FO3 is tempting. I already own the PS3 version along with Broken Steel.

Glad I waited even longer for Old World Blues.. $7.50 was a great price, but $4.99 WOOT!

I really want New Vegas REALLY bad. I'm just waiting for a Game of the Year edition with all the DLC.

Is that even gonna happen?

It's possible, but this is as cheap as New Vegas + the DLC will be for awhile, it's only $25 altogether.

$9.99 is a friggin steal for the base game, it's quality stuff and there is easily 100+ hours worth of potential playtime BEFORE mods.

So are the crashing complaints overstated?

Eventually.. You'll end up paying in the neighborhood of $19.99-$29.99. So, why no jump in now?

On the PC, yes. I played the console version. The crashing issue on pc is more tolerable. It happens, but far less often. I rather crash to the desktop, than reboot a console.

Oh yeah. I played the game to completion on the X360 minus the DLC.

Because I know I'll be able to grab it for like 10-15 dollars on a steam deal, more than likely the winter sale.

I've played 40 hours of Fallout 3 but never played the DLCs. I know Point Lookout and Broken Steel are the best ones, but should I get The Pitt as well?

Broken Steel was only a good piece of DLC because it raised the level cap. The actual content in Broken Steel, I found, was lackluster and boring. The Pitt is great.

I thought so. New Vegas was my first Bethesda-like game and in my 50+ hours of play it only crashed about 2 or 3 times. Just get used to creating save states by pressing F12(or 5? I can't remember) and there will be very few issues.

Yes, because for everyone, the Gamebryo engine that they used for Oblivion and FO3 is a giant bug-ridden mess and it's always been a gamble that you come out bug-free, bug-ridden or only hitting a few bugs.

It's always been strange that noone has ever realized it and just assume Obsidian made it buggy when Bethesda is just as bad at it.

Good point. If you're willing for the GOTY edition to be announced, and then wait a little longer for it to go on sale, you can always go that route.. Pretty long wait though.

Highly doubtful. A GOTY would launch at $50, even with 50% off it would still be $25

Yes of course it will but I'd expect it to be $50/£30 if they do much more DLC.

Lonesome Road is the last DLC, coming this month, so a compilation edition should show up I'm guessing soon after that.

Is the NV DLC worth it?

Already own and have just started FO3: GOTY, but I forgot: Which game has the awful DLC? 3 or NV? If NV's DLC isn't worth playing, then I'll bite at 9.99. But if it is, I'll just wait for the GOTY edition to eventually hit.

I've counted a backlog of 9 epic RPGs I have waiting. I can wait till Summer 2012. But if the DLC sucks, no sense not buying now and having the option to play whenever the mood strikes.

If only I had 10 bucks, New Vegas would be mine now :(

this is a true statement, yes

debating Old World Blues. Already have the first 2 dlc and i need to start a new playthrough and eventually get to them.. figure it'll be holiday sale when im done with this (considering the rest of the backlog) and it'll be cheaper there.

Just based on Yahtzee speaking so highly of it I'm interested in grabbing Painkiller" Black. Still worth playing for someone who has never touched it before? Any particular mods I'd want to grab, perhaps some that improve the visuals especially?

Does the game typically go cheaper? $5 is great, but not if the game is known for going 75% off often.

Thinking of hopping on this but I have alotttttt of games from the summer sale most of which I haven't even touched.

What are some of the must have mods for New Vegas?

This visuals aged just fine, there isn't any real need for visual mods.

FO3's DLC is pretty ... eh. The Pitt and Point Lookout were the only ones I didn't really mind, and both of those were extremely buggy for me. Operation Anchorage was absolutely dreadful. Other two were forgettable.

All of New Vegas' DLC is amazing, but Old World Blues especially. It's my favorite DLC ever. Tons of content as well, I think I got a dozen hours out of it and still missed a couple areas.

Yep, both SDK Base 2007 and 2006 are installed.

I'm reinstalling the entire Source SDK one last time to see if that fixes the problem. Otherwise I might have to jump into UDK, which will suck, as I'm awfully rusty with Unreal :S.
Ask Botolf if you have problems, he had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get Episode 2 properly working with the SDK, I think.

If you jump into the UDK that would be awesome though, since it might give me motivation to start working with it again and I might be able to answer your questions. Plus we might have someone besides me posting in the thread (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=29752182#post29752182). :P

Ok guys, going to jump on New Vegas DLC, I need someone from US to gift me all 3. I will PayPal you the amount.

Anyone willing to help fellow GAFer?

So it's FO 3 with the eh DLC. Guess I'll just wait on NV then.

I feel like a bum doing this, but screw it :

Is anyone willing to gift me Fallout NV base game ? I will repay you on tuesday when I get paid, either through Steam gift or Paypal, your choice.
No problem, what's your Steam account?

Is it possible to get the GOTY FO3 and hold off installing the DLC until you've completed the main game and seen the various original endings?

Yeah, you should be able to if you disable the DLC before booting the game.

I really want New Vegas, but having sunk so much time into it on the Xbox, I don't really want to switch mid-playthrough. Garsh, only $10 though!

I have 2 Dirt 3 keys im willing to trade for New Vegas. Pm Me.

No offence but I think gaf as a whole has access to roughly a billion codes for Dirt 3.

Someone help me decide if I should get FO3, NV or both. I played about 8-10 hours of FO3 on 360, and just set it aside. Also did the same with Oblivion. Should I give it another go?

What so Painkiller is the daily deal? My store page is kinda borked. It started off with the banner for today, one of the weekened deals, no daily deal, I refresh and travel back in time to yesterdays banner, no weekend or daily deals.

I have the first Painkiller on physical media. I wonder if I still have the cd key.

I think I might bite on New Vegas vanilla for now. How long is the game for the completionist types of people like me?

Could be from anywhere between 50 and 100 hours, depending on how you go about things. I'm guessing you never tried Oblivion or Fallout 3? As those are fairly comparable. The other factor is that every quest has multiple solutions, so if you're like me, you might enjoy saving and reloading just to see how alternate methods play out.

Or you know, you just want to start blowing people up and not live with the consequences.

I think a run through the main plot line by itself is 20 to 30 or so hours.

Is Old World Blues worth 5, or do you think it'll hit 2.50 in the semi-near future?

It's worth $5, but it will no doubt go down to $2.50 when the last DLC rolls around this month.

I'd say just grab NV. It expands on FO3's features and it's has a better story and atmosphere, in my opinion.

And then when you're done or close to done, grab the DLC. I'd recommend Old World but they're all great. Pick them up when they are $2.50.

Pretty damn long, if you're looking to finish every quest, get every unique weapon, try out the awesome mods, get all the skill books, etc. Plus there's multiple endings and tons of ways to play your character (guns, energy, explosive, speech, sneak, etc). I'd say 30-60 hours first playthrough.

If you guys can't tell from the above, I REALLY RECOMMEND NEW VEGAS AT THIS PRICE.

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/ <- Go there for awesome mods and tons of bug fixes. There's little items and big overhauls, check it out.

Fallout 3 is an awesome RPG. The ending on vanilla was disappointing, but the journey there was superb. Some of the side-quest could have been games in their own right, and the atmosphere is bleak and depressing once you immerse yourself in the game (The whole game reminded me of "The Road" by CM).
