I'm a Prime member but it shows "Order total: $66.14" above the "place your Pre-order" button. Did you actually purchase it with the discount?

Yeah, I just did it last night. Cancelled my boxed copy and my total came out to 51.83 because of the pre-order discount. Not the sweet $40 and its lack of content price, but I think I'll live with that price since I wanted to go digital.

Edit: It seems I lucked out with a glitch and was able to get the digital code with the pre-order discount. Doesn't work anymore when I tried to place a second order.

No we are going off up the beta's currency of giving you 50 FP per victory, and 0 FP per loss. Not counting anything else it would take 2000 wins to reach 100,000 FP. Obviously we have no idea if Capcom will change it (I doubt it though). I think we will most likely get a healthy amount from SP content though and daily bonuses though. My guess would be everyone will most likely be able to get at least 1 character relatively easy. No way to really know until release or Capcom spills the beans on everything

Everyone seems to ignore that you got 1k Fight Money on every level up too.

You're going to have to grind it out a bit if you want all the characters and don't want to pay. Casual players should still be able to get 1 or 2 out of the first batch easy if what Capcom said about the single player FM is true though.

50 for victory (0 upon loss lol) means 2000 wins to afford a character. You get one character by clearing all the single player content, and I don't know how much doing your MMO dailies would give you to offset the hilarious amount of playtime it would take to get another, especially if you're a newbie or trash.

It's not going to take 2000 wins to unlock a new character. You'd have to be pretty dumb to believe that for a second. Either you get bonuses, the challenges award bigger numbers or you make more per win that you did in the beta.

Beta FM payouts were not necessarily indicative of the payouts you see in the game.

You also get FM from leveling up characters too iirc. Not that it would be a long term solution, but it does contribute overall.

they said you would get enough FM from the story mode (hope you also get FM for the DLC storymode ) so lets say you get two characters for *free*.... you better use those on the ones you want because 100k you get 50 FM per win 0 for a loss now that could change

lets be real the whole "free DLC characters you can unlock with ingame money" was just for the press release .... they want to sell the season pass, there was a reason there was 5 versions of SF2 capcom doesnt have alot of other games that make money

Terrible news if it's true. Now I don't have any excuse not to buy it considering I can actually use my PS3 fight stick.

You wait until two weeks before SF5 comes out to tell me that I didn't need a new fightpad

Isn't the game releasing next week?

Is there a chance we'll see Alex reveal trailer tonight? That would make my hype meter explode.

Well if they are going to announce that Alex will be DLC character for March I would assume there would be a trailer also. All character announcements have had trailers.

they said you would get enough FM from the story mode (i assume both ones since a the real story is free DLC) so lets say you get two characters for *free*.... you better use those on the ones you want because 100k you get 50 FM per win 0 for a loss now that could change

They always have said that it was for people who put a lot of time into the game and so that you can buy the one you want. Assuming that you get all characters free by just playing online few times is pretty ridiculous IMO.

So for the people that elect to go for the Season Pass... what is fight money used for? Can I buy extra costumes with it, or is it just a useless currency?

You can get costumes and probably stages. I'd be surprised if they didn't add more BGM to the game too.

Unless they changed it from the beta I certainly didn't receive 1K Fight Money per level up. I have a video of me having a Level 3 Character and being Level 4 and I still only had 550 Fight Money (I got my ass handed to me majority of the beta).

Still, I think Capcom will allow most players to unlock at least 1 or 2 characters easily.

Some alternate costumes for sure (namely the Story Mode alts). Probably stages & some colors as well.

i agree and always knew it was BS anyone that is 'pro' will buy the season pass just so they can at least train vs the new characters and casuals wont play enough to buy them with FM

If you play the game a lot you'll be able to unlock everyone. Missions will continue to pay out, new characters can be leveled lowering the diminishing returns. The plat requires you to get level 200 on a character, there were people that got 20-40k on the last Beta alone.

This is the same type of model league of legends uses and they don't even get $60 on the base game. They aren't going to be depending on everyone buying season passes, if you play a lot you'll unlock everyone.

There are costumes that are available after you beat the story mode with everyone that are unlockable with fight money. Possibly other stuff like stages will eventually be unlockable. But i think the big plan would be to buy the season pass and then save up all your fight money for season 2

I could have sworn in Beta 4 you got 1050 FM for each match you won and leveled up on. 50 for the win, 1k for the level up.

Capcom's press release also stated you get a level up bonus bit no specific figure is mentioned in it.

So PS3 compatibility ensures I will just track down an old Fightstick Pro or TE on the semi-cheap rather than shell out big $$$ right now for the new hotness. Good stuff.

This is definitely great news to behold.

Alex being first and legacy controller support coming!

Although I don't have any PS3 peripherals besides Rock Band controllers, but still good to hear.

I could be patient with spectator and challenges be added later, as long as the dev team makes sure it works well when they release it (in the case of the former feature).

And 100K, going to be a huge grind mostly seeing as I just started my college semester. But I'll manage.

I did get around 2000 FM on each of the last 2 beta tests. But again, mostly haven't spent much time.

Wait

Challenges in March? The challenge mode or those training style character specific challenges?

It's a service game. In February you're essentially buying into an evolving service that would net you a lot more than you would normally get in the long run, but is also not entirely "finished" in the traditional sense the day it comes out.

Think of it like an open beta period in an f2p game or a notably polished Early Access title.

If yes. Mine baby mine.

i can't wait until people no longer have to explain what 'games as a service' is on GAF

driveclub still makes people blow a gasket

Good news. I like that I won't have to suffer using PS4 pad until my Ps4 stick arrives, and 1 character a month makes sense because otherwise they wouldn't have the full roster playable by Capcom Cup and that seems to be the whole reason why the game is releasing in this state. This way the roster will be complete by August/September and everyone will have a few months with the new characters before Capcom Cup. I really want to see a dlc character trailer soon.

In regards to PS3 stick compatibility... what about my TE working on PC for SF5?

I bought a USB card with VIA chipset and mine works on PC when I use those ports...haven't checked if that's still the case, but it worked on Windows 7. They were under $10 last I checked.

So they'll probably take a few months "break" (working on characters and probably other DLC like alts and backgrounds) between this season and then start up with a new character a month next year.

Or what do you think?

If they are actually using the 1 a month plan then that means they will have everyone out by August. That gives people 3-4 months time to practice with the final season one roster for Capcom Cup. Then they can announce next year's roster at that event then take a break till they start back up the following year.

The math start off already because the Beta win give you 100 and the lose give something too.

You receive 1k for level up too.

People is just hating for nothing.

I honestly thought a lot of you talking about using a Sega Saturn controller were joking, but I'm sure you guys are serious. I know it hasn't come out yet, but would the Mad Catz fightpad be comparable to that Saturn controller? I was pretty competent with the DualShock 4 during the beta, but may need to eventually move on from that.
