That's shitty, as much of an understatement that is, i'm a victim of child abuse and shit like this makes my blood boils in ways that isn't constructive. A lot of yelling an a desire to physically harm the people harming the children, that isn't going to help anyone.

Is there anyway I hope there is some way we can help these children? Maybe shining more of a spotlight on these people.

Can you even imagine being Cody? Every day is a coin toss if your going to be messed with, you can't keep your guard down your always waiting for a prank your parents will afflict on you, your told your worthless that your an embarrassment that everyone in the neighborhood hates them because of you.
Your step brothers fight you on a regular basis because your the easiest target and its actively encouraged hell your own dad inflicts physical harm on you while he belittles you as a human being, your real mother isn't there and your probably a outlet for your step mum to put out all her frustrations on you and your sister because your a reminder of his previous wife. (Hell look at the fucking videos she is gleeful when she gets to prank them especially Cody). Icing on the cake is all of this emotion this frustration this pain is online for everyone to see, your friends neighbors and people at school.
FUCK THESE PEOPLE.

the videos of the kid being thrown to the floor by the dad and the sister being slapped by her brother are heartbreaking.

You can see in their eyes and reactions these kids have seen more of this shit off camera too. Fucking disgusting. If CPS can't intervene in an open&shut case like this i question their effectiveness and use.

Fuck these "pranks", I feel bad for the kids. Even if they were fake and scripted, people watching these videos will think this shit is normal. Even worse are the people that try to one up these "pranks" with real stuff. "look at me I'm a real prankster no fake bs".

These "pranks" reduce society to trash.

Guy says on the interview he reflex pushed the kiddo away cause he rushed him.

Gee man that sure as hell looks like a intentional throw into the shelf rather then a "hey! get back" push out of the way..

EDIT: as a father of 2 kids and I had some issues with anger and dealt with it for the sake of my kids. These videos are disgusting of whats happening to that boy, I really want to give him a hug and show him this is not how parents act.

Scumbags.

God one smaller thing that really annoys me about some parents is when they pull that "who's the best dad/mom?" shit as if they haven't conditioned the child to say that for a positive response.

I thought sometimes I've been rough with my little brother when we used to play fight and I feel bad about it. But this shit is straight up child abused.

It's hard to watch even in gif form. It's horrible the parents care more about money than the well-being of their children.

You know what is more horrible? Not only they don't seem to understand they're abusing their children, but they had a hefty following of people who liked watching those videos and see nothing wrong with them. It's normalization of abuse.

Edit: I made this joke before I learned that they made the kids say the "Please like" rant at the end of every video. Yeesh. Not only do the kids not seem thrilled to be doing that, it's so fucking manipulative.

Man, in the DeFranco video, where he showed all the shit that happened to the one son Cody, my first thought was "This is the story of how a murder/suicide came to be." That shit was awful, you've MORE than abused that kid, these people should be in prison.

How bad is it? Im not sure I should watch this stuff if the gifs alone made my blood boil.

I feel like anybody who has encountered abuse in the past can recognize that trademark combination of anger, frustration, confusion, and helplessness that Cody expresses in so many of their videos. The fact that his parents just try to pass it off as "oh well he's a REALLY good actor!!!" is absolutely disgusting and shows just how out of touch they are with his emotional state. It's obvious that he doesn't quite understand why he keeps getting put into these situations or why he's blamed for them, and that his siblings and parents constantly reinforce that it's all his fault and that he should be punished for it at every opportunity, whether it's physically or emotionally. I'd argue that it even seems that his step brothers actively enjoy bullying him, so I'd assume that this bullshit runs deep within the family. Pair that with the fact that Cody isn't biologically related to most of his family members and it should be absolutely clear what's going on here.

It also really concerns me that Cody regularly expresses feelings of alienation and distance from the rest of his family, and at some points literally questions why he's singled out and is treated differently from his other family members. His parents openly reinforce these feelings, both in private and when Cody is present. Even if you ignore everything else, I have a very hard time believing that that's scripted; even if it is, I'd like to know how this running theme is supposed to be entertaining. Presenting situations like these as "normal" or "silly" with no context is irresponsible at best, and should be seen as a problem in and of itself. Imagine, if this is what they present to the world as acceptable and even humorous behavior - what the fuck happens when the camera is off?

Either way, I really hope that Cody (and potentially his siblings) ends up in a better place because of the attention this is getting. I don't necessarily hope he gets separated from his family because the foster system is a shitshow for 99% of the kids that pass through it, but based on what I've seen that might end up being the best route for him. At the very least, I hope at some point his parents decide to reassess themselves and their family dynamic, but it doesn't seem like that's going to happen anytime soon.

That excuse is so bad. So his own kids runs to him and his instinct is to push him away? What the hell is that.

Yeah, it really is heartbreaking

Child is clearly going thru real emotional distress in those videos, yet the parents.... they just don't see it or don't care

I mean... how... just hoooooooowwwww

this stuff legit shook me and wish there was something I could do :(

"they are in hot water over pranking their kids? how bad could it be?"

Damn... yeah, that was pretty bad.

The way they are focusing mostly on one kid (Cody) is beyond terrible...

So has anybody referred these people to childrens' social services? The video evidence is pretty damning.

edit: nevermind, just read they have been.

That's basically it. I don't really like to jump on the internet pitchfork bandwagon, especially when stuff like this tends to be seen through a keyhole, but the pranks (from what I've seen) are totally devoid of a "gotcha" moment where the absurdity of the scenario becomes apparent to all parties whom then reflect and laugh on the moment.

In these cases it's just a constant barrage of emotional (and sometimes physical) traumatising, with no "gotcha" moment, only normalising the behaviour by stating "oh it's a prank! breh!". In the tablet video there isn't really a prank at all; a scenario is constructed in which the older brother destroy's Cody's tablet, an item he obviously has an affinity for, and Cody's anger and frustration becomes the focal point for further belittlement and torment. The "prank" is revealed by the father...having purchased a new one? And will...like...help him set it back up? Haha, dude, gotcha breh. Pranked.

From the child's perspective the emotional experience is genuine. There's no reason for him to believe it's a "prank". There isn't a joke at all. All the experience is composed of is the father and brother justifying emotional trauma fixed on Cody by going "oh you're fine here's another tablet". There's an attempt to buy justification for that kind of irresponsible behaviour, which from a child's perspective simply normalises it. Oh, you can act like a total fucking shitheel, abuse people emotionally and physically, and break their stuff, just for kicks as long as you tell them it was a joke!

What's the life lesson to these children in this one?

"Boys, it's okay to physically beat women you know. Girls, it's okay to get beaten by men that you trust."

That's going to be in the back of those kids minds. These 'parents' are damaging these kids. They're terrible for them now, but the damage they're causing will take years to undo.

That bit is particularly fucked up because he can't even get away from it at school. Kids can be cruel to each other at the best of times at school, but imagine if everyone at your school knew your own parents posted videos on Youtube of them "pranking" you, making you cry and treating you like shit. The parents are both pieces of shit.

Yeah. There was another video with the real mom that got buried a few pages back that's worth a listen to.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KabvkcbTEiQ

These "parents" seriously needs to be put in a Maryland jail ASAP and have the kids taken away by CPS. So so fucked up!!!!

I am so angered and sickened these "parents" live in Maryland because I am a Marylander and this of course is bringing a negative light to Maryland and Maryland will be in a further negative light if these kids aren't taken away by CPS and these "parents" aren't put in a Maryland jail.

Do we know anything about the background of this family prior to youtube? They have a pretty nice house but the parents act and talk like total trash... how the hell does that happen.

A Shining Example
I can't believe Daddyofive is still around. I remember seeing a video of his a long ass time ago and being completely appalled by it. I thought he'd be driven off Youtube a long time ago.

He is absolutely 100% abusive to those kids, especially one of his sons (don't know their names). He needs to be taken off Youtube. Him making money of the views is just encouraging him to do more abusive things, which is why I stopped viewing his videos after the first few.

man this is infuriating.... i know it happens everywhere in the world.... but here we have proof, isn't there any way to help them and a way for the real mum to got her kids back?

I'm a parent of two young kids, but you don't need to be a parent to see that this is heartbreaking. Utterly sickening. Hope these kids can get the help they need.

Watching the videos and various situation the children, especially Cody (and his sister?) find themselves in, I genuinely fear how this sort of stuff materialises off camera.

You make a Youtube channel and upload videos of you mentally and physically abusing your children, in particular one child and then rake in the money from 800k subscribers.

I just skimmed through that adoption "prank" video. These people are utter filth. My heart actually breaks for that little boy.

I found out about this channel a few months ago and had a hard time watching any of it, especially since nobody in the comments seemed to care. I grew up in an abusive home, and hearing the way Cody was yelling reminded me of myself when I was younger and it just hurt so much. What I experienced pales in comparison to what happens in these videos, but just knowing they're dealing with anything similar to that makes me sick. This guy deserves to have custody revoked.

How the fuck did this channel of parents abusing their children get 800k subscribers?!?!?! Why hasn't YouTube shut this channel down?!?!?!?!

Reading this thread makes me very twitchy and angry so I'm going to remove it from my subs as soon as I've posted this. But, if any good positive action happens, could people please start a new thread?

Yeah, I was about to comment on that. How did this shit get so big without someone stepping in and saying "yo this is fucked up?" They have that many subs, you'd think this would have blown up a year ago.
