OlliOlli 2 |OT| All it costs is your Dualshock 4

Wow, the syncing is really bad in this... so much so the process is completely manual. Even if I sync on the Vita *then* open up the game on PS4, I still have to sync again for it to see my progress. I know for sure this wasn't how it worked with the first game, so why change it? So annoying.
Totally agree about the sequel's music being samey. For me, this soundtrack isn't in the same league as the original.
Glad I'm not alone. It's that it's mostly ambient chiptuney stuff that doesn't really go anywhere that kinda grates. At least with the last we had some electronic, low-fi, even jazz was in there. But there's just none of that at all in this one :(

Shiiiiiiiiit. Any consensus on what the best grips are?
For me, these are perfect. Posted them on the last page:
Yeah, I'm about the same on both counts. Completed most of what I've done so far on Vita, but the really tough ones I did in a snap on PS4. FWIW I was also using these grips on my controller:

Fit snugly on the sticks, offer great grip. Ebay cheapos, I think I got mine for around $3AU for a pair.

This is probably my GOTY so far, this month PS+ is so strong.

However, the rate at which this game burns out your sticks is crazy. Could someone link me some good grips on Amazon specifically as I'm gonna have vouchers for there soon? Thanks.

This game ruined my left stick, just sticks and hangs in spots now. I love it, I can't wait to buy new sticks because this game was worth it.

This game...probably my GOTY so far and I'm only just now getting to Aztec. Its definitely going to change from GOTY but as of right now...dayum. Manuals=jesus

Amazing sequel, very happy this was on Plus this month. They managed to perfect their formula and god damn it's slick.

Currently unable to do the Smith Grind to Frontside Bigspin challenge on Underground Railroad though. I've never wanted to wing my DS4 against a wall quite as much as I do right now. For some reason I just can't get the Frontside Bigspin to activate.

EDIT: Nvm I got it. I was taking my finger off of the left trigger without realizing it so it was pulling off a different trick. I'm an idiot. I love this game.

Shit just ruined 2 left joysticks on 2 PS4 controllers playing this game. So fucking worth it though.

Also this soundtrack is amazing. So happy to see Tobacco on here.

What's the deal with the most advanced tricks that have a second white direction arrow? I can't figure out what the timing/order is for pulling these off.

I was so frustrated trying to pull of a double heelflip. I would get it maybe once every 35 tries. the white is when you go back in a direction you already were.

Question: How do I control what tricks come out of my manules? For instance, if I manule off of my back wheels, how do I do a kick flip?
You just have to reset the starting position of your analog stick.
So for example you push the stick to the left when you land to pull off a manual, you then move your stick back to the right in a counter-clockwise motion being sure not to let go of the stick (and therefore execute a trick), with the stick now pushed to the right you just have to let go and you will perform a kickflip.

Generally speaking unless it's for a challenge goal (or trick variety) I wouldn't recommend this when going for combos simply because it adds unnecessary motions for you to perform and reduces the window to perform tricks.

This game is fucking amazing, and it actually gives me flashbacks to the time when I skateboarded myself, it feels sooooo good when you nail it.

The soundtrack too, fuck YES.

Just curious, how many people here also played OlliOlli 1?

Only one trophy away from the platinum. Daily Grinds can't come quick enough.

I just completed that goal. The easiest way to do it is to do that trick, then go down the secret passage near the start where the developer's head is. Just manual all the way through there, super easy :)

Is cross-save still broken?

I don't think about trophies with this game (too hard).
I still have OlliOlli 1 installed. Yesterday I finally beat the first 3 parts of Neon City (had hit a wall and didn't play for a while). OlliOlli 2 is a huge improvement in terms of control. It allowed me to return to OlliOlli 1 and get past that wall.

Was really enjoying both OlliOlli's until just now....

Damn.

Is Sony still replacing controllers? Both of mine are bad, this one is obviously worse. Both from launch.

OlliOlli 1 did this to my PS4 controller. I think it's insane to play this game without an analog stick grip. It will eventually do that to most PS4 controllers. It's unavoidable due to the build quality of the DS4 and the constant rotation (friction) that greatly increases the decay of an already cheap rubber cover. Go to Amazon, get "Grip It" ($5) and you'll be okay.

Heh hopefully the button remapping on the new ps4 update is robust as it looks

Going to change a few things with olliolli2!

I bought it on that flash sale for $3. Completed everything cept RAD, and a couple of pro challenges on Neon.

I gotta give a shout out to the music... at first I didn't think it was as good as the first, but then I heard. "L" www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHcuxJNTWXM

"Tape Eater" www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGrL5qJF5pg

"Sapphire" www.youtube.com/watch?v=aA2XhIy78_I

and "Shinra" www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_59T0xAKwg

all as ear pleasing as my fav tracks from the first.

edit: also wow at all the dual shock joystick stories... I remember the first instant I noticed mine rubbing, I ordered some covers for like $5.

Is cloud saving working for anybody else? Every time I try to sync it on either device, it says that I'm not connected to PSN, even though I 100% am according to everything else on the system.

This game.

Any tips on how to go from a smith grind into a frontside big spin, do I hold L down without letting go for both tricks? I know I'm doing something wrong. :(

Yes, you first land the Smith grind by holding L + Down.
Next with the analog stick pointing down as you grind you want to perform the clockwise half circle motion while still holding L and let go at the 12 o' clock position to perform the Frontside Big Spin.

I recommend loading up the Skatepark and practicing on the Grind Switches tutorial level.

So yeah. This is going to end up near the top of my end of the year list. Didn't play the first one. This one has me absolutely HOOKED.

I got these and I use them on every single controller I have. They are just a little loose on the WiiU Pro controller, otherwise they are solid, very inexpensive, and the only real downside I see is the crazy colors, but that did not bother me at all. Just might bother others.

This is reminding me of the first games OT, where I said I loved the game, and that it gave me a hotline Miami vibe with its awesome tunes, pixel graphics, and in-the-zone gameplay.

Then I was promptly accused of being a clueless marketing guy for the game! Lol! Just cause I gave it high praise and made a hotline Miami comparison!! People here can be cute.

Got the 2nd game just waiting to be torn into as soon as I can take a small break from Mon Hun XD

Been getting better and still really enjoying it but finding the monochromatic color palates in a few of the level motifs adds some extra frustration to runs. Titan Sky and Gunmetal Creek in particular. It gets a bit more readable after a few dozen tries and the layout becomes more familiar but I find myself wishing for clearer definition between the backgrounds and interactive elements.

i still can't double heelflip argh

It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it.

Hold L1, then start the left stick to the left <-, roll it down and around 180 degrees to the right -> then quickly back down and around another 180 back to the left <-

Works for me about 4 times out of 5, just gotta make sure you do it quick enough

so i got this game after 100%ing olliolli 1. i didnt even know this was a thing. been playing 2 all morning then i saw black powder all over the ps4 controller left stick LOL. stopped and continued on the vita.

it must be reiterated. DAT SOUNDTRACK.
im a huge fan of trip hop/future garage/experimental dubstep so this shit is magical to me.

Titan Sky level 2 is a real pain. I'm stuck for now.

Is that the one with the grind tunnel where you've gotta hop and hit two more perfect grinds? That one took me a while.

The second level on the Carnival is a noticeable difficulty spike as well.
