Rock Band 4 full setlist revealed

Will it be available as DLC? I don't know how the licenses work if you didn't download the songs before.
Probably not. If you didn't export Rock Band 2 to Rock Band 3 you can't get access to it.

There are some great songs on the RB1 and RB2 setlists that will be inaccessible to people who were unaware of the exports back then.

Wow my musical tastes have changed a lot since the original Rock Band!

Only two bands I'm interested in on that list, Dream Theater and Van Halen.

To be honest I'm actually shocked Dream Theater is on here. How about some more music that they inspired?

Ahh I remember when somebody modded guitar hero and played Kamelot. Doubt that would be a feature now, as it would cannibalize dlc sales.

Kamelot would be awesome. Get Center of the Universe or The Black Halo on there. New stuff from Haven would be great too.

You all have to realize that without Viacom, this is going to be kind of a different ballgame. It sucks but lower those expectations.

And even then they got some cool stuff like Elvis and VH

Wow, yeah, looking at the lists, there are some great instrumental compositions there.

I'd have loved to perform the drum intro in Painkiller. The vocals, not so much haha.

And the bass intro in Peace Sells! And Hysteria!

Setlist is alright. So far I'd rank em 2>3>1>4, but 4's will probably grow on me. And none of them are bad.

The only GH/RB game that had a setlist I'd consider bad was Guitar Hero 5, which had a lot of songs that were good but weren't really fun to play.

When I played at PAX, I played Hysteria in RB4. I think I've also seen it for sale in the DLC marketplace.

Almost certainly. Most of the songs in the track packs are DLC anyway.

Fair warning, though, you can only export from track packs if they come with an unused export code.

Picking up a track pack from gamestop with an unused export code is probably an impossibility, but it's probably worth it to get RB1/2/Beatles/Green Day at the very least. I'm guessing you need to have 3 to import the RB2 setlist, too.

Rock Band 1 export doesn't require a code.

Green Day export is no longer supported, but the whole soundtrack for that game was made available as DLC.

There is no Beatles export.

Yes, you need Rock Band 3 to import Rock Band 2's setlist, but please look at the link I posted a few posts up.

R.E.M. is on the setlist for Rock Band 4 because they're a very popular alternative rock band.

And yes, some people play the games to play the songs they like, rather than for the challenge. Me, I play for both reasons.

Yeah fair enough and there's nothing wrong with that. But it ends up being that the setlist is generally meh. Guitar Hero is usually 70% good 30% eh. Rock Band is usually the complete opposite. Yes I'm making up percentages but it's generally how I feel when looking at GH setlists as opposed to Rock Band.

Wow the Lightning Bolt? that's a band I never thought would be in Rock Band mainly because they consist of just a bassist and drummer haha.

Will have to check them out.

This is awful. Just awful.

Also, Megas > Protomen AINEC

YES!

But Metropolis Pt. 1 is the best Dream Theater song that isn't called Space-Dye Vest.

You'd need that keyboard for Space-Dye Vest. Octavarium is my fav but not like a 24 minute song is ever gonna make it. Surprised Metropolis with its 9 minute length is on there.

Yeah, that's also why I didn't mention A Change of Seasons. In a perfect world that would be in Rock Band 4, but that's never going to happen unless it's a 2112-like deal and Dream Theater is nowhere near popular enough for that.

There have been a few 9+ minute songs in Rock Band, off the top of my head:

Green Grass and High Tides
Jesus of Suburbia
Freebird
Won't Get Fooled Again

Wont't Get Fooled Again isn't 9+ minutes /nitpicking

Anyway yeah, there have been a bunch of long songs in the DLC, even 10+ minute songs aren't unheard of (2112, Do You Feel Like We Do, The Camera Eye, Rime of the Ancient Mariner).

I think I need to switch my preorder from PS4 to XB1 with the DLC transfer the way it is. I owned 1, 2, and 3 or 360 and that's where my purchased DLC is. Do I currently need access to my 360 or the game discs to transfer the old content?

Also Heart of the Sunrise and CCR's cover of I Heard It Through the Grapevine.

Set list also missing some DragonForce. They're still going strong.

Dragonforce has their moments, but I'm not sure I would want their songs in the main setlist of Rock Band. By all means, though, give them more DLC. (They already have Through the Fire and Flames, Operation Ground and Pound, and Cry Thunder.)

Ah, perfect. Yeah, outlook doesn't look as awesome as I hoped, but I spent the most time in RB1 anyway, so whatevs.

Weird choice for a Presley song...I mean there's guitar at the start but after that its buried in overproduction violins and what not...not a bad song but they could of chosen something more...rock ? ;)

Can't believe I forgot those two. Those are great.

I was probably one of the few really popular Elvis songs they still have usable masters for.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was really the only option. Most of Elvis's classic songs are probably too old to be usable, for technical reasons.

not my favorite list, but has some amazing stuff peppered in. I mean shit I'd buy it for Metropolis Pt 1 alone.

looking forward to the inevitable dlc as well

even off the same album I prefer Take the Time and Under a Glass Moon

since there's no keyboard in RB4 (or am I wrong?) I don't know why they didn't go with more metal DT. The early prog DT makes sense if keyboard is in the game I guess. This Dying Soul would be great for all parties involved.

and since your avatar is boss, there should be some FNM or Bungle, but Harmonix lol.

Aww, I was excited to find out the full tracklist, but Meh apart from maybe a handful

oh well try again in Rockband 5 because we know it will be made regardless.

For now i'll stick with the PS3, and when four goes cheap enough i'll buy it purely for a handfull of songs, and ps4 only dlc

I'm leaning towards just getting this on PS4 and leaving all of my DLC/exported tracks behind on 360, since I can't convince myself that I want an Xbox One and I probably wouldn't play this as much as I did back when I was in college anyway. Have they talked at all about the possibility of re-releasing old on-disk songs as DLC? I'm sure they'd have to work new deals for them, but there are too many popular songs on those disks for them just to be lost forever.

Would be nice, but without the backing of juggernauts like EA and MTV, and with Madcatz in dire straits too, it'd probably cost too much to get those old songs back as DLC without a major publisher's help.

HMX aren't as well funded as they used to be.

I just found out about this export business, and of course it's expired now....that really sucks.

I never bought RB3, but I have 1 and 2. I assumed I could export them into 4.

WTF.

When I was a kid I used to always look for "short skirt" pornography in Kazaa and I would never get what I want. I'd always get a music video or mp3 for the song "Cake – Short Skirt/Long Jacket". 15+ years later I still have never heard this song lol, but it's in Rock Band now.

You can still export Rock Band 1. You can try to contact EA Support for a Rock Band 2 export, but you need a copy of Rock Band 3, and you may have to try a few times , you won't always get a key.

If you used to watch Chuck, you know Short Skirt/Long Jacket.

Is it too late for me to have all my DLC and Rock Band 1 and 2 and 3 songs show up in Rock Band 4? Fuck, I will be depressed if I missed some kind of deadline.

That's it?

That's the ENTIRE setlist?

They are aware that these are blu-rays right?

(I'm aware of import, but still....that's a tiny list)

No EA or Viacom money this time around.

Any DLC or exports you have already bought are good to go. You're not too late for the Rock Band 3 export, either, it's not available yet.

Considering the game is clocked at around 6 gigs, it would probably take them whole RB dlc catalog and then some to fill the disc lmao.

Developers shouldn't be worried about the amount of disc space leftover anyways, the less space it takes, the better.

Yeah I just cancelled mine. Really just an abysmal list of songs. What's even more baffling to me is the complete lack of punk and metal which are some of the most fun genres to play in games like this.

Bye!

I just don't get it. Either you like the game, or you don't. If they made a game with exactly all the songs YOU want on it, they'd sell exactly one copy. And you'd still find something to complain about. Either you want in on the PLATFORM, which is what it is, or you don't. Stop acting like they're dicking you over. Buy the ticket, take the ride.
