I'd like to poke around with tor, but I really don't want to ever see child pornography. It is disturbing to me that so much exists that you can come across it so easily.

See, these are the things that interest me the most - dormant servers, hosting a single site, or a network of information. Public domains that display seemingly useless data, random strings of numbers, but remain active. Even better, government or unknown subdomains, that aren't indexed but have content - but again, indecipherable or confusing... I love it.

Yup, this is much more interesting than people being weird. I've had enough seeing people doing terrible things to each other, but what governments and very technical (and paranoid) people are doing.

Nevermind, that Mai Chan babyfuck thing is pretty odd

I knew I'd regret ever reading this thread sooner or later :(

I'm left with an overwhelming sense of darkness right now and the idea that the internet dark side is probably a cancerous part of society being allowed to grow unmonitored.

Yeah, I just had a daughter

I fear for her sanity and innocence in the future. I can't shelter her from all this weird shit, no matter how hard I try.

Uber, thanks for the replies, I love to read these kind of things, however, I do want you to be careful, last thing anyone would want is you getting arrested or something because of this. I know I might be paranoid, but you never know.

No problem man, I'm just happy to paint a more realistic picture is all. And don't worry about me - I haven't touched TOR in a while, and am unable to connect at the moment anyway. I've never done anything illegal, either, so I'm totally in the clear. It's a very valuable thing, though, knowing what you can get away with and what you can't, because the line gets a bit blurry, as you can imagine.

Me too - but I'm afraid it's never going to be solved, not know the internet has grown to the size it is. We'd need a complete reset, a new start - create a new standard.

Mai-chan is pretty tame when you've gone deeper. It's only drawn gore porn and , well, raping a baby and throwing it in a blender. But still only drawn. There's so much fucked up stuff that's actually real.

One of the creepiest is this one where this guy found an old picture hidden in his room. It was from the 60s or 70s and showed a boy dressed in womens clothes looking scared. i think it was from a poster on GAF. IIRC, the story that the poster dug up was that a neighbors kid went missing years ago. Its probably still in the Creepy Story thread but i dont have time to search for it right now.
After several googling attempts, I finally managed to find this story thanks to the following search:

Code:

Note that the links to the pics are broken (the image host is apparently banned here):

That story has urban legend written all over. Neighbour is an ex-FBI agent? Was the call coming from upstairs too?!

Still I'd like to see the pic!

Ah awesome! Thanks for rooting this out, I must have missed it in the creepy thread, despite following it closely.

It just looks like the kid dressed up as a character from The Rocky Horror Picture Show to me. The face paint and everything resembles characters in that film.

*opens page, looks like someone tipped a big box of random letters and images on my screen, closes page*

Urgh, I got a headache just looking at that for a few moments. That's one ugly page.

That website crashed iOS Safari on my iPhone as soon as it finished loading. Not even the Pics that make you laugh with its endless GIFs manages to do that (very often).

Just lettin everyone know I'm having the most difficult time in my life right now trying to prevent myself from clicking any links.

I mean, I've seen some shit before, but I don't know if I want to see anymore......

.....BUT, MAN, JUST ONE LOOK??? RRRRRRRRGH

I remember a news story about two scumbag teenagers apparently just messing about, ran passed a woman, grabbed her newborn and threw it in front of a bus.

Yup.

:(

I like this thread very much, since I'm pretty interested in the "weird" side of the internet.
But alas, I'm a huge pussy. I'm scared to click these links.

That's why I ask, could you guys maybe give a short exlpanaition about what's behind those links? I'm really curious, but my scaredyness is bigger than my curiosity, sadly :(

Consider yourself lucky. I broke and I regret clicking. =(

I've actually been interested in hearing stories of other people's encounters in the deep end of the web. I've actually been looking around, and let me tell you that if you're wondering if the link you're about to click on is bad, it's probably bad.

I do wish to learn more about research papers and notes people were talking about. Since I'd like to learn a bit more of what others decide is worth putting behind Tor.

Awesome, thanks.
But it sounds...um highly unlikely. As mentioned a very urban legend story but a good one nonetheless. Still wanna see the picture.
Also that "Mai-chans Daily Life" shit, I stumbled upon accidentally last year, f a whole bunch of that.

EDIT: Just saw the pic. Weird.

Oh god I remember those videos... fucking weird.

I know what you mean, it's a kinda morbid curiosity to look. All my links are safe, but I can't speak for others. I don't like gore or any shit like that.

This deep web stuff is interesting as hell.
Though I probably wouldn't bother going into it.

Yeah, it's what drew me to it in the first place. I was amazed to find there was a whole other network out there, that couldn't be found using normal methods.
I saw it as an adventure, an opportunity more than anything. I don't regret getting there - though I have seen some bad things - but above all it's given me a better perspective on the internet.

This was back in 1999. I was working at an internet cafe which was heaven because it meant we had unlimited access to a blazing fast double ISDN line. So one night as we were closing up we set up a spider at one of the machines, point it to a porn picture post site, set the link depth to unlimited and leave it running overnight to see how much porn we could download.

What we didn't know was that back then a major way to hide illegal stuff was the simple trick of coloring the link the same as the background and putting it at a corner of the page. The spider didn't give a damn so it went down the rabbit hole.

Let's say that after looking horrified at what we had found before deleting them and formatting the disk I am much more likely to believe stories about the various soul-crushing stuff that are online. Probably a month passed before I was able to get an erection again.
