I wish arcades were more prominent in the states, maybe we'd get location tests.

Edit: Whoa October?! That's way sooner than I thought.

So how much time does it usually take for a console release after those kind of tests? :S

I believe this is also the first arcade fighting game to get online match up.

During the location test, you can battle from Tokyo against players from Osaka and vice-versa.

Well, I guess Heihachi is old again. Who's going to voice him now, I wonder?

October? I thought this game had barely began production. Harada and his team certainly have their hands full with all the projects their tackling at the same time
none of which are Tekken X Street Fighter ;_;

Good grief. Location testing starts next month and we still haven't seen a single droplet of footage. What a way to reveal a game.

Their strategy with this game is so weird.

Its like they want to confirm its a niche game over and over.

I guess Tekken won't go back to T3-5 days in terms of popularity.

Its being made only for pro-players and advertised as such.

None of these have been confirmed (except Kazuya Hei and Lars).

I'm sure promotion and advertising will ramp up once they start talking console release.
Right now the game isn't really being advertised to the console crowd.

Strategy as in location testing?

It's common for arcade fighting games.

What are you talking about. This kind of thing is standard for the genre.

There's no point advertising it to the mainstream when the console port hasn't even started development.

October seems... Soon.

Does this bode well? I feel like it doesn't bode well. Do we know when production started?

TTT2U's been on for years as an arcade release

Plus I doubt this game's scope is any bigger than TTT2 given the way they are advertising it specifically for the most hardcore players.

probably a barebones release with a focus on the core mechanics.Which is not a bad thing.

um no this is really outdated right now.

You can do a simultaneous release and patch the game later as per arcade players feedback.

They are killing the game's hype by having it in the arcade for year(s) before the actual release date for the rest of the audience.

In TTT2 the game already felt old by the time it release because its been in the arcade for a year and there are tons of maximum level gameplay online.

Ofcourse that's my opinion.

how are they exactly advertising it to hardcore players?

All this game has had is a CG reveal trailer and a location testing event which many arcade fighting games have before an official release

Evo and Namco sugamo cup??

What kind of people follow these events other than the most dedicated players ?

TTT2 itself was designed that way too with its mechanics.

I am not saying its a bad thing.I guess they are not chasing after the casual crowd. And they paying more attention for the pro-level gameplay.

Its just a different direction and a good one for long time fans.

That is fine, but if it is Tekken Revolution with a 7 photoshopped onto the menu it is going to look pretty rough after a couple of ... Well it will look rough.

There isn't any hype to kill right now. Nobody's even seen the game yet.

With MK X being cross-gen/Unreal 3, Tekken 7 appears to be the first true next gen fighter. It'll get plenty of publicity for that fact alone.

And then the following info on those reveals get posted on major news sites. Remember that Tekken 7 was leaked by IGN before it was at EVO.

TTT2 was designed as Tekken 6 with an evolved form of the tag system in Tag 1 which cause the game itself to be too complicated/hardcore even for a lot of the serie's hardcore fans. The fact that the game is going back to 1v1 will make it less "hardcore" unless Namco is adding some ridiculous gameplay mechanic in it

You don't understand. It has always been like that. Nothing has changed apart from the west being more involved in this early phase b/c of Harada's twitter and his appearances at major events and conventions.
They will start advertising to the casual crowd as soon as a console release is in sight.
Do you think casuals care for Arcade games?

I want Tekken to make money and be popular as ever.

Its one of the games that got me into gaming.I don't want to be super niche and difficult cuz "e-sports".
