Oh snap.
Well at least they are doing this with the Rumble series of games and not the actually good Pokemon games.
My wallet is safe for now.
I've got a very good feeling this is only a "test" or preclude to a much larger Pokemon/NFC collaboration. My goodness if they release a Pokemon TCG rpg with NFC compatibility I'm going to run out of money 5 times over.
Even if they don't want a mainline pokemon RPG on Wii-U (though I wouldn't put it past them to see the potential NFC/ pokemon potential and finally make a mainline game for Wii-U) they could expand Pokemon Coleseum, or allow somehow for X/Y to be played on the gamepad and use NFC for training/ extras in that game.
After hearing smash is going to be crossplatform with 3DS/ Wii-U I wouldn't be suprised to see them do the same thing with the 3rd version of X/Y or the set of games following that. There is too much merchandising money to be made not to do it.
This is just the beginning, as my wallet gently weeps.
Sadly, this only reminds me of how perfectly suited Pokemon Snap would be on Wii U.
That really won't happen. That goes against everything Junichi Masuda has been saying about Pokémon being portable and not forcing kids to pay for stuff for the main games after the initial purchase so don't fret
There's a balance in all things. Sure, Masuda might have said something along these lines, but it's not that DLC can't be pro-customer. A worthwhile, longer event, for instance; or (temporarily) returning to an old region. There's so much potential in Pokémon when it comes to DLC -- I wouldn't mind paying a few bucks for that.
Plus; who's forcing anyone? Content that should have been in the initial product (like something integral to the main story) may indeed be unethical to distribute as DLC in that they force the players to buy what should have been in the package they initially paid for. But unconnected, independent episodes? That only means extra options for the players.
If anything, it's hardly different from in-store events. Not everyone can attend them gratis or even attend them at all (because of them not happening in a specific location). DLC can be, likewise, an option that not everyone will want or be able to exploit.
It's paid DLC that he's against. Pokémon has been spearheading DLC for ages, and Black 2 & White 2 had true DLC in the form of Musicals and C-Gear skins which weren't in the game.

The 6 NFC figures are:
Bulbasaur
Tochic
Pikachu
Lucario
Piplup
Victini
There is a 7th, secret figure, also releasing on the 24th.
Each figure can be trained in game using coins and then re-written to and used in other player's games.
Ok Im in! lol.. They need more figures though that one part when they showed all kinds of different pokemon was wallet nightmare-fuel.
And some information:
It also reveals various new bits of gameplay. In this game, you can attack via the GamePad's touch screen. There are also various items that you can find within the game. These items will do things such as make you big or heal. Some levels have gimmicks that you can control, and others that will damage you. Each area has a boss at the end, and has multiple levels. Timed battles also appear. You can use the figures in the game and raise them using coins obtained within the game. This makes them potentially stronger than the counterparts you capture in-game
You should be an editor. You have a way of cleaning up the scraps that get sent to you like no one else.

"First of Pokemon Scramble U NFC Figures"
this is worrisome first of means it is only the beginning
1)Does the figure need to stay on the controller?
2)How does that work in multiplayer or can you only have one toy at a time?
dunno if I want this to succeed or not the possibility is scary
yet it could save the Wii U
so torn
Well the thing is, unlike Skylanders and especially Disney Infinity, you can completely and totally finish the game without the figures
I'm a journalist, bud. It's what we do

- figures will be used in other games at a later date
I read on a site that's not to be named that;
No idea where that came from, but is it true? Because that would seriously up my incentive to buy these.
That was a quick misunderstanding I made because a certain person was so unbelievably vague in the translation he gave me

Funny you should ask...

okay localize this
It will probably come eventually to the States. Even Conquest did.
Yes, but some things didn't, like the Wii Dungeon games. Though there is a sound reason for that; they were awful. I believe Pokémon Typing Adventure never made it to America either
The Wii U icon has been revealed for it. It's adorable
