...hmm. I think the Major might be older than Lupin, and Goku would be in his 30s by this point. And Gene and Jonathan were both 20.

Can't think of any protagonist older than those five from any show I've seen since joining, but I'm probably missing someone.

Some trivia: the Japanese equivalent of the action movie one-liner is for the main hero to just say a 'badass' line at the end, but it's usually not a pun. For example, in the Japanese dub of Last Action Hero, Schwarzenegger's line "You wanna be a farmer? Here's a couple of ‘achers'." becomes "Get out of here and watch from over there.". (It sounds less lame in Japanese.)

...and that's exactly the kind of thing Jotaro does.

Also, Goemon's full name is Goemon Ishikawa XIII, and he's supposedly the descendant of Goemon Ishikawa, a legendary Robin Hood-esque samurai-ninja, the same way Lupin III is a descendant of the original Arsène Lupin.

if you were wondering why he's so OP or something

Zonic

Gives all the fucks
> can't mention the word "kill" or "gun"
> SHOW IS ABOUT SHOOTING GUNS AT PEOPLE

WHY did Toonami think this could work as a kids show in the early 2000s again?

foxuzamaki

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own

Goku in his damn 40s now, maybe pushing to 50s with all the time chamber shenanigans especially in super.

It's too bad Outlaw Star 2 never happened. I wonder if we would have gotten deeper origin stories for some of them. I'm particularly interested in how Gene and Jim ended up working together.

Hey, we're getting crap like FLCL 2. I could see AS considering Outlaw Star 2 somewhere down the line, especially if the rerun goes down well.

Sunrise had plans for one back in 01/02, but it got cancelled. I wonder if they would do a co-production again? Although, Big-O II was a flop, but I think OS would be much more successful.

Jojo in a nutshell
Oh man, they're translating Polnareff's HORAHORAHORA?

...does that mean they're still going to translate Dio's MUDAMUDA?

I approve.
They already did

Well the rumored sequel sword of Wind seemed like a miss-step. Aisha, Suzuka, and the OutlawStar are missing, and Melfina is barely in the story since she is off to college. Also Gene and Jim split ways.

In regards to how the two met, there's a drama CD that apparently goes over that but I can't find any translations about it.

Alucard?

Am I the only one who feels like the Nen is kind of overly explained for no benefit?

Like, I feel as though "putting more nen into the part you're blocking/attacking with" could have been said in that one sentence instead of introducing 2 or 3 named techniques, then explaining it as a new named technique that's a combination of the others. Especially when the nen techniques all sound similar and have one syllable.

Like I get that he wants to be more logical and consistent than the likes of DBZ Ki/Power Levels, but there's still going to be an inherent suspension of disbelief anyway.

I feel as though there is a big leap from the martial arts Nen to the powers. A big gap between aura shields and punches vs "I have to tell you how to disable my bombs for them to activate and also I can deactivate them by touching thumbs with these other two guys". While fighting with auras is explained in tons of details, the powers themselves feel disconnected from those explanations, and still feel like "it's magic, just accept it".

i like the way JoJo does it better, it's an ability born from your spirit made manifest and you don't need any other reason for them to be different

HStallion

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Nen actually tries to rationalize all the crazy powers that stories like Jojo and others shows, shounen especially, just throw out there with some often vague and nebulous structure. It's honestly more akin to Western style magic systems that often treat the special powers characters can use much more rigid and systematically. Something more like magic system of weaving threads in The Wheel of Time series than Chakra bull shit in Naruto.

Without spoiling and agreeing that the exposition can be cut down you kinda do need explanations as they do become important to understand the different techniques
