Congratulations to Hairbrained Schemes. I wonder if in 10-15 years we'll look back at these developers (hopefully they'll still be around) and hold them up to the reverence we have for Black Isle, Troika, Sir-Tech, etc. It's still too early to say, but last year had some amazing titles that are sure to be remembered fondly.

I think it's highly amusing we even have several choices with whom to choose from that could be argued for best RPG of the year/generation. Aside from the obvious "wait until they're released", I don't think The Witcher 3 falls into the same category of competition. I am looking forward to it, and it may be the best "AAA" example, but Pillars of Eternity and Torment: Tides of Numenera have much higher expectations, and will hopefully deliver on them. And let's not forget Underrail, Serpent in the Staglands, Shadowrun: Hong Kong, and the numerous other RPG projects in development or upcoming.

I'm happy that we reach the mini campaign tier, more Shadowrun is always great. I might should've upped my pledge to the 25$ for the e-book though.

I will buy the shit out of Cyberpunk 2077 when it comes out. My most anticipated title for the next few years.

I'm in the same boat, a high budget cyberpunk RPG was one of my dream game.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be GOTY for 2077. :p

But why? Im seriously asking because i too am exited for it, but all we have is a short cgi trailer.

Mind control.

Well to me it comes to CDP's pedigree, they have already proven twice to be able to make some of the best RPGs ever. And Cyberpunk as a genre is my most favourite one, so them making AAA RPG is a dream come true.

Too bad we will have to wait another 2 or 3 years for it.

Basically my exact answer. I trust that based on their history and knowing what I know about the license, that it should be worth getting.

I wonder if they'll let us download the Shadowrun Returns and Dragonfall digital soundtracks any time soon (assuming the Hong Kong one won't be downloadable until the game is out).

If you own SR and DF already they're already on Steam. Or have you not got those?

Personally I'm excited because I really like CDP's work but honestly am not really a big fan the Witcher universe. Cyberpunk is a darling of mine and criminally underdone in games, so that's why I'm more looking forward to it than W3. Also open world rpgs always put me off.

Nice. 1.2 million was what I predicted a few days ago. Now it will just be the long wait until release. Also Pillars of Eternity will be the game of the year/generation.

I have the games on Steam, but not the soundtracks.

edit: unless you mean they're included with the games and I'm just dumb for not knowing :lol how do I access the soundtracks?

Heh, an extra $200K makes for the finest of cushions I'd say---definitely a hefty chunk of wiggle and experimental room for any number of potential things.

I think they were included. If they weren't then I have no idea how I have them. In Steam, at the top where it says library, select music from the drop down menu and they should be there to listen to.

Oh shit, you're right. They're both there.

Thanks! I didn't even know all my OST's were here lol.

Wow. I had no idea I owned these. Thanks!

Wow. I did not know that. Thank you kind stranger. Btw what are you guys planning to build?

As a filthy decker picker I'm so looking forward to the matrix revamp. RP is amazing as a decker but combat was always so boring.

edit: Wow Glory's theme is called Thorn and Ivory

I always go with a female elf shadowrunner specialising in dodging and rifles. Might be a boring build but it's what I enjoy the most. Really hard to hit yet lethal.

I wonder if I'll go with my customary shaman again. I'm also itching to try out the new matrix.

I'm fully expecting this to be one of the best RPGs of this generation, provided they step up from Dragonfall similarly to how they stepped up from DMS.
What's a generation? ;)

I think it has a pretty good chance of being an OVERALL better rpg than Divinity.

I am anticipating that the characters, story and possibly the setting will be better, but based on the videos I have seen from PoE, the gameplay will pale in comparison to Divinity: Original Sin.

Back to discussing Shadowrun, I am very happy that the million dollar target has been reached. Eagerly awaiting to see how Hong Kong shapes out.

Based on what they've promised in terms of improvements for all the various gameplay systems, I would love to try a full-on cyber enhanced Terminator with a gun-arm and a blade-arm, etc. Hope it works out!

I'm thinking I'm going with a pure Mage, augmented by maybe a few points into Assault Rifles. The other party members have the rest of the classes covered already :p

I've been going with a decker/rigger for the last two games but I'm not so sure this time, what with the party having a dedicated decker and a dedicated rigger. Maybe some kind of mage.

I just received my e-mail reminder to sign up for BackerKit, so HBS should soon start processing the first (digital) rewards.

A few days after you fill out your account information, an email will be sent to you with a download link or game keys for the appropriate rewards. The link and keys will also "live" in your BackerKit account, just in case. Please note that distribution is a manual process which is why it may take a couple of days to receive the email after you fill out your account information.

Yeah, also just got the email. Confused I didn't have to pay any shipping, I guess this will happen closer to when it's done?

I chose the Shadowrun: 2050 source book as my Out of Print reward despite having no idea if it's the best choice. It's apparently also the most expensive one if you were to buy one in the final steps, so I assume that's the one with the most value in it :lol

Omfg the Bagel fund, I love it

I also saw it, and donated a couple of dollars for the fund :). Must keep the developers happy ;-)

(A bit offtopic, but this reminded me of when someone @ RPGCodex sent some coffee to the couple that are developing "Serpent in the Staglands" because they complained about the quality of their coffee. Developers must be well fed & fueled by good coffee!)

Alright, confirmed my pledge; I went with Shadowrun 2050 and The Neo-Anarchist's Guide to Real Life for my sourcebooks. Shadowrun vets, how'd I do?

2050 should be a good primer to the world of Shadowrun if you haven't read the 2nd ed. basic rule book.

I chose Shadowbeat on a whim, inspired by my recent playthrough of the Antumbra UGC campaign.

New update: Dev Update #2 - A peek behind the curtain at where we are in the process

Mitch here again in our new office space. Thanks to your funding, we grew out of our old space and had to move into a larger room in the studio. As you can imagine, it's been a period of intense work since the Kickstarter ended. The entire team is in full production on a spectrum of cool stuff across the game so I thought it was time to pull my head out of production for a minute to give you another “peek behind the curtain” at the development process of Shadowrun: Hong Kong.

Anyone got any good tips for running a decker? I'm playing through Dragonfall DC for the third time but I've never been one before. Chose custom so the game doesn't waste karma in strength and willpower but not sure if I should go with a weapon or drones.

In non-DC, my pistol Decker did just fine. She was barely a fighter, but managed to be useful enough. Especially towards the end when she could effectively snipe people.
