I haven't played a Tekken game since 3 and somehow I still muscle memory some things here and there. Of course, I get torn apart when playing online, but insisting on doing rematches and slowly learning how the other player plays until I beat him feels good.

For those sending me invites on PSN, sorry. I'm currently doing the "Set turbo mode to X button with Katarina in Treasure Mode" trick to unlock everything without having to play lol. I'm still available on PC though.

And i checked the google spreadsheet and we got almost 35 people on it. Looking good.

If you haven't added your info yet, quote this post to see the link so you can add your PSN, steam id, gamertag for other gaffers to match up with ya.

Maybe the link can be added onto the OT so I can stop reposting it?

Quoting for sheet.

You know, I do wish everything wasn't tied to your record. I hate fighting a character for the first time and fumbling around and losing and having it be on my record. Fills me with anxiety and makes me not want to try again lol.

I can't be the only one. I'm trying to get the tourney trophy and I came across a lucky chloe douche who spams to win and I couldn't figure it out in time. Hate that.

Rank in the arcades was offline for years.

And you knew who to fight beforehand.

Yeah if I dont want to play a bears scrub I should be able to avoid that.

Unless you were leaving the machine when you saw who put their quarter up, you had no control.

It's the same thing.

'OMG learn a new combo!' yells a stranger on the internet at me after getting launched by the same move 3 times in a row.

Jin still doesn't look as good as the PS2 demo from 9999 years ago and Kazuya as good as the cover of Tekken Tag. Those tech demos were well ahead of their times.

ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..
In Jin's case, memory is a fickle mistress. :p

Also, relearning Ling. She is fun, but that moveset is massive. Basic combos are easy, and in the end not doing advanced stuff costs about an estimated 20% damage output during the match. I'll survive. But I need to learn her wallgame, that costs me a lot. Also, hurrah for Paul being a strong brute :p

I never get any open mic rages or messages when I play. I must be doing something wrong.

I've intruded into a few lobbies with two or three people that know each other practicing together and screeching on their mics. Made me miss XBL briefly. Very, very briefly.

I'm playing Ranked and I'm crying right now dawg WE BACK LIKE WE NEVA LEFT!!! I'M STILL ON MY FIRST BREATHE!!!!! Man, my Asuka did ok for 3 matches, lost 1, picked Jin and we back to winning. I missed this feeling. I fought this tough ass Master Raven who was Korean Backdashing all over the place and avoiding the fuck outta my moves, it was crazy. I can't do that stuff but my Jin cut straight through her stupid ass balloons.

This Jin's world lady. You beta recogniz!!!

Katarina's f,f,f+3 gives me life.

Insane range, low crush, hits mid and -8 oB

Only thing better is Claudio's running 2. Fucking +7 oB and gives Starburst on hit.

Indeed
Wish it tracked alittle more
Even on block you are left in prime postion for her sweep launcher if they press anything

getting locked into combos constantly. It's no fun to not be able to do anything the entire match.

You just gotta learn the game then. Everyone knows once you're in a combo there's nothing you can do so they give you all the tools you need to make sure you don't get in that combo. You got side-stepping, parries, armored moves to absorb damage at the right time, a lot of tools.

Who do you use?

I'm probably the only one not liking this game. I'm really not feeling it and it's just frustrating.

Were here to help, what's frustrating and perhaps we can help find a solution. Is it movement? Is it blocking? Is is the amount of moves...? We GAF'ers got each other back. :p

those are juggles and its a mechanic that punishes players who leave them self vulnerable either due to an unsafe move or getting hit by a counter hit.

If you don't want to get launched a lot, I recommend learning how to punish juggle starters. Most juggle starters launch at mid. The few that launch at low are reactable and can be punished by you starting your own juggle on them. After blocking them.

Utilize safe hits and jabs more so then moves that leave you at a negative frame advantage or can have you launched. I suggest going into training mode and doing simple jabs and seeing (with hit analysis on) which moves you can utilize to hit your opponents safely without being launched or punished hard.

Also block A LOT till you learn the string. Sometimes you'll think an attack is done when it isn't quite finished yet. Blocking Mid and high attacks are super important. Lows aren't too bad unless they are a hero that can get a juggle off of it, which means if you block the low, they can be launch punished. They can be reacted to if you're quick enough. (Except for the evil hellsweeps) Only lows that can't be reacted to and you have to predict are quick low damage low attacks that don't launch or low attacks that don't juggle.

Tekken has always had brutal juggle combos if you're not careful.

Ok thank you for the information we can help. And as you see many here providing great advice.

I'll add my two cents:

Tekken is a game about making the opponant "Whiff" (miss) their attack. And then launching them becuase of their whiff.

As many suggested learn your launchers, and combos. But in addition learn movement. Becuase good movement will keep your character away from many attacks. And good movement allows you to make the other player "Whiff"

Good movement in Tekken is called universal back-dash. You can youtube it lots of information how to do it.

Lastly I grabbed some resources from other GAF'ers for new players. Here are some resources you can look at and it will help you be less frustrated and enjoy this amazing game:

Right now I'm trying to use Josie. I'm not use to feeling helpless once in a combo. I've never really played Tekken online. I've been trying to side step me block mostly.

Were here to help, what's frustrating and perhaps we can help find a solution. Is it movement? Is it blocking? Is is the amount of moves...? We GAF'ers got each other back. :p

I think it's blocking and constantly getting into their combos. Seems like everyone I play online are combo masters lol

those are juggles and its a mechanic that punishes players who leave them self vulnerable either due to an unsafe move or getting hit by a counter hit.

Thanks for the tips. I have noticed that I've stopped blocking in the middle of a combo or I just don't block on time. I think I need to try to switch it up too and try more safe hits like you said. I can do Josie 10 hit combo occasionally so I think I'm focusing to much on trying to get that off.
