Ever go to shows at ridglea theater? Unless it's closed been a while since I went up there.

I literally live right around the corner from the Ridglea theater and have never went. It was closed for a time but I actually thing it has opened again. It's easy to overlook when you go to Bass Hall all the time.

The restaurant section needs beefing up. Dallas is all about the food.

My contribution. Fogo de chao. http://www.fogodechao.com/locations/dallas

Amazing place where it's all you can eat high end meats and an amazing salad bar

Also what about hurricane harbor? It's not the best but it's still pretty good
Fogo is the bomb. Me and a bunch if friends went to the Addison location when we graduated from college. I love Dallas and hope to stay even though we came over from Ireland. El Fenix is my fave tex-mex restaurant. Anything they serve with their grilled sweet onions is amazing.

I haven't been to Hurricane Harbor since it was known as Wet'n Wild. I was always tense at water parks though since I don't like heights.

Nice to see a dfw thread. Go mavs!

How is Smoke not on the bbq list? And St. Pete's, the place right next to Angry Dog sells a good hamburger too, for the price. But really their chicken fried chicken burger is GREAT, and so is their tuna burger.

Alright!

So I'm the suburban pleb in this thread, but I'll recommend St. Pete's Dancing Marlin down in Deep Ellum. Me and a friend went there and had some great modern American food; I was reminded of the Snuffers on Greenville which closed down recently (how I wish I could recommend that place...dem cheese fries). If any of you ever travel up to McKinney and need/want to eat, try the San Miguel Grill (reliable family joint near Highway 5) for Tex-Mex and Cavalli's for Neapolitan pizza. Best theaters are the two Angelikas (which have better programming than they used to a year ago) and the Richardson Drafthouse, which feels pretty tame compared to other locations.

I'm so glad I no longer have a commute and work from home. Driving from Lewisville to downtown was a pain in the ass. Now I have to deal with 121 and service road construction thanks to Nebraska Furniture Mart but oh well.

I am specifically looking for jobs in Irving just to avoid commutes. Luckily Las Colinas seems to be the place for jobs.

Anyone working at a company looking for Marketing Directors/managers or Video Producers (Filming, editing, post production for web and broadcast TV) let me know!

Breakfast doesn't usually come up much in food threads, but Oldwest Cafe has some of the best breakfast stuff I've ever had. It's always packed but if you can manage to get in, soooo gooood.

Yup, Cocky's has some amazing wings and the all you can eat is killer. Not a fish guy, so I don't partake in this, but they also do all you can eat catfish on Sundays. Not sure what times, but if you like catfish you might check it out.

Also, a burger place I really enjoy and is right down the street from me here in Mansfield is Hideout Burger. They have a lot of variety, and if you like spicy, they got you covered with the Ghost Burger. Has a special sauce with ghost peppers. I haven't gotten to that point yet... best I can do is the Hideout Burger which has Habanero sauce and a billion jalapenos lol.

That is going to be a huge boon for Texas. Not a huge fan of Toyota but it's good to see them coming here.

The train robber is a steal of a deal as well. $4 for a huge burrito stuffed with breakfast goodness. I'll back you up on this one!

EDIT: Definitely not $4 lol. Still great though.

I'm not a fisherman myself, but I can tell you we have a ton of lakes. Lake Ray Roberts to our north is fantastic, and Lake Fork (about an hour and a half east of Dallas) is considered to be one of the best bass fishing lakes in Texas.
Awesome! Maybe I can get a job with Toyota in Plano. You need IT guys in right? I need to figure this out.

If any of you like Italian food, I would suggest a place called Vito's Pizza Restaurant in Irving off of Esters. I went there yesterday cause a friend of mine suggested it and it was delicious and reasonably priced.

People looking for a college, TCU's campus is mighty pretty (and filled with a ton of attractive ladies)

Dutch's right by the school has some of the best burgers in the area, too.

Some of the best pizza I've ever had was Cavalli Pizza Napoletana in Irving. Get ready for a long wait during hours though.

Good! People need to know about the Arts and Jazz Festival.

Did not know about that. Going to check it out next year for sure.

Burger Street will always have a place in my heart. Too bad they're only in DFW :(
I live right next to one. Love their shakes.
Wow a dfw OT. Also whoever said burger street rocks. They have some of the best burgers.

Yessss. Best fast food burgers by a long shot. Had no idea there were GAFfers in DFW, this has made my night.

I'm moving to Euless next month which I guess is in the DFW area. What are some good game shops if any? Also does dfw have any import shops too?

girlfriend here:
I've been going to Dallas for the summers for a while now. My cousin is a chef out there. He was originally the head chef of Bob's Steak and Chop House, now he runs a burger joint called the "Stackhouse" and it's right across the street from Baylor downtown.

Any recommendations on GOOD mexican food? and not crappy TexMex stuff either.
Stackhouse rocks my face off!

Check out E-bar. (funny name for a Mexican food place). Dallas isn't amazing for Mexican food, but I found this pretty good.

How can I forget LA Burgers? It's a Korean fusion joint that is so good. There's one in Irving and in Carrolton. Bogogi burger with fried egg? Yes please!

I used to live in Dallas for a few year. But ive always wondered what the Dallas World trade center was. Is it like a mall? or just a bunch of offices?

The only thing I know about it is how ugly it looks. Sticks out like a huge, brown lego block off I-35.

Meh. Think spring carnival with a big bazaar of shops with handmade art stuff. It's better for families than single folk, as it has a bunch of stuff for kids to do. Stages with music, rides, games, fair food, etc.

You can check out the schedule of events here: https://www.mayfest.org/

Looks like it would've been a good event to go to. Had to be stuck in Waco since Thursday, ugh. Did you want up going?

Surprising to hear it's "Meh." Sounds to me like it would be fun.

To turn it around, what are people's favorite event or festival in the area? I'd like to start planning out some fun events to go to with the SO.

The magnolia area (near south Fort Worth) has some pretty good spots and puts on art shows every so often. Also there is first Friday on the green which is a free outdoor show with local bands and whatnot. Also, I was talking with another gaffer of having a pot luck or making our own dishes at a restaurant I quasi work at. We could have a private luncheon.

My wife and I ended up going. Was worthless, nothing of quality or interest to be found. The most enthusiasm was found at the duck racing booth...

On the plus side we got to see Ft worth and quickly decided we didn't like it, lol. We will stick to the Dallas side.
