Man, modded Morrowind runs like ass. I think I have spent 2 hours modding this game, and individual downloads don't help at all.

I downloaded "Morrowind 2011" and was running like crap so I uninstalled it, and installed it again. Now I'm using this guide here.panda21 said:yeah i modded morrowind and then went back to vanilla because it ran so badly. turning down the 'distant land' distance helped a lot, but introduced some weird graphical glitch where distant objects would appear transparent on top of things infront of them... vanilla actually looks ok to me
just beware save files from the modded version won't work with it afaik

I really hope these peoples' "guesses" aren't true. Already bought it for $12 on GMG. They need to be more straightforward on their shit.wutwutwut said:

I hope it doesn't come to that. D=Ledsen said:Two hours? Come back when you've spent dozens of hours spread out over weeks or months. ES modding is hardcore.
EviLore said:I've completed Deleted Scenes (wonder how many people have...). I don't recommend paying anything for it at this point, but I did remember enjoying the later missions somewhat. The early missions are a slog and you probably won't get through them out of sheer boredom/frustration. It's also archaic and very straightforward.

I ended up buying it anyway. I've played all the good shooters I care about, time for the bad ones.TouchMyBox said:I remember trying to fool myself so hard into believing that I was enjoying that crap.
Nabs said:It looks like Avadon will be $10 on Steam. That's great for us, but I'm wondering how the fans who paid $25 will handle it.
I have that regardless of resolution on just random launches. Try launching again, it might go away. The Broken Ska Record said:Has anyone had weird resolution issues with Crysis? For some reason, if I change the resolution to anything that's not 1920x1080, I can't navigate the menus. Like the mouse is askew by a lot. I really wanted to finish the game this week, but that's putting me off of it.
kamspy said:Anyone know how to get Strangers Wrath running on W7?
Mine gets as far as the launcher When I click play game the launcher just disappears for a second and comes back.
The VagrantWolf said:Okay, if you're having any problems with Stranger's Wrath, any at all, then please read this post!
Right. Bit of background information here, if you don't want to read it then skip this paragraph, it's mildly nerdy. Right. First things first - where is the problem? The problem is dwm, the Desktop Windows Manager. Why? Well, it appears that dwm enforces vsync on the windows it controls, but what happens is that if an OpenGL app tries to exceed that with its framerate, it freaks out.
This can cause all sorts of issues; crashes, black screens, random drops to 5 FPS, and more. Sound familiar?
Solution: Open your Steam folder. The easiest way to do this if you don't know how is to hold the Windows key and press R, then in the window that pops up, type: c:\program files\steam or if that doesn't work, try c:\program files (x86)\steam and that should do it.
Once you have your Steam folder open, go into steamapps, then common, then stranger's wrath, then bin. Locate stranger.exe, this might be a problem if you don't have extensions on but you should be able to find it. Right-click it and click properties.
Click the compatibility tab at the top, then check Disable Desktop Composition. Apply that, then try running the game again.
SING MY PRAISES!! (Well, not really. But I hope this works for you!) >_>
I found out this via my own experimentation and some research over on the OpenGL dev forums which confirmed all my worst suspicions.

God I hope Geneforge gets a re-release, or even better a remake. One of the greatest and most under-appreciated RPGs ever.LocoMrPollock said:Eh, the game is good, I am fine with it. I'd also really like them to have some success and $10 on Steam is the best way to achieve that.
So I'm happy and may even DD in hope that the Geneforge will make its way to Steam.

jaundicejuice said:I simply adored Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus back in the day when I played them on the PS1, they were absolutely brilliant puzzle platformers set in a fantastically unique universe. Even to this day I think the Oddworld games stand out as being really creative and unique. I don't thik there has been any other game or series that has approached them. I haven't installed and played them to see how they've held up. I imagine they would have to be played windowed in their original resolution, otherwise they would look like ass.
Munch's Oddysee, apparently, was as buggy as Stranger's Wrath when it was first released in the Oddbox.
SneakyStephan said:Dirt 3 would be better without the gymkhana junk and "hi broskimigo that was awsum!" unskippable gold star bullshit taking a dump on the pacing of the game, and if the rally stages were longer like in old but far superior games like CMR2
ArjanN said:I don't think they were that original if you had already played Another World/Flashback/Prince of Persia/Blackthorne etc.. The setting was pretty original though.
MikeDub said:Not sure this is the right place to ask this but I figure someone here must have experienced this. Whenever playing any source game I constantly have loading issues, always when loading chapters in L4D2 and TF2, it's taking me over a minute to load maps/levels. I have tried turning off multiple cpu rendering, turned off anti virus/firewall, defragged steam, redownloaded the games. I have no idea what is going on and wondered if anyone had any suggestions? I have a high end PC so it shouldnt be a issue to play these games, i7 2600, 8gb Ram, 560ti.
Will buy. Hopefully the Spiderweb back catelog makes its way to Steam as well.Nabs said:It looks like Avadon will be $10 on Steam. That's great for us, but I'm wondering how the fans who paid $25 will handle it.
The_Technomancer said:Interesting.
Last week he confirmed that Avernum: Escape from the Pit will be launching at $20, so this is probably lower in price just because of the delay.
BTW, for anyone curious about either Avadon is a fun little game but Avernum is the real deal. That re-release is going to be awesome.
I did, but a long time ago.plc268 said:Under no circumstances should you play Dirt 2 then. They actually toned down that crap for Dirt 3, believe it or not.
Assuming you haven't played Dirt 2 already. If you did, then ignore this.
Flunkie said:Space Pirates and Zombies Demo. Don't know why it's not on Steam. After watching the WTF is... on it, I'm looking forward to it.
SneakyStephan said:I don't remember it badgering me throughout the whole game though, and pretty sure most of it was skippable apart from some initial stuff.
Dirt 2 at least let me play.
Eh I had some pretty decent offers when the keys first started coming out but I didn't go for any of them, the depreciation of value of DiRT3 keys you could predict from a mile away.jaundicejuice said:I believe the phrase used was "man, the prison economy we had going for Dirt 3 keys has really bottomed out."
