It's amusing to see how drastically the tune has changed on billups since the beginning of the season.

From past his prime asshole chucker to the pivotal cog in the machine that is required to make the thing work.

I was saying from the moment it happened that waiving Chauncey was a huge mistake by the Knicks. He was basically putting up his career numbers this year. Maybe he wasn't quite the defensive player he once was, but he hadn't lost much, if anything, on offense. If the Knicks hadn't lucked out with Lin, that waive would have been one of their all-time worst moves, and that's saying a lot.

What are your expectations for Ramon Sessions as a Laker? Stats, impact, star-status etc.

Let's have it all in a thread we can easily come back to before he becomes an perennial Allstar playing in a backcourt with Kobe and folks say they knew it all along (Gasol effect lol)

I feel he will be in the Allstar game next year if the Lakers have a top seed. People are going to see how much of a bum Fisher was for playing that poorly starting with Kobe, Bynum and Pau

Go ahead, mock me. Just remember that Kobe has never played with anyone close to a legitimate PG (or even just a ball-handling guard) who wasn't old since he became a starter

Lakers don't retire role players numbers. Even Gasol needs a few more years and he was the number 2 on 2 title teams. Fish ain't getting shit. He'll get a bobble head night or something but that's the most. Lakers have higher standards when it comes to that than the LOLtics or Heat.

Like i said. Fisher has been on the team for just one year less than james worthy and he has contributed to not only the lakers but the nba as a whole. Again, you can quote me on this when he retires and they promptly announce his jazz retirement. And LOL, at thinking Pau's hasn't deserved it already.

James Worthy is a Hall of Famer. He was the second or third best player on a couple of the best Laker teams of all time. Derek was a role player at BEST. I like Fish, but that comparison is a major insult to Worthy. You'll notice one thing about every jersey hanging at Staples: All Hall of Famers. There's a reason for that.

How many times do i have to say his contribution wasn't just to the lakers?????And who is comparing his tenure to worthy? He helped the lakers win 5 champoionships, was co-captain on the lakers team with their best player kobe (how many role-players have that distinction), Is head of the Players basketball association and was involved in resolving the 2011-12 lockout plus other similar contribution to lakers staff and locker room. I'm not just looking at his contribution on the court BUT OFF THE COURT.

Why is Chris Singleton not producing? Like, at all? Is it just the system he's been forced into? Because I know he's better than his stats. He has to be contributing something that doesn't show up on the sheet.

That's all that matters when it comes to getting a jersey retired to the Lakers, being the players association president means nothing in that regard.

So true. Otherwise the entire Showtime crew would had their number retired..

I cant believe we had Pig Miller on our team...lol

James Worthy won a Finals MVP. I think people forget that sometimes.

He's a great defender. His three point shot isn't too bad, considering he wasn't a great shooter in college. In the end, Wizards.

Who sets the criteria on that? And thus my opinion. I as in me THINKs the LAKERS will RETIRE fisher's jersey. Again, you can all quote me on that whatever number of years down the line.

I get back home and my team is no more. No GM, no coach, and no team. Damn, what a day. At least all the moves make sense from a rebuilding perspective. We still have Batum, Wes, and LMA. They're good players, we need to make good draft picks again.

Your role as Players President doesn't mean you should get your number retired. I honestly think he will get his number retired, but he really shouldn't.

Knowing Portland, they'll get the 8th seed on the West and win game 1 before losing the rest.

Great moves today though, but it's easily the craziest gutting the NBA has ever seen.

Like i've been telling others, soul, their isn't any set number of requirements to have your number retired. I for one think his number should be and will be retired.

His contributions to the NBA has nothing to do with the Lakers. The Lakers don't retire player numbers for what they do unrelated to the team. If the Lakers retire Fisher's number, then they'll have to retire at least 30 players.

Pau deserves it already? You really haven't been a Lakers fan for very long, have you?

You are dead wrong and go back to the bench, rookie.

That was a terribly coached game. It has become obvious that VDN has no idea how to find the right lineup for any given situation. I just wonder if he'll last the rest of the season.

I don't know.....if thing keep on this path, I wonder if Chris Paul will want to stick it out with this spiraling team?

.........feels good not being the lone person defending him anymore.

It sure does feel good that he can't hide behind the no talent thing anymore.

According to a source familiar with the negotiations, the Minnesota Timberwolves backed out of a three-team deal also involving L.A. and the Portland Trail Blazers at 11:53 a.m. PT, just seven minutes before the noon PT deadline. The trade that was in place would have sent Fisher to Minnesota and the Lakers’ first-round pick acquired in the Lamar Odom trade with the Dallas Mavericks back in December to Portland. Portland, already engaged in a full-fledged fire sale, would have sent Jamal Crawford to Minnesota and the Timberwolves would have sent Anthony Tolliver to Portland. Minnesota would have also been receiving cash considerations from both L.A. and Portland as well.

WTF Minnesota. Lakers and Portland were covering Fisher's salary for next season, basically.

I didn't care what Portland did, as long as they didn't take Steve Blake back. And i'm glad they got rid of Nate. Never been a fan of his, and always thought he was overrated.
