Don't panic, people. Unless you happen to live in a place with dysfunctional medical care (like, say, frequent abductions of patients from quarantine), things aren't going to be nearly as out of hand as the West African outbreaks.
If you live in a western nation with a decent healthcare system, it won't be an issue. Ebola isn't as contagious as other viruses like the flu, in addition for a person to even be able to spread the disease they already have to be showing symptoms. The reason the outbreak hasn't been stamped out already is do to poor sanitation, poor healthcare systems, and general lack of knowledge on how to treat those who are infected, often the disease spreads through families who choose to care for the sick themselves.
Nonsense, it's the ebolapocalypse and we're all goners. So far, in 30 years, Ebola has killed less people than Malaria kills every two days. AIDS has killed 30 million people worldwide - Ebola: 2000 in the same time.
are you licking it, shoving it in your eyes or anus? maybe rubbing it in open wounds? What if I get on an exercise machine and accidentally touch someone's left over goo slop?
Hospitalised Hong Kong woman tests negative for deadly Ebola virus
No suspected Ebola case in HK
Come on guys. This is getting ridiculous.
are you licking it, shoving it in your eyes or anus? maybe rubbing it in open wounds?
no? then youre fine
just wash your hands and dont roll around vomit or dead bodies
The Hong Kong story was interesting to me. I mean, did the woman have any link to West Africa?
Surely they wouldn't report on anyone with "Ebola symptoms" halfway around the world.

People need to seriously chill out.
Yes, Ebola is a scary and horrible disease, but it's really fucking difficult to spread in developed countries. Not because it burns itself out, but because hygiene is leagues better for the vast majority of people, and the protocols and assets to contain any possible outbreaks would be magnitudes better than what they have in West Africa right now.
Also this seems to be a tabloid, so sensationalist title is sensationalist.
Personally I am more worried about mutations.
After the SARS epidemic, people there are a lot more on edge about this type of stuff so I'd imagine such stories are more "click-baity" than in other parts of the world. The Hong Kong story was interesting to me. I mean, did the woman have any link to West Africa?

im not leaving my house
I'm not too worried.
/stays at home until ebola crisis has resolved itself.
I'm very easily frightened... Suggestible I think the word is? Don't know why I click these threads. Always turns my stomach then I start freaking out. I don't want to go anywhere for the next few months if this crisis continues.
Meanwhile, my parents have informed me I must go to the doctor in a few weeks to get some shots for College.
Literally the only thing keeping my fear somewhat in check are the comments here saying its not actually as bad as the sensationalist titles are saying. Still man, I don't want to leave my house.
It's like H1N1 all over again. Granted I don't usually like to make light of these kinds of things, so for me it always good to have some kind of back-up plan. It also helps that living in British Columbia Canada means that it's easy to escape highly populated areas within a matter of hours if not less depending on where you live.
Winter is coming
Welp. Every public toilet that you sit on could be a transmission point. Also, that average person touches their nose and eyes hundreds of times a day.
Being able to transmit through sweat or urine is pretty concerning.
So far, in 30 years, Ebola has killed less people than Malaria kills every two days. AIDS has killed 30 million people worldwide - Ebola: 2000 in the same time.
Maybe they got careless. Who knows. Until virus is contained it's gonna be pretty scary if you live in any big city that has flights to Africa.
:|
Are you saying that all three doctors got careless and that it's not possible that something else may have happened due to us not knowing something about the virus?
It doesn't hurt to consider all the options as long as we don't go psycho over it.

what kind of dipshit goes to places like this and is like "well ill probably be okay". dude should get a nice hard punch in the face
Humanity can be astoundingly stupid and violent, but when its existence is threatened, it can be amazingly competent.
Climate change (and our refusal to do anything about it) and our continued rapid destruction of our biosphere unfortunately make this an untrue statement.
ok im legit scared now
what's next?
