Nice one Chelsea. Keep going, need them to get to the final (and then lose).

Can't wait for Bayern/Real and for Real to win easily.

Wow.

Don't post stats in here. :s

Lahm was average as LB. As RB he's the best :D

He played against 4 teams as RB, only one which wasn't totally shit (Hannover). Let's wait how he does against proper teams.

Edit: Oh, and against Gladbach, too. Still, let's wait how he does against us (lol Großkreutz doesn't do shit anyway, you should play him as LB) and Real.

We should start awarding half-goals for shots on target, then Benfica would have deserved to win. ;)

No, if you awarded half-goals for shots on target, then Benfica would have won, which is different from deserving to win, which is what we were discussing in here.

Oh, and in my opinion Benfica didn't deserve to win, chances considered, they played terribly. A draw would have been a more realistic score.

Nah, just award the penaltys.

Anyway, chelsea scored, they won, end of story. It just doesn't mean they were the better team. I don't understand how that's so hard to follow.

Man Utd were knocked out by this shitty team? Yikes. This is bizarro world.

We were knocked out by Benfica who lost to Chelsea who lost to Aston Villa who lost to Arsenal who lost to Blackburn who lost to Bolton who lost to Norwich who lost to Tottenham who lost to Stoke who lost to Sunderland who lost to West Brom who lost to Newcastle who lost to Man City who lost to Everton who lost to QPR who lost to Fulham who lost to Wolves who lost to Liverpool who lost to Wigan who lost to Swansea who lost to us.

Crazy old game.

Anyway, Madrid were good but they were always keeping something in the tank. Kaka, Sahin and Ozil were great.

Chelsea were good in spells, Luiz and Torres were their best players.

Jelavic looks good, Fellaini impresses me every time I watch him.

Didn't watch enough of the Spurs game.

lol, was only joking. The point is, arguing about who deserves to win based on stats, like shots on target, is ultimately futile. Missed penalty calls is another story - although who's to say they would have even scored it.

Again, the better team from that game is probably marginal at best. Neither team played particularly well.

Hahaha this is fucking great:

"Then he said...
when FC Bayern wants to sign a player, then he will be signed!"

(Making fun of a Nerlinger quote in the Reus case)

If there is one thing I learned from the game today, it's that Mata needs a rest. He did not look sharp today. Also, Torres is pretty good on the right wing.

I still don't get the Reus hype. Maybe next year when he plays at Dortmund, we can make a true 'statement' about him, but right now at Gladbach all his work is to run.

Even Hanke is doing great there.

lol

He's fast, has good technical skills, great passing, dangerous in front of the goal. What more would you want?

To play for Bayern?

I can get why people would be hesitant to laud Reus as a great player but it's obvious why there is hype. And he's doing a lot more than just running...

They mean nothing apparently.
Nah, at least those stats show a one sided game. Had you of produced something similar to those at the end of the Chelsea game you'd of had a good case. Oh well.

Cause you act like the difference between the two sides was night and day.

Ronaldo was great today, I hope he plays like this more often, he has the skills to be a surprisingly good playmaker it seems.

don't worry Didier Deschamps, Mourinho knows how to beat bayern, give him a call!

I doubt Real Madrid can stop the Bayern attack. We're a much better team than the Bayern 09/10 and Real Madrid is not even close to the Mou's Inter we faced in the CL final.

The Gladbach kids usually flop when they leave their club.
Too bad he's a Dortmunder and rejoins his club.

“I watched the first 10 minutes of their meeting with Hertha on TV. Then I turned it off. How are we supposed to shut out the Bayern strikers? I can't have them tied up," said OM boss Didier Deschamps.

Well, watching the recent Gladbach matches would be a start to get the idea.

Defend with 11 players? boring. I expect better from Didier.

Easy guide to stop Bayern:
- defend each Robben and Ribery with two players
- shut the middle down with one incredible or two decent DMs
- Bayern passing the ball around for 80 minutes
- success

fadetoblack - competed manfully in pub quiz at eagle and child.

made back to Christ Church alive. Fucked up That pub is good.

Bild is such a shit paper. They had absolutely no idea of Götze signing a new contract. About 8 hours later they are running a story saying that he earns €4.6m a year and Kagawa is about to sign a new contract, too.

Wouldn't mind if they were right if Shinji really signs that damn contract already lol

Also I've just realised what the FA Cup draw is. LOL FUCKING LOL. Why the Merseyside derby isn't at Old Trafford and the London one at the Emirates is incomprehensible.

I'm about to watch the Rock. Such a fucking good film.

I can't believe I gave in to Metalmurphy's biased Portuguese defence of Benfica. I should be ashamed.

Like Marin?
Again, I'm not saying he's a bad player, but I want to see him in another team to say "hey, he's actually good".
Ok, first of all: your moma's fat!
Secondly...Reus has abilities that are currently missed in the Dortmund squad even with all the talent:
- none of the players in the starting squad can shoot decent free kicks & corners (in contrast to this season we scored a ton of goals from corners, free kicks last season thanks to Sahin)
- he's way faster than Götze, Großkreutz and Kuba, Perisic and will be great for counters.
- Except for Perisic (who's not a starter) no one comes close to Reus' shooting tech. While both Kagawa and Götze have a pretty accurate shot, they still lack the shooting power to be great finishers.

The argument that he's only great because Gladbach's system is molded to accommodate him is valid, however he has played at different attacking positions during his career and during Hermann's injury and was far from being a failure. What was also noticeable during Hermann's injury is that he lacked a partner for creative, fast-passed passing. He'd have at least two of those in Dortmund (Götze, Kagawa), even three if you consider that Lewandowski > Hanke.

So to me: the pros outweigh to cons. I'm sure he'll fit right in.

I think overall Madrid is a better team. However, for a Mourinho side, their back-four is uncharacteristically shaky.

IIRC, Bayern wasted lots of chances in that final? Mou's Inter defended with 10 men and did it extremely well.

Bayern failed to save football that night. Thank god for Barcelona now :p

I still think Inter was a more complete team, the best defensive side, and deadly on counter attack with Milito. Real Madrid is better on attack but their defense is very shaky as you said. Hell, that Inter even kicked Barcelona's ass.

Bayern lost the final weeks before. van Gaal's Bayern was a side that didn't know how to defend, most teams usually scored at least 2 goals against us but we were good on attack (making 3 or 4 goals to win those matches). We got like 2 chances to actual score I believe. They had like 3 and completed 2 of those. One of the goals was an assist from Julio Cesar to Milito...

In the final, Ribéry couldn't play because of a red card. Altintop was the only backup we had back then. We played with Badstuber as LB(!!!!!!!), Demichelis and DvB as CBs(!!!!!) and with 0 tactics for the defense from van Gaal.
