Shkreli lawyer: "at least he's not Kathy Griffin"

Convicted Securities fraud Martin "Pharmabro" Shkreli, awaiting sentence, has lost his bail privileges and been sent to a federal prison in Brooklyn after soliciting an assault on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. He offered $5000 to anybody who would procure a sample of Clinton's hair, with the follicle attached, during her book tour.

In defence, his hapless attorney was reduced to comparing Shkreli's conduct to satire.

"He did not hold up the severed head of the president of the United States like Kathy Griffin."

Griffin has attracted widespread censure after posing for a tasteless photograph in which she held up a prop that resembled a severed head of the President. She later apologized, but the stunt has made her somewhat radioactive.

The judge in the Shkreli case was not impressed by the attorney's argument. "This is a solicitation of assault. That is not protected by the First Amendment.”

So off he goes.

Did Kathy Griffin make life saving and medically necessary drugs and medication absurd costs for profits? No? Then fuck off you pieces of shit.

She's a pretty harmless and fairly irrelevant comedian and he's a dangerous criminal. So in that sense they differ I guess.

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.
This is the guy who bought and jacked up the price of AIDS medicine.

Fuck him.

They really should lock her up though. It was extremely unpatriotic.

Not sure if serious, but...

Holding up a plastic effigy of Trump's head vs. making people with AIDS suffer and/or die who can't afford the jacked up prices? And offering a BOUNTY for Hillary's hair?

Yea, totally not as bad as Kathy Griffin.

I hope the judge gives him the maximum and then prosecutors bring him to trial on solicitation of assault charges to add some more time in jail for him.

Martin Shkreli: Convicted felon who had his bail revoked
Kathy Griffin: Comedian with no known (to Wikipedia) criminal record

I think I'd rather be Kathy Griffin thx.

Is this the same lawyer who defended him during the trial by saying he was weird and compared him to Lady Gaga?

Because of the way the federal prison system coddles white collar criminals, Shkreli would have expected to go and serve his time in a nice low security prison. This isn't how it's working out, though, at least until he is sentenced in a few months time. This article includes comments from a phone interview with a former inmate of the Brooklyn Detention Center where he is now.

"It’s very, very high security. You’re in there with murderers and cartel members."

'Shackles, strip searches, and holding cells with two to 20 inmates are all part of life at the MDC, McCrudden said in a phone interview. Bathroom facilities consist of toilets shared by inmates in two-man cells and a shower block. Inmates generally have access to a handful of computers but strictly for emailing and research -- and no use of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Shkreli’s other usual Internet hangouts. Phones are available but time is restricted, McCrudden said.'

The article also contains quotes from this Ramsay Bolton wannabe on his supposed supervillain status.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?

Let's see if,"Its just a prank, bro!" works on the hardened criminals whose prison cell you're stuck in.

I'll never understand people like Shkreli.

There was a point he could of walked away with a lot of money without seeing any prison, right?

He could of just left the Internet stop trying to get in the media stop trying to be some kind of player and sat on a beach getting indefinite massage therapy whilst huffing some weed at the same time. Forever.

Kathy Griffin made one really distasteful statement.

Shkreli tried to price people out of a life saving drug and has many, many distasteful statements.

Whataboutism at its finest.

What Kathy Griffin did is free speech protected by the constitution which is why she didn't arrested for it.

Offering to pay money to commit a crime is not free speech. Plus he's on bail and the judge has complete discretion to revoke it.

I don't get it either. he is a terrible person down to his core. No sympathy for him at all for what is happening to him.

To clarify, the AIDS drug scam was legal and Shkreli wasn't prosecuted for being an arsehole. The crime of which he's been convicted is securities fraud, because he's a criminal arsehole.

The guy seems to crave attention. He seems to love making people hate him for some reason.

I hope he gets the worst treatment in prison and is sentenced to stay in prison for the rest of his goddamn life after his hearing.

He gets off on being a villain. As if it makes him better.

It was legal but it says something about his character.

Suddenly there's narcissistic assholes everywhere who want to be rich and be able to do shit "for the lulz". Their life's ambition is to be the richest troll in the world.

They also went out and elected one too.
