I honestly kind of wish Disney would pull a SEGA and say "Oh hey this is in theaters now, go check it out."

Three weeks is going to feel like an eternity.

There's no way I would stand in line for more than an hour for a movie. Crazy talk. Even an hour is pushing it. If a new Superman movie was coming out and that sumbitch was getting 10/10 reviews across the board from everybody and their sweet ol' mama I still wouldn't wait over an hour in line to see it.

icespide I just called the Cinemark, the guy recommended 3-4 hours early since the theater it'll be screening in only has 295 seats.

I might try to get there 5 hours early now, fuck

I normally wouldn't but to see it 3 weeks early I can wait a bit

For the record I don't think this movie will beat Ultron, but if any non-Avengers movie would it's Civil War

Hoping the positive WOM pushes it through

Oh yeah I'm hoping it does too especially if its as good as it sounds, I just don't think it can.

Even if it can do around a Iron Man 3 gross, thats a huge performance and would be an increase of $150 million domestic for Cap 3, no small feat.

thanks for the tip, if I get there 4 hours early and still don't get in I won't beat myself up about it

I got in line for the Force Awakens 7 PM opening night first showing at 5 AM.

Looking at my phone in line and listening to podcasts isn't all that different from what I'd have been doing at home, and I was doing this to help get seats for 17 other people. (Sadly I'm one of those guys)

I've gotten in line for comic-con panels where I had to sleep there overnight. And that's just for trailers!

Being in line with people can be fun if they're cool.

What's this strange concept of "lines" for movies? I just book tickets and pick my seats weeks in advance if I give a shit. :p

The thought of assigned seatings for movies is bonkers to me. It's been general admission my entire life for every theater I've ever been to.

I just recently found an AMC near me that does reserved seating. Tried it out for BvS. Every seat was a recliner. Every seat. And those seats went all the way back. You could lay down and watch the movie. Some kids had blankets and pillows. Never again will I go to my normal theater. Bought CW tickets for that same theater the second they went on sale.

You're missing out. Once you find a theater that does it, it's sweet. Downside is you can't show up early and buy tickets or you get bad seats. You pretty much have to order ahead of time for opening weekend.

The theater I'm seeing this at tomorrow started with ticketed seats in 2010. So Star Trek 2009 was the last movie I stood in line for (till tomorrow of course, damn).

What's up with buying tickets in advance? Is there only one theater in your area? I've never had a problem getting whatever seat I wanted on the day of release, especially for big movies since theaters will usually clear out all their screens of other movies.

I recently started going to a theater that lets you book seats in advance, and the chairs are full on recliners, where you can literally lean it far enough back to where you are laying down watching the movies, and there is only one row on each level with a half wall dividing you from the rows above and below you.

Its a mind blowing game changer.

Do you live in a small town or something? Populated areas sell out showings for popular movies no problem. So unless you want to wait in line for over 1 hour, buying tickets in advance is the way to go.

Also, what's the downside? It baffles me that you wonder why someone would want to buy a ticket in advance really.

Lol Americans.

We're catching up. Specialty theaters like the Alamo Drafthouse do assigned seating. IMAX theaters typically do as well and chains with IMAX have been extending that feature to their regular screens as well. It's really the best. GA is a terrible practice that can't go away soon enough.

I don't go to any theater that's not the Alamo Drafthouse anymore anyway since they are all hot garbage in comparison. Decent food, good ticket prices, assigned seating and ushers to kick assholes out. What more is there to want?

I've never lived in a small town and it would make more sense that I would be used to packed theaters if I had. I don't care either way, I just don't get the point. I've never had to wait any length of time for good seats since, as I said, most theaters will clear out other screens for big movies.

Cinemark built a new theater last June in the town next to mine that is like this. It is glorious. I pretty much will never go to another theater again. The only bad thing is it has become so popular that you pretty much have to buy your tickets in advance if you want to have any chance to sit near the center of a row.

The other great thing is that on their XD screen (Cinemark's version of an Imax) they have started to rotate 3D and 2D showings. I already have my 2D XD tickets for Civil War on the 5th.

Almost every theater I go to does assigned seating. American, since that appears to make a difference. They all changed in the last year or two.

Yeah, ever since I moved to Columbus and found the theaters that have reserved seating with leather recliners and serve food/alcohol during the movie, I can't go back to a regular theater.

No but you sound like the guy who sat next to me at BvS. Were you giggling like a schoolgirl every time Batman hit somebody? :p

Yeah I will literally never go to a normal theater again. I have to drive 40 minutes to go the one I was talking about with the reserved seating and recliners and I don't even care. I would rather drive up there than go to the theater 5 minutes from where I live.
