Alex coming to SF V on March / PS3 sticks compatible.

He isn't though? Abel/Juri are the main characters in 4 and if the CG opening is any indication V is Nash's gig.

Abel seemed to basically get ignored by the fanbase and isn't even in the follow up to the game he started in. Juri had an important role but I don't think she was intended or interpreted as the MC.

The CG intro put me under the impression that Ryu is the MC again and his rivalry with Necalli will be a big part of the story.

Anyone have any idea if a ps4 stick will work on a ps3? I realize I might be a few days too early with this question, but if I'm going to pay a decent chunk of change for a stick, I'd like to play some 3rd strike too.

Please capcom/Sony, bring 3rd strike, alpha trilogy and some street fighter 2 collection to ps4.

Pretty much every stick I've seen for PS4 has PS3 mode also. So you should be able to use almost any stick on PS3.

Yeah, I agree with pretty much all of this. Satsui no Hado and Akuma are stale as hell now and it looks like they're still dragging it out by adding Necalli (but I can't say much until I play the game myself). I think Ryu would work better as a Scorpion-like role in Street Fighter: He's there, he interacts with other characters but other characters take the spotlight. He's still the face of the game, but it's not all about him.

EDIT: Yeah Ken can be the same, but you're right in saying the addition of Eliza and Mel make him a stronger character. I'm surprised Capcom haven't thrown in a family member in the games for Ryu.

For what it's worth Necalli could be the Rival Ryu needs to really stand out as an interesting lead. I don't think that will happen, but I'll wait and see. But yeah Ryu is an icon, he just really is not well suited to have a story based around.

I think Ryu was abandoned or orphaned as a child and raised by Gouken. I do recall reading Makoto was originally planned to be his sister, but I don't know if there is any truth to that or what the source of the info is supposed to be.

I'm really hoping that Necalli can add something new to the whole Satsui no Hado storyline. My theory is that he's the 'patient zero' of the Dark Hado which is why he's probably feuding with Ryu and why Evil Ryu will probably factor into the story. I do agree with you about Ryu being an icon and not main focus worthy, but we'll see what SFV brings to the table. To me, this is their last chance to make me care about this storyline.

I'm not really a Makoto fan, but I like the idea of her being Ryu's sister. I love the family aspect in fighting games (which is why I love Laura and Sean so much) so I would've loved to see Ryu and Makoto as siblings.

The whole SF4 story from Super onwards revolves around her and SIN, she has a whole OVA for her, she's the default character in the select screen (anecdotal I know), etc. Abel was the MC before but he kinda failed at it so Capcom got a new one that was popular lol

His Necalli thing should be just Ryu doing his thing. The main story is supposedly about Shadaloo and you have Nash with a big screen time on the CG fighting Bison DBZ style. Ryu is basically Akuma at this point, he doesn't have a story beyond "walk around and try not to go evil" until the end of SF3.

I am really hoping that they use SF5 to kill some of these incredibly tired storylines. Satsui no Hado has dominated too much of Ryu's story. Kill it with this entry, hopefully in the first season, and never mention it again.

I disagree.

It's annoying because we know that Ryu beats the Satsui no Hado and that means he probably had to fight Akuma one last time, so we're going to have to see this fight at least one more time before we get past it and I just can't be bothered to go through with it again.

With you guys talking about the story I have a bit of a silly question but is there any place that has a good write up of the Street Fighter story line, in order of canon timeline, that I can look at so I'd know just what's going? lol

To be honest, despite owning the PS2 Anniversary collection, I've only just now started playing III 3rd Strike and kinda wondering who is Gill, where he came from and all that considering Bison was always the big bad in my mind and where it fits with the games and now I discover SFIV and SFV takes place before SF3....I'm so confused. LOL

I played the Alpha games on PlayStation and SFIV but as for the plots and everything I couldn't tell you much.

That should be impossible. That looks too good. How could you do that in an hour?

I mean they've got the suspenders and everything which we didn't know about three hours ago. I'm amazed at how quick this was done.

A quick timeline is:

SF1
Alpha
SF2
SF4
SF5
SF3

In terms of a little more detailed timeline, use this:

http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2010/jun/03/street-fighter-series-plot-guide/

There's nothing cannon unfortunately, but it's the best we can do until Capcom deicde to make something official (which is unlikely seeing as it hasn't been done yet). In terms of characters, use this:

http://streetfighter.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Characters

It's got every character that's ever been in a Street Fighter game with a detailed run-down of who each character is and what they have done through out the games.

His Art is honestly out of this world. Check his twitter for other amazing stuff. He always does godtier art for stuff like Coop Cup etc.

And, keep in mind he had same amount of time as everyone else when they showed off the Bengus concept.

Ono tweeted him as well lol.

100k FM is a lot. I knew it would be grindy...but damn.

And maybe it's me, but I think they should give you some FM for losing too. Doesn't have to be a lot..can be like 10....but something.

It might be worth it to buy the season pass, then accumulate FM in the first 6 months to buy the 2nd batch of characters as they come out.

Shit son, thanks. I was just looking for a time like as well when I found out Guile wasn't on the men roster for this game.

Remember when everybody was gnashing their teeth wondering if any SF3 characters (especially Alex) was going to make it into the game as a playable character? Peppridge Farm remembers. Those were good times <3

Pretty sure it won't unless it's a PS3/PS4 compatible stick

Thanks guys/gals. I'll check out some cross compatible sticks and probably wait for one to go on sale. I'm way too much of a scrub player (been playing sf for almost 25 years now and still suck) to really spend a ton on a stick, but I love these games and would like to pick one up in the near future as I tend to play better at game centers.

Didn't catch the stream, did they confirm that 100k to unlock? Guess they could have double fight money weekends, and multipliers for streaks and such. All that could make matches a lot more tense. I still say wager matches would be really fun and intense.

I believe 100k was confirmed earlier in the week. You get a bonus on level up, FM for one player stuff and daily missions. I don't think it will be much of an issue if you play regularly.

If I recall correctly, Alex's shoulder scars in the SFIII games came from the fact that he wore his suspenders too much without a shirt (hence why you see them hanging by Alex's waist in the SFIII games). So Alex having suspenders in this game, which is supposedly about a few years before the SFIII games (probably 3 years away from 3rd Strike), makes tons of sense.

That is the weirdest Street Fighter trivia I've ever heard.

Sagat didn't get his scar from Ryu, he just used to wear a cross body messenger bag without a shirt.

It's a smaller detail that I didn't expect Capcom to address. But not only am I'm glad that Capcom did reference the fact, but it also makes me appreciate the design more.

I call BS on this. He had body paint not scars.

If we're sharing SF trivia, Laura is (indirectly) mentioned in SF3 promotional stuff for Sean and there are some details revealed about the Matsuda family. There are apparently three Matsuda children, with Sean being the youngest, Laura being the middle child and there being an older brother that is not named. Apparently Sean, Laura and the older brother's Father owns a barber shop in Brazil.

Does that imply the eldest is a half brother?

Never heard of it, do you have an official source?

I feel like somebody should make a weird/obscure sf trivia thread now. Based on the last few posts it would probably be some very interesting details most people don't know.
