddy's sega collection when he was getting out of gaming and just giving the stuff away. Came away with most of the Working Designs titles for the Sega CD/Saturn (only missing the sega Ages & Daisenryaku ports) and a mildly scratched PDSaga.

I have Panzer Saga. I should finish it, actually.

WTF. Is Riviera rare as well? It's all over the place here!

It got very scarce the first month it was out, but then they printed more, and it's all over the place now. It's one of Atlus' all-time bestsellers.

Back at the Game X Change, a guy came in to trade his 2600 system + games. As we were counting up his games for credit, I noticed a copy of Q-Bert's Qubes. Somehow, the other employees at the store, who were always quick to notice rare games for eBay, didn't see this one, and I put it in my 'hold pile'. I couldn't buy it because by the time we finished this guy's trade-in it was already about 30 minutes after closing and NO TIME to ask your manager to ring you up.

I was damn nervous that night, thinking that the manager would grab my game out of my hold pile. I came in a little early the next day and bought it for 84 cents.

Now, I'd never sold games on eBay before this, and I've never bought anything just to sell, but there were Circumstances. I had just graduated college and therefore lost my scholarship, and was living on $6 an hour. I also had a wedding to plan and a honeymoon to save up for.

I sold the game for $70. I put half the money in my bank account and used the other half to buy some new shoes.

I wouldn't be surprised if the seller was a Gaffer...

^Ok then. Time for me to contribute to the topic. Stuff I got that are seemingly rare (I've never purchased any of these games for above retail)

SNES
FF 2/3 (Booxes are pretty banged up though)
Mario RPG
Breath of Fire 1

PS
Valkyrie Profile
Persona 1

I got Ninja Gaiden NES boxed and in perfect condition for 9.99 at a local used book store. Doesn't look like it was ever played. :)

Rarest game I have is Chrono Trigger for the SNES, which I've had since it was released....so I really didn't get it at any kind of a deal ;)

I love when that happens! It reminds me, strangely enough, of another 2600 find (um, I think this is the last 2600 story I have): I found a bunch of boxed 2600 games (Superman, Pele's Soccer, good ol' Math Gran Prix, etc.) in a Half-Price Books for .95 each. When I went to check out, the cashier said something like "We had these?"

I had Panzer Dragoon Saga given to me. Pretty sweet deal.

Oh yeah. I also got FFT given to me back in the day when it was rare.

The best find that I ever had was finding The Legend of Zelda: LttP at my local Cash Converters for $8.00 Canadian. The beauty of this was that the game was complete in its original box with the instructions, nintendo power subscription card and even a large foldout map of Hyrule. Since then, the only other braggable find I've had was getting megaman x1 complete for just $10.00 canadian on ebay. I was hoping to have ZoE 2 top that, but my seller turned out to be a big douche :(

God where do I start: (all sealed white labeled etc unless noted)

Gitaroo Man $5

Rez $5

Jade Cocoon 2 $5

Dragon Warrior 7 $5

World of Outlaws $5

FFX (non-gh) x 7 (9.99 a pop)

FF3 and Chrono Trigger, still in shrinkwrap complete for two of my free XBOX retail site games...they were Conker and Forza I believe

Dark Cloud 2 x 4 for $5 a pop

Suikoden 2 for $20 mint

Rhapsody mint for $10 during the $80-90 ebay days

Flinstones 2 on NES for $2.50. Complete. Paid a months rent w/ profits

TG-16 with 20 complete games including Bonks III, Super Star Soldier, Blazing Lazers, Splatterhouse, Alien Crush with all the Turbo Booster crap, in box, multitap, other shit, for a total of $10 LOL

Silent Bomber $5

NCAA College Basketball 2K3 on Cube $10

Non PC Silent Hill 2 on Xbox $5

all sorts of other shit....most PS1 RPGs for nothing, almost all pre fall 2005 PS2 RPGs for less than $10 (4 copies of Shadow Hearts, 2 being the NFResale vers)

still have some other nice things sealed ~ Collectors Edition Zelda OOT, Valkyrie Profile, Suikoden, Super Smash Bros. (N64), over 40 Dreamcast games (all 2x at least of all 2D shooters, LE Shenmue, Soul Caliber, Skies, Grandia II)

The funniest, most valuable set of crap I seem to have is the 25-30 or so lot of those Gamecube kiosk disks. People pay top dollar for these things. Confounds.

My nephew gave me his copy of "Scooby Doo: Night of 100 Frights" for the Gamecube. It's not rare, but I'll treasure it always (as opposed to playing it).

On the topic though, my best friend was the biggest RPG freak last generation. As such he had all sorts of stuff. Tales of Destiny games, Lunar, all the Final Fantasy games. He didn't take very good care of his games though.

Servizio

I don't really need a tag, but I figured I'd get one to make people jealous. Is it working?
Panzer Dragoon Saga for $70.
Puzzle Fighter for the Saturn for...Five bucks? I can't remember. It might have been two.

Well, my best finds include...

* The time I walked into the local thrift store and found 3 odd Atari 2600 carts in a bin, marked at 25 cents each. The carts felt HEAVY and had simple black/white labels with the words "PROTOTYPE / LAB LOANER" printed on them... now, I don't heavily collect 2600 titles, so I thought I'd sell them on eBay... ended up getting $75, $120, and $80 for them.

* The time I walked into a local used record store and found a boxed Philips CDI system for sale... for $10.
