I'm pretty sure One Piece's romance is just a huge Dragonball joke

Oda tries to make OP different so it may not end up like that romance wise.

So far we had plenty of "romance":

Usopp & Kaya,
Rogue and Roger
, or Leo and Mansherry, or Baby 5 and Sai, not to mention all the stuff with Hancock and lola, or how Sanji constantly acts and if you stretch it
Pudding and BM
.

And Luffy I believe says he doesn't want to get married.

I guess, but I never really thought of it that way.

also I like that we just casually moved on from that bizarro Bleach tangent

To be fair, the main romance in Bakuman was in the background for most of it. The one that got the most focus was actually pretty good imo.

The main romance was AFWUL, it had it's moments like Azuki coming to Mashiro in the hospital and supports him, but it never really evolves and they act like stupid awkward teenagers about this crap at times, it should be more developed since its the driving force for one of the main characters.

Hiromaru and Aoki romance was the best just due to Hiromaru being hopeless in love with her and his wack antics with his editor to try and impress her.

Kaya & Takagi romance was good, but Kaya really turns into just a support wife character after that, so much so she appears on the final volume with a vacuum when she was a bit more than that earlier in the series.

Yeah, I'd agree with that somewhat, remembering the manga. The main romance didn't really have much to it at all, even with good moments here and there. It's a bit of a problem for me since it's the driving force of the main character throughout the manga. The other romances are fine, but they could have had something to them.

Thank god i'm not the only that hates the romance i love the manga battles and the side characaters but the main romance is cringe though i do love the take that at idols culture.

The side romance, i think it was a romance can't remember i remember liking because one of the characters were hilarious, the gag manga guy also

The main romance is weird, but like I said it was in the background for most of the series so it never really bothered me. The Hiromaru and Aoki romance was pretty funny, and I actually liked the Takagi and Kaya romance. That one had the most on-screen development.

Yep. Luffy truly wants to live that pirate life.

Some Jump series have good romance, but, like...real people would actually get together and start dating in that situation. That's what a normal human beings do. But not so in Shounen Jump, there's always something weird going on, sometimes reasonable, often stupid. It'll never happen unless the series ends, and it just gets so tiresome.

(not counting timeskip stuff like Dragonball, not that they have terribly well-established romance anyway)

At least Oda gives us the benefit of having no romance, better than suffering manga writing not actual writing romance but basically ship teasing.

This and Dragon Ball are the way to do it.

Though people will still lose their shit if Nami or Boa don't end up with Luffy.

Man, has any Jump manga had good romance? Eyeshield 21 got closest, but it got away with that by never actually saying that the main couple got together, just implying it.

I've know Araki wanted to give the Part 4 Jojo a girlfriend, but his editor didn't let him.

My Hero Academia might do it right, but that remains to be seen.
Well I mean
Okuyasu is his girlfriend practically.

Shonen manga definitely has a problem with romances, especially battle manga. It's pretty annoying when two characters like each other and they take forever to talk about it, often not until the end of the series. Like, just fucking go out already! That's what makes me like how Yu Yu Hakusho handles it. Yusuke and Keiko were pretty much a thing since the beginning of the series, and they actually talk about shit.

Hopefully MHA doesn't fall into the same trap as Naruto and Bleach. But at least the MC in that series isn't completely oblivious like Naruto or Ichigo.

Not to mention Yusuke poking Keiko's ass during the Dark Tournament. Everybody knows they like each other, them two just don't know on what level though.

This is the most annoying thing, just have them hook up and then guess what...don't adress it aside from a line or 2 every so often.

Yeah, YYH and Kenshin did it near completely right. But they still didn't actually go through with it completely until the end, right?

On one hand, My Hero Academia has an extremely clear-cut romance, is written by a guy who could write it well, and who has given every indication that he'd be willing to do it. On the other hand...there's nearly every other shounen manga ever made. I give it a 50/50 chance.

I'm pretty sure it's gonna come up in the next arc, so we'll find out within the next few months, I guess.
...though it's not gonna come up until season three of the anime.

I sometimes wonder if all this "ship-teasing" crap is simply because most authors would have no idea how to deal with with actual romance.

Yeah they both more or less follow the same path where the Protag and main girl are clearly interested in each other, the rest of the cast pretty much treat them like a couple, but they don't "officially" hook up until the very end. FullMetal Alchemist follows that method too with Ed and Winry.

Gintama mostly uses romance for jokes.

Zonic

Gives all the fucks
> Is it the first major female that is close to the main character's age & the one he meets first?
> It's probably that one, come on.

When someone like Aoshi can get married Sasonke, you fuck up!

Though you are a free living type and I can't blame women for not wanting none of that.

Part 2 still has best JoJo.

Next you will say "no lies detected"

Next you'll say "what about Josuke"

one of these have to be right lol.

Joseph is great but I prefer a more well rounded cast. Part 2 is pretty weak in that department imo.
The only good Jobro in Part 2 is pretty much Stroheim. Part 4 has a much better cast than Part 2. Part 2 for the most part is only loved as much as it is cause it's propped up by Joseph, that and it's bat shit as fuck.
