These are 'social media reviews', the full press review embargo lifts on Sunday.

I'll keep adding more as I find them. Feel free to post any reactions I've missed
Here we go:

Jeff Canata, Slash Film

@jeffcanata

I saw Dr Strange. It is better than I could have ever hoped for. Among the very best Marvel films. It dazzles and entertains throughout.

Michael Lee, GeeksOfDoom

@eelyajekim:

#DoctorStrange undoubtedly has the best visuals and action sequences. It has some script issues, but it still is an absolute muse see!

Christina Radish, Collider

@ChristinaRadish

Had a damn good time with #DoctorStrange! It's a fun, funny, inventive movie with one of the best ensemble casts I've seen in a long time.

Beatrice Verhoeven, The Wrap

@bverhoev

#DrStrange was so much better than I thought it would be. Incredible performances by Tilda and Benedict. Yaaaas @Marvel

Steven Weintraub, Collider

DOCTOR STRANGE is unlike any previous Marvel movie and that’s why I love Marvel. They keep pushing boundaries and make it look easy.

Mike Ryan, Uproxx

@mikeryan

I liked DOCTOR STRANGE. The most self-contained Marvel movie in a long time. Fun visuals. Almost felt like a reboot of the first IRON MAN.

Erik Davis, Fandango/Movies.com

@ErikDavis

The action sequences in #DoctorStrange are unlike anything Marvel's done. There are so ferociously loopy, frenetic & nerdy, I adore them.

Peter Sciretta, Slash Film

@slashfilm

Doctor Strange's action set pieces make an MC Escher paintings look tame. Some really great, clever, incentive stuff. Worth the 3D ticket.

Jen Yamato, The Daily Beast

@jenyamato

#DoctorStrange is a stunning visual achievement. A welcome blast of weirdness that opens up the MCU. Super dug it. Maybe best viewed on

I wouldn't put #DoctorStrange in Marvel's top five but it's an entertaining movie with big ideas, gorgeous CGI and unique action sequences.

I love how Marvel lets folks talk about the movie damn near a month before it comes out

That Marvel Ego, it's planet sized

Not sure if there will be any actual weight to that comment about the parallels to the first Iron Man movie but it would make a lot of sense if Marvel wanted to position Strange as the next leader of the Avengers.

He won't lead the Avengers. He'll lead the brand.

Given that all the actors aren't getting any younger, introducing Strange and alternate universe fukkery is the next logical step to introducing the in-universe reset button when it's needed (or when they get the rights to X-Men back).

I'm super excited for this, in part because Cargill wrote it, but also because it looks inspired and visually inventive.

I just hope the narrative manages to make the villain not garbage.

I'm waiting for the guys at DoubleToasted to get around to it. I don't know why I trust their opinions so much but I do lol.

Impressions so far look strong though.

I am very glad to hear that it's self-containted.

I am getting a little tired of Marvel films where you have to do all this homework before you can feel any kind of connection to the story.

This can't be a good movie then because there aren't even 5 good Marvel movies

Sounds good & all, but I'll wait for the actual reviews before I get hyped.

Either way, Marvel must really be confident in the movie to let critics talk about it this soon.

Yeah i'm an MCU fan but aren't first impressions usually positive. We should probably wait for the embargo to be lifted and the reviews start coming in.

Well they haven't gotten a rotten movie by rotten tomatoes yet, so they have a good reason to not care.

You're talking about fan impressions from early screenings. These are critics impressions, the ones whose reviews count towards the RT aggregate

Their full reviews will not change from these impressions, they'll still be positive. Just more detailed.

Yeah these aren't "smegmalord44069420blazeit" and his impressions.

This is actual critical impressions, which means critical reception is already high.

One reviewer is saying that there's five sequences in the film that's as revolutionary as Matrix's Bullet Time stuff. I almost would trust smegmalord over an opinion like that.

And that person is still going to be saying that when the full reviews hit.

While this could've been a joke, the quality of Marvel's top 5 movies and the rest is pretty large.

Again, its just one opinion.

Best wishes.

Nah, if a critic in the afterglow of having just seen the movie still can't bring themselves to rate it as highly as their fifth favourite Marvel film, the film is probably not that great.
