NX to have no RAM! Everyone panic!
The actual discussion in the tweets is super cool.
Download textures from a server at runtime?! This is sounding crazy!

There's nothing stopping Nintendo from launching a NX console on a similar architecture later even if they first launch a hybrid.
I'm not sure about Nintendo marketing's capacity of handling more SKUs at once.
Emily Rogers recent posts are that its a home console which will be great for those that love portable gaming.
Also that the specs fit within the realm of what is possible with that sort of hardware.
What was that ad they had couple months ago.. only way to play or some shit? There's nothing stopping Nintendo from launching a NX console on a similar architecture later even if they first launch a hybrid.

I can think of two scenarios that make sense based on the rumors coming from Emily (dubious as they may be) and from the WSJ info that suddenly seems more on the money than it was assumed at the time.
1. NX is primarily a portable gaming machine that reverses what Nintendo attempted do with the Wii U. Instead of having a dumb terminal controller that displays items from the console, you have a cloud connected streaming device attached to your television with minimal processing power that makes your HD capable portable machine a home console while you're stationary.
2. The NX is a more traditional home console that pivots the Wii U concept in a different direction by changing the form factor and processing capabilities of the Gamepad to make it a device that can stream your games or natively play companion apps on the go.
I could get behind either one if the software support was there.
I wonder if the platform he mentions is NX: https://twitter.com/HenryHoffman/status/757866161979715584

Tsk tsk tsk.Assuming NX it implies multiple resolution support in software, right? Which could mean a whole bunch of different things.
For an unlikely example, Nintendo could mandate all software can be demonstrated via pc as 4k ready' even if a 4k system is a few years down the line.
Probably. If it's Tegra as rumored, it could be limited to as little as 3GB of RAM.
Everything is falling into place. It's time to accept that Nintendo has left the console market.
Malo you gotta chill.. jesus lolIt's certainly #1, which means that it'll only get handheld third-party support for the most part. I'm expecting western support that makes Wii U look good.

This is some major league conclusion jumping right there.
No, Philips said that's what Aonuma straight up told him.
Any kind of hybrid, compatible ecosystem etc.. concept won't be good marketing wise, if we're talking about a strong, simple idea that moms can appreciate. it's none of that.
Tsk tsk tsk.
Rosti, the sooner we get those minutiae the better, man.

Ofcourse, it's muchomalo.
Jumps to more weird conclusions than mario has hit 1up blocks in his entire career.
It's not that difficult of a concept. You can connect you handheld to the TV and can play also with your friends/family. The favourite type of ad for Nintendo.
For one thing, a hybrid *would* explain why so many of the rumors have talked about it as though it's a single platform.
I just assumed it wasn't because, y'know, Iwata said it wasn't.
What other platform could he be talking about? If it's Tegra, it can only use one LPDDR4 chip, which means 6GB max, and with ~25 GB/s bandwidth. I'm not "jumping" to anything; I'm just using the information available to me. Most rumors not from 10k or SMD64 are pointing to a hybrid handheld. I'm not going to believe in fairy tales about a console coming later, either.
Just cause you make a hybrid handheld dont mean you abandon the living room. Thats what the SCD is for! What other platform could he be talking about? 540p or 720p upscaled to to 4k for the masses!
This is gonna be the next Virtual Boy. Or DreamCast. VirtualCast.
They're not just gonna stick a Tegra in there, if that's really what it is. It's gonna be custom if anything and who knows what that entails.

Yes you are jumping. They won't just stick a tegra in there, regardless if they go with nvidia or not. So stop stating random things as facts. What other platform could he be talking about? If it's Tegra, it can only use one LPDDR4 chip, which means 6GB max, and with ~25 GB/s bandwidth.
The Nvidia Shield TV gets along fine with those specs, and NX is most likely going to be weaker than that if it's a handheld.

Nvidia Shield TV / Tegra X1 will be almost 2 years old once NX is released.
Ok, I'll do it. Don't worry, Eradicate: by "decent grounds", I meant the correlations between all the announcements. Hopefully, Level 5 won't make me look like a stupid in 2 days.
What have all the NX announcements so far in common?
Answer: they do NOT tell us anything about the graphical's potential of the device.
I wonder.
Could the plan for the NX have changed? The recent *hints* (even if doubted by their supplier) make me curious if the system hasn't actually pivoted somewhere. Emily's price/cost analysis is also a new twist on where we were only a few months back.
Sounds bizarre.

All these leaks are supposed to happen the same week as Level 5 Vision conference? Who has a slew of games to announce?
Coincidence...?
You must have heard of the scrolly shoulder buttons idea! And I'm thinking maybe a touchpad could replace the dpad and right stick, so magnesis would let you swipe up and down to change the distance instead of dpad buttons.
I'm going to highlight this and the original nVidia leak. There was word with that leak that Nintendo was getting one hell of a deal from nVidia as the latter wanted to tap the market and gain share into it.
That is one of the few ways I can marry the current information circling (that's been murmuring for a while now) without also attaching some unrealistic and absurd price to this thing that I just cannot imagine after the WiiU/3DS price issues that Nintendo faced. All the same, cheap price for not-cheap-parts would mean cheap parts which doesn't gel with the idea that this thing can handle modern ports (which puts a serious "bottom" on it).
It is very hard to fit this supposed (if not necessary) level of performance in a "hybrid" that is mobile. That'd be either outright magic or some very, very nice deals cut in Nintendo's favor on some high-end chips.
That's likely. If they are entering production I think it becomes unreasonable to expect silence as that starts going to the production facilities. AMD leaked the Scorpio and Neo ages ago, lol.

I'm not convinced that a hybrid that can play Android games as well is a guaranteed bomba, especially if it has a great pricepoint.
Maybe Emily said this today because they're preparing to announce something at the fiscal conference.
The only other "form factor" issue I could see driving up price? A phone.
Uh oh
I feel bad because Nintendo really wanted to keep this thing close to their chest

Why are you all sure about this huge leak? I've lost something?
As I expected. A news conference on July 27 has not yet been ruled out though. It was in a news conference Nintendo announced NX will release in 2017.
Hey guys. It's time for my monthly freak out NX post:
"OMFG just reveal it already!"
Thanks, that is all.
This is this person's current project (according to his profile). If this super secret potential platform is the NX and it has memory issues running this game, it doesn't sound good to me at all. But this is just speculation, he could easily be talking about some other platform.

Though a news conference could be what Takashi is referring to, considering he mentioned reporters.
Jonathan Blow "complained" about the PS4/X1 having "only" 8GB of RAM during the development of The Witness.

Sometimes Nintendo has two briefings/conferences/events in conjunction with earnings releases.Uh, that's exactly what the Tweet says, that there will be no news conference (briefing).
