I finished Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines today, man that game was totally worth the 5 bucks i paid for it making gaf right once again, i feel bad for anyone who missed that sweet deal.

So yeah I was browsing my computer while having L4D2 install. Unfortunately my computer froze.

When I restarted my computer and tried to start Steam again I got this message.

Deleted Clientregistry.blob ...same thing.

No snark intended, just showing that Google did in fact have it.

And, really, what else were you searching for?

"How to move steam games to another hard-drive" or something similar.

Try deleting AppUpdateStats.blob.

Failing that, try deleting everything but Steam.exe and the SteamApps folder.

And failing that, I've heard that uninstalling and reinstalling Steam fixes it.

Beware that if you uninstall Steam it will delete all your games without asking you, so you should back up the SteamApps folder. It's crazy that you would be having the login problem to begin with.

I remember getting this as well for a while. I kept deleting the clientregistry and restarting the computer. I think the way I solved it was to turn off the wireless, disconnecting me from the network and then to start Steam. This forced steam into it's offline mode. From there I turned my wireless back on and had Steam restart into online mode which worked. Have you tried that?

I have a question about having Steam installed on multiple computers. What happens when I log into my account while the other computer is still logged in? Does it just kick the other computer off? If I do this enough times is Valve going to get suspicious and lock my account because they think it has been highjacked?

Yep.

As long as you have Steam Guard enabled you'll be fine. The entire point behind it is that you and only you can authorise access to your account on multiple PCs (and browsers, if you happen to log in to the Steam website).

No worries. :)

SOMEONE HELP THIS GUY OUT AND GIVE HIM HIS FROZEN SYNAPSE. MORE PEOPLE NEED TO PLAY THIS GEM.
Thanks :)
Posting again as it is almost the last chance: if anyone wants to share a pack of Frozen Synapse then PM me.
Also: should I get Tropico 3 despite my big backlog (that includes Anno 1404 which should be similar)?

I'm wondering about CS:CZ's Deleted Scenes missions. I've never played it, I like some of Ritual's other games, but it's £6, is it worth the punt?

Has it ever been remotely confirmed that From Dust at GMG is a Steam key?

Caerith said:
Is Dirt 3 really that good of a game that, despite the massive supply of free keys, there's still enough demand to argue that it's worth $50?

I wouldn't pay more than 5 bucks for it. Dirt 2 is the superior version. Kind of a shame all these gaffers just wanted it for the meta-collecting though. So many people with under 1 hour played. Feel bad for people who actually play racing games and missed out to these people.

I'd say 'no'. It's nothing but CS poorly repurposed as a single-player game complete with terrible bot AI. The game does have quite a selection of levels, ranging from those seen in CS to completely new ones, but they're not big and the objectives never fall outside those typical of the series (rescue hostages, eliminate opposing team, etc.) The only reason I happen to own it is because of Valve handing out the Complete Pack to Golden Potato earners.

CS:CZ could have been wonderful if the game design approach was more along the lines of Rainbow Six or SWAT.

I thought the Deleted Scenes was a linear 'normal' shooter campaign?

Oh, right, Deleted Scenes. My bad. There is a world map but the missions are unconnected.

That's how it usually goes.
Or the people who harvested like 20 keys to sell...

People are greedy and entitled.

Got ten keys myself but gave them all to friends who weren't online during the half hour the promotion lasted.

I don't get why someone would ask for a key when they have no interest in playing it.

I've completed Deleted Scenes (wonder how many people have...). I don't recommend paying anything for it at this point, but I did remember enjoying the later missions somewhat. The early missions are a slog and you probably won't get through them out of sheer boredom/frustration. It's also archaic and very straightforward.

I know what you mean, I registered the key and haven't even downloaded it yet. Do not feel bad though, one more for the backlog, I'll play it. Eventually.

I'll probably hold out till there is a Valve sale then, it comes with 1.6 for the £6, which I also don't have, so if it's ever at 50% I think I'll bite. Thanks for the replies.

In all that Prey 2 hype have just decided to buy the original game. Wonder, whether I did right or not?

upd: it's so unusual to see game that weights only 1.5GB nowadays.

If you'd like to get into 1.6 then it's a good deal. I'm sure the scene in the UK isn't as baron as it is here in Australia. When I began playing CS (I started with 1.5), before hopping online I downloaded some fan-made bots and played against them for a while until I felt I had a decent grasp of the aiming/recoil system. CZ would be good for that; the bots are stupid, but as a result they're excellent cannon fodder.

That's me at the moment because it keeps crashing :( I've had my first bit of bad luck with Codemasters, it seems!

Yup... i was playing Dirt 3 the other day with a buddy and i am not very sure why, but it feels kind of uninspired, the scenarios doesn't transmit anything imho.

Dirt 3 would be better without the gymkhana junk and "hi broskimigo that was awsum!" unskippable gold star bullshit taking a dump on the pacing of the game, and if the rally stages were longer like in old but far superior games like CMR2

I have such a backlog right now, I'll hold out. As for 1.6, I'm interested, but some of my friends only have Macs, so it's CSS only for them, or GO I guess when the time comes.

I'm surprised Valve haven't ported over GoldSrc. I recall the original Half-Life having software, OGL, D3D and Glide renderers.

Nice to see my hatred of gymkhana and the voices is a common thing. Also all the DLC options that they show when choosing cars or stages, fuck that. The actual racing in Dirt 3 is some of the best I've ever played though.

HL Source isn't even on OS X, I'm pretty surprised about that.
HL Source is a piece of shit that Valve is probably trying to retcon out of existence.

I'm currently at 35 hours with over half that in multiplayer with my friends (so goooood). Am I in the clear?

The narrator and the pimping of DLC is enough to make me want to never play it again.

So obnoxious.

It really is. I have zero tolerance for unnecessary bullshit like that in a racing game. If I'm not driving or preparing for a race, it's a waste of time.

I'll probably give it another shot soon, but my first impression wasn't great. Plus, I prefer over the top racers like Wipeout and Burnout so it's kinda hard to get into racers that don't have explosions or sweet jumps.

I know people were disappointed because it just added a few little things from Source and it wasn't Black Mesa: Source, but was it that bad?

A lot of things were completely broken like enemy projectile speed, damage values, etc. and it looks horribly inconsistent. It offers absolutely no real benefits over the original.

Well if that's the case or not, it's strange they have the engine done, and you can play HL2 and it's sex kitten daughters, but not HL1 in any form. Most people consider DoD:S to be a more offensive update, and that's on OS X, HL2 DM is on there and no one cares about that.

Most people don't realize that HL Source exists, that's why it's not on OSX. It's also on an ancient (2004) version of Source. DOD is on Orange Box revision, just like HL2/E1/E2.

Ahh, I see.

I still hold hope that one day BM:S will come out and be the second coming of Christ, personally.

Dirt 3 has been a really great gift for me, I've already played 19 hours and I'm loving it. I'm even starting to like the Gymkhana levels D:

Btw, how does F1 2010 run on PC? after Dirt 3 I want to try more Codemasters games and it looks like a good one. I'm also getting Dirt 2 when it goes cheap again (yeah I now it was on sale recently :( )

Great if you have a beefy PC. I have everything on Ultra, 8xAA and I get a solid 60fps.

Just a warning: F1 is soooooo different an experience from Dirt. I thought it looked awesome and I love Dirt/kinda Grid so I bought it on release, but I ended up finding it to be boring as shit because I just don't like that style of racing. It's also significantly more realistic.

Yes. In fact, you'd be #1 in hours if you were on my friends list. I think I have one person who's busted through the 20 hour mark. I'm #4 at 14.3 hours.
