Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus |OT| Life Returns to Vita

Started the Hebijo this morning finally. Really enjoying their story line.

Edit: Ugh, TOTP. I should probably post something more meaningful than, "duh, really liking Hebijo."

Loving Miyabi. I liked her character design before getting into the Hebijo story, but now that I'm seeing her in action, it's a joy to witness her strong determination.
Snapping out of her coma after seeing her school in flames to get to the bottom of things.
Assembling a team of mostly lunatics to blaze a trail to glory.

I can understand why some people would have issues with Ryōbi and Ryōna, but their dialog kills me. Both of them are great shock value characters in a game built on life and hometown.

Can it really be called Musou?

Nope, since Musou is no real genre, it is a series. But it is frequently used to describe a Action/Brawler subgenre, games with massive waves of enemies on large scale maps with strategic objectives and a simple, forgiving combo system that relies more on knowing when to unleash certain attacks and not on input complexity, combo depth and scoring systems. Since Senran Kagura has, as you mentioned, nearly none of that, it is more a standard Brawler, Burst being sidescrolling and Shinovi Versus in 3D.

-One full story rather than multiple's with only one being actually canon.
-Just drop the enemy killing nothing but a time waste
-Follow the idea of just making it a fighting game basically and expand upon that
-Depend on how things would be expanded would be nice to see levels take advantage of it. Such as destructible pieces and the like so it really feels like fights are going all out as they go on.

Obviously I know for the 3DS iterations they can't really do that, but the PSV/PS4 future games could handle that I think. Regardless of that like I said still like the series and will be grabbing Burst 2 and Estival Versus Day 1.

I don't see why the next 3DS game couldn't have destructible environments.

Anyway, SK2 hits your first two bullet points for the most part. There is still trash, but not as much as Versus. Burst was definitely the worst offender there.

Edit: Oh, if you make up some kind of food dish & send it to Xseed, they'll choose 5 winners to receive the mini-figure set of the Hanzo girls that were a part of the Shinovi Versus LE in Japan. Read more about it here.

Man...I wish I could cook.

Phew, excluding Rin, all character stories are now completed & I can start on Crimson's story. & thankfully, if you get the DLC characters, they aren't required to get the trophy for doing all the character missions.

Haruka feels SOOOO much better. I just couldn't get a hang of her play style in Burst, but now she's much more accessible and fun to play as.

& I've been meaning to post about this, but I feel like some of the locations that you fight in are kind of random & don't connect to the story in any way. Like, what is that village or town place?

After finishing up the Gessen story (didn't really like the girls), I'm really enjoying the new Hebijo story and characters.

I would absolutely hate it if they did this. If anything, they should open up the levels and add more enemies to kill and make it a true musou game.

I have literally never parried in this game. Is there some trick to farming that trophy?
Do the first stage of Hanzo, defeat all the enemies except for one, then just farm defending against the last enemy. That's what I did.

& used Daidouji for farming the 3 different stats since I wanted to make the most out of buying her. Managed to get Flash maxed out & also got 10,000 enemies defeated also. Probably will get 10 million EXP earned when maxing out Yin & Yang. Then I'll FINALLY do Crimson's story mode.

Edit: Oh wow, Yin was QUICK to max out. But yay, got Yin & Yang at Lv. 5 each & managed to get the 10 million EXP earned and 10 aerial raves in a row as well. Now it's basically beating Crimson's story & then buying the final stuff that unlocks from playing it.

Pretty sure these are the figures you can win. Pics are kind of big, so I'll just link to each one.

Asuna, Ikaruga, Katsuragi, Yagyu, & Hibari

I don't have any interest, but I'd probably enter by making some small food items & then putting them on my Vita while a girl was in the dressing room, imitating Bon Appetit's....uh, "victory" scenes.

Completed all missions in Shinobi Girl's Heart and all the story missions finally. Now all I need to do is clean up the trophies left over to get the Platinum. I've loved this game, can't wait for Estival Versus.

You mean Asuka, not Asuna!

And yeah, those would be the figures. Marvelous EU gives those away pretty often too.

Whoops. For some reason, I was thinking Asuka was wrong since it was the name of a character from Evangelion.

Finally on Chapter 4 of Crimson. Wonder how much longer until I unlock the final shop items.

An image is always added at the end of every story, so at least until the last story mission + all character stories

Nice to see some other thought on what they would want in a future SK game. Wasn't even aware that SK2 fixed some of that so that's good.

When it comes to the enemies main reason I said to drop them is because they really don't add anything. I suppose you could try and aim it at being more musou but that would be going farther away from what the series is as opposed to making it "Senran Kagura Dissidia" which someone said earlier that I didn't even realize is basically what I wanted.

Then with that said its not like making the game fighting based would take away from its current controls. There's room there to keep them how they are. Not like any of this will happen but its fun to just speculate.

Just as a friendly reminder: Bon Appetit drops this Tuesday for $14.99. There will be an OT for it, posted at some point Monday evening. I will be sure to link said OT both here and in the official PSN thread.

I'm fine with either option as long as the normal enemies aren't just pointless filler. In a proper mosou game they're about as weak as they are now, but there's an actual reason to beat 'em up. I'm not sure SK should really go full mosou though, the 1 on 1 fights are the highlight of the series, I wouldn't really want to see those relegated to boss fights that happen once every 20-30 minutes of gameplay.

Almost a month later and I still can't find a copy of Shinovi Versus for sale here in Brazil. I wonder, why can't I play Bon Appetit before Shinovi Versus?

I thought I heard since it's a "fanservice game" (no, the more general version of that) you'd get a lot less out of it without already knowing all the characters well enough. Unsure if it spoils story content (kinda doubt it does much?) but I doubt the cooking game will go through all the characterization and backstory the main games do.

Yeah, pretty much this. Bon Appetit assumes you know these characters already. If you don't, you'll get absolutely nothing (save for some cheap laughs!) out of its super-silly story mode.

...Doesn't mean you can't still enjoy the game, though. None will argue that the story is of high priority in that title. ;)

Crimson 4-02

Oh man, what happened to ya, Hikage. She needs to act like this more often.

Edit: Oh cool, is 4-03 gonna reveal Mirai's reason for the eyepatch?

It's kinda funny that any other school's story can be roughly connected to Crimson story, especially Hebijo.
Imu's backstory getting revealed at Crimson part (episodes with Hikage) was hilarious.

Man, this final visual novel-style cutscene in Crimson REALLY makes me wish we could actually see some of the stuff that was happening (even in pic form), not to mention we didn't even see ONE PICTURE OR MODEL of the yoma creatures. From what I understand, they actually play a bigger role in SK2?

Oh well, time for the Last Battle.

Edit: HOLY CRAP, why does the game just take the biggest difficulty spike when it comes to this final battle & the last mission for each DLC character?!

Ahh, whatever, did it with both characters, bought the final items, & got the platinum. Now I need to decide if I should keep this or trade it in to help pay for games coming out in a few weeks (i.e SSB Wii U, Persona Q, Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD, etc.)

Ah, I believe those rainbow panties were kind of special for the Japanese release. I think they could've only been obtained through a voucher included with the BD/DVD release of the anime. Cool to see them available for free here!

How the hell can I use Murakumo without the stupid mask¿ I hate her voice and personality with that thing on. But I'm in love with the shy girl hiding behind it.
