I completed every single mission in Tropico 3 and its expansion. 40+ hours. !00%'d the entire game.

I never once had to zoom in even remotely that close. You are ~5X closer than you'll never need to zoom, at least. What do you think you're going to be "micromanaging?" That chicken?

I already had to to click on some workers more comfy

also why would the game allow me to zoom in to that point and have some good textures and some bad? something's weird in that build.

Graphics look like Tropico 3, which look great on the high/ultra settings.

I'm guessing those blurry textures are just something with the demo, all the buildings in 3 look great and crisp

Exactly, even on High on T3 it didn't look like that. Probably just the demo being a demo and all. Don't think they'd miss something so obvious where those shanty homes are clear when zoomed in but the teamster's warehouse isn't.

With this Kalypso sale there's a few games I'm interested in but I'd like some feedback.

The First Templar
Patrician IV
Time of Shadows

Impressions?

Patrician is an addictive trading sim that's let down by its poor interface. One of this iteration's big features is the auto trading interface, where trade routes can just be a list of which goods to trade in which towns and the AI figures out when to buy and sell. But there's so little feedback that you can't tell if you would be better off micromanaging. That sort of thing is all over.

But like I said, it's addictive. You start out with a single ship doing the whole buy low sell high thing. Then you get more ships and set up automatic trading routes. Then you start building homes and businesses in towns. Then you start running for political office. Then you're making major decisions that affect the whole region. The way the focus keeps expanding while staying grounded in trading means you can lose hours at a time doing the proverbial one more thing.

I'm going to pick up the DLC this weekend but since I haven't tried it yet I can't comment on it.

The Kalypso Anniversary Pack would push my game count to/over the 400 mark. If it were $50 instead of $60 I'd probably bite.

Edit: What the hell, I don't remember buying Atom Zombie Smasher. It doesn't even seem like my kind of game. I'm guessing I was drunk when Salsa recommended it and decided to buy the game.

Edit 2: Clarity.

WOW! This took me by surprise!

So I guess Tim Langdell is officially done for it.

Atom Zombie Smasher was added to the Humble Indie Bundle #3 retroactively, so if you bought it, it gets added to your Steam account automatically. Pretty awesome.

Ah, that would be it. Cheers.

Thank you. I'm sold on another one.

Yeah, probably they reduced the textures size/quality so that the demo would be a smaller download.

Downloading Tropico demo now.

Doesn't look too bad, but not too hot either

uhm, my texture problem doesnt seem to be present here :/

could you zoom in that building like i did and see if the texture is crap?

Well that's generally the case when a game shows up like that, even has proof of pre-purchase required.

Lame :( game is cheaper elsewhere and i already pre-ordered on Steam

weird that it took.. this long?

That gif is amazing, but I've got to wonder why Ubisoft would go Steamworks instead of their usual scheme.

Call of Juarez: The Cartel is also steamworks

GMG? But you don't get the HAT! Or is it cheaper somewhere else?

its cheaper on GMG yeah, but steamworks games tend to be always cheaper in many places other than Steam, lol

But then you could trade that hat for GAMES. It's like money, only in hat form.

Yesterday, I traded CS:S and the original Half-Life for the $30 Killing Floor bundle, which I have no use for and intend to use as a deal sweetener.

This reminds me, I got Call of Juarez on GMG, and the game is apparently shit (from what people are saying about the versions out now). I'm contemplating canceling my order, but I got it for like $25 bucks (or whatever the deal was). Think it'll be any better on PC? I loved the first two, so when I saw it on sale for that low pre-release, I blind bought it.

Tropico 4 looks/ feels almost exactly like Tropico 3.
Honestly the only additions I saw was a more intuitive menu system, better trade management and the engine seems to be a bit better optimized.

Hell The funny thing is, I got the Tropico 3 steam pack thing during a sale, never played it (or got to playing it). Downloaded the Demo of 4, thinking that I might spoil myself by playing 4 instead of 3. After completing the demo multiple times, I install Tropico 3 and what damn well floored just how exactly the same the game is. I'm talking about main menu, music, models, textures .. everything looks exactly the same!

Now not breaking it down as Tropico 3 still looks amazing. Just found it odd.

(Please note this was based on the demo, which was 4 tutorial missions plus one proper campaign mission)

edit: Just noticed I confused myself whilst reading this, so made it more clear'

Hey, does anybody know if Steam Wallet money expires? Because the Euro is so low, I'm thinking of putting some money into my Steam Wallet for the Christmas sale.

How are the Broken Sword games? I'm looking at the triple pack...

The GOG versions include the originals as well as the remakes, and most people find the originals to be superior. So I'd say go with GOG instead.

Avadon: The Black Fortress is on Steam. Looks great, but it's port from iOS devices and Eschalon yet hold his place in my heart, so I'm not sure on buying it.

Pretty sure that's not the case. Avadon was released on the PC well before it came out for the iOS devices, and Jeff was very clear in his dev that the Mac/PC releases of Avadon came first and the game was ported to iOS later.

Really? Oh well pardon my ignorance. I hope there'll be a demo, then.

Wasn't there an old Robin Hood game which played like Commandos/Desperados?
It was called "Robin Hood - Legend of Sherwood", I think.

Mafia II is $7.49 on GamersGate right now. It's Steamworks. Although not without its faults, I still had an excellent time with it. Enjoyed the characters, city, story. I especially loved driving around at night to Eddie Cochren, Richie Valens, and other '50s artists. In my pink car. Which was pretty fucking rad, actually.

Just, you know, for all eight of you who had an interest in this but passed it up the thousand other times it's been sub-$10.

Is anyone else having trouble applying the SUNNY-SAVER-20PEC coupon to the From Dust preorder on GMG?
Yes. It doesn't work on it somehow 'because there is already a special running on the order' (the preoder discount) works fine for other games, though.
