I really enjoyed the demo. Feels a lot like an Elder Scrolls game but with actually fun combat. Seems to be less open/big but that is not a deal breaker to me.

this post is aimed at blue devil.

if you wanna be like that surely every game is just shit and bland ?

like shooters are just bunny hop if you can and strafe left and right and shoot.

rpgs are just run along and press various number keys to selected different spells then mouse click or something to shoot.

hey fuck it every shooter is just the same game with a different skin cos you do pretty much the same thing in them all right

Except I didn't say I stopped at the first conversation. I said I got bored at the first conversation. Because it's visually and narratively boring.

Isn't every area roughly the same as that intro dungeon, though? I've heard it compared to Fable structurally on several podcasts.

Walk down hallway, fight baddies with bad camera hovering around, continue walking down hallway. Except in the open world there are mountains on either side of the hallway?

This is like saying Skyrim is linear only after playing the tutorial dungeon at the begining and not actually leaving.

Tried the demo, ran great 60+ (post processing caused black screen though, fine after turned off) on my 4870. Seemed like a solid game from what I played of it. Sad that just being able to cancel moves into a block/dodge and having a decent parry is enough to make it have better combat than 90% of games that label themselves as an "RPG" (a genre that really doesn't exist).

From everything I've seen and read this games look absolutely incredible on paper. There are a ton of small things that backseat designers like myself and my friends have covered in gaming rants, with KoA:R providing some novel or just finely polished solutions.

I am a little worried about the camera and enemy targeting though. Regardless, I can't wait to get home to try the 360 and PC versions.

Played like 5 minutes of the PC version before I had to jet, but so far besides some weird hitching here and there, the game runs solid 60fps on my old gtx 260.

I enjoyed the demo a great bit.

A few complaints:

The camera is kinda bad, especially when running or when you are trying to fight something behind you and the camera fails to zoom out.

The ATI post processing bug. I am sure this will be fixed though.

I could not seem to be able to change targets once I drew my bow back.

Other than that, I really liked what I saw.

Really a well-put demo. A great tutorial area that let's you know about the game and then 45 minutes of do-whatever-you-want type of deal. Didn't have time to play after the tutorial finished but will definitely pick this game up!

I hadn't even heard of this game until today and the demo has made me want to get it.

I'll wait a while though so I can clear my backlog at last.

Played the demo. Game seems kind of cool. Combat right now seems basic, maybe it will get more complex, but at least it feels ok and not janky. Game looks great, it's nice and colorful. The graphics and how smooth the game runs is pretty impressive. I do in like that the world seems big.

I may pick it up, but I'm I'm in no rush. The art and visual design does nothing for me, a little too generic and the actual world does not seem that interesting. Sub $40 for me.

So I guess deleting the demo from my origin account is not possible... right? How I love that. Still got the Battlefield 3 Beta there as well. Why !@#$%^&*? Why?

I guess you didn't read the part where I said I was under the impression the world was structured like Fable's (invisible walls, load screens between areas, etc...). I know now that its true open world majesty doesn't reveal itself until you get past the "tutorial".

That said, the perceived linearity is still far from my biggest problem with the demo. The bland art, cutscenes and numerous technical issues (yes, I know some of these are being addressed) are much larger concerns. Reviews are so close I can smell them.

I really enjoyed my time with the demo. The combat system is really fun to mess around with- I had some really cool combinations of static daggers and an ice scepter. It also is a really colorful game, something that I appreciated immensely. I finished two quests and spent the majority of the time exploring different forests and attempting to help a wounded fae.

I love it. I'm just getting insane Jade Empire vibes, though this looks much less restrictive. Can't wait!

Spent a good 90mins with the pc demo (about to dl the PS3 version). The combat is a breath of fresh air after playing Skyrim.

This game bleeds quality... Unless something goes terribly wrong. I don't see how it won't become a critical success.

I don't however see myself getting it at launch. It's going to be tough, but I promised myself no new games outside of the Vita and it's launch games.

Ugh... my screen glitches out after the opening cinematic. Pretty much just a black screen with the subtitles overlapping each other. Other than creating my character, I can't do anything. Anyone else have this problem?

I just finished the demo. I got 0 bug ! Rogue lv4 !
Really great game, very good combat and that get even better after the tutorial.
Every monsters have different pattern and attack to watch out. A lot of thing to discover if you explore the map.

Spoiler :
You can kill the gnome from the intro :D

It seems some sidequests, unlock another sidequest who unlock another, ect..

I like the way different weapons can be used to make combo : sword to launch a ennemy in the air then switch to dagger then cast a spell.

I'm replaying the demo now, rushing the main quest to see if there is a limit and playing a mage this time. ^^

Edit : Assassination/Stealth kills are not easy to do. Maybe I need to put a lot of points in stealth or my characater was too low level. (Make sense anyway, it's a one hit kill).

Pretty great demo. 98% positive, but the negative....

I cant stand that I cant jump, and
I HATE the invisible walls. 2 feet above a river, but cant jump into it, needing to run around to land that is "level" with the water, is just .... stupid for 2012.

But yeah, the other 98% is rockin'.

Pc gamling seems to be in better shape than ever judging by this thread ;)

Can't the technical pc issues be discussed elsewhere? I doubt the majority of neogaf cares about filter issues or missing mouse pointers on some graphic card...

No? Screw off.

First, the majority of NeoGAF probably doesn't care about this thread. Second, if there were some critical issue with the PS3 or 360 version, you'd bet your ass people would talk about it here.

Finally, there's plenty of discussion about the game going on in this thread. Ignore the tech discussion if you don't like it.

I agree 100 percent. Not having a jump button is just....dumb. Small complaints though

I thought the game wasn't coming to Steam? Not only is the demo there, but you can buy it.

Although it's not listed in the demo/order section and you need to search for it apparently.

Does this also mean you can't knock enemies off cliffs? Will they just smack into the invisible walls?

Not a deal breaker since I'm used to it from older games, but curious all the same.

Played the demo again with Sorcery and found some Chakrams to play with. I enjoyed it, although the camera still bothers me greatly, I want to zoom out ffs. Going to play the demo one more time and decide if I really want to keep my preorder, because I just know the camera is going to bother me every second.

I have just completed the demo, and it was very impressive. The base story is actually quite interesting to me. Dialogue is all right. Seems like there are quite a few tactics to use in combat, and that you will grow with them as the game grows. and level increases.

The game feels absolutely massive. I was just running around once the 45-minute timer started, and about half-way through, I was just still trying to see everything...and this did not include talking to anyone or doing any quests.

I have a few complaints, but they're minor:
-The music is almost non-existent, and I really hate it when games do that. This is especially irritating since the composer is Grant Kirkhope...and what I have heard is kind of so-so. Eh.
-The camera is so sensitive. I can deal with it, but it takes some getting used to.

I will definitely get this game. The demo was way more impressive than FFXIII-2's demo in my eyes.

I guess coming into this with low expectations makes this more great than I had expected.

What a thoroughly pleasant surprise this demo is.

Bioware might want to sit up and take note that 38 Studios might very well be stepping into the hole they left...and filling it up quite admirably.

...and no jumping it a good thing.

...and the camera rotation is a bit manic. : /

Have the same problem:

i920 quad
5770 radeon
6 gb ram

:edit:

Solved black screen issues by disabling post-processing in the graphics options in-game.

Is there any way to check that the ME3 items were unlocked? I couldn't log onto my EA account so I skipped that part.

Looks pretty good so far. Didn't run into any game-breaking bugs and I managed to get it to run on my old laptop (8400M GS).

Camera was initially really sensitive, but I lowered it and it was fine.

One complaint I have is that the UI is made for a controller, which can get aggravating when your inventory starts to fill up.

I'm curious how many of you who are having these problems are playing on PC as opposed to console. I haven't really encountered any bugs yet on the 360, but I haven't really been out looking for them. Also, remember. THREE MONTH OLD BUILD. The issues I'm reading about are the kinds of issues that get fixed over that time period.

Eh? I encountered two bugs on 360 earlier. One caused the towns not to load up and spent 20 minutes trying to figure out if that was all the area the demo offered before reloading and seeing every thing as it was intended. The second is a minor graphical glitch involving the Mage Staff attacks. Not a big deal considering that it's just a demo.

Downloading the PC version from Steam now, will try out a Mage/Rogue tomorrow and see how that plays in comparison to pure Warrior and pure Mage. Picking this up for sure asap.

Argh, the game crashed on me when I activated "aggressive mode" upon entering the first town. Since there's no option to save the game, I'll have to play through that entire intro section :(.

I rather like the game, though. I'm a sucker for fantasy, and I like the art design here. The music is rather great, too. The combat, leveling up and loot aspects all seem solid, as well. Performance and loading times were excellent on my computer, too.

What I didn't like:

- Camera is zoomed in way too close. This creates some awkward moments with the camera.
- No jumping!
- Invisible walls! Argh, I hate invisible walls.
- Up until the first town, the game seems like it's comprised of corridors. I hear it may open up later on, but no sign of that so far.
- I'd have preferred it if the interface wasn't list based.

The TF2 items are certainly a nice surprise and probably a decent reason why the game is #4 on Steam's best seller list at the moment.

Holy shit, and no mention of EA on the Steam version! It looks like they self-published there. Awesome stuff.
