Official beta video for Katy Perry's new single is up. It sounds like a Ke$ha track.

Rihsus Christ now has black hair and as always she looks more flawless than your faves ever could. Except 2001ney to 2004ney. Tis a fact.

ADELE has clockedt Mad-onna on iTunes worldwide after only 5 days.

(Meh-DNA was clocked in the USA by Lionel Richie just hours after release)

At this rate, ADELE will have a 30+ million selling album by the end of the year/early next year. This achievement comes with three #1 singles and six Grammys. Your faves have been incapable, are incapable, and will be incapable.

#praying4ourfavs

Congratulations~!

If things keep up (and really, who is betting against at this point?), she'll be in rarefied air as not many artists are in the 30 million club (for a single album).

I cannot believe Shania Twain's Come on Over sold 40 million albums.

My family has 3 of those :|

My mother has a copy!

I don't really get it either. I don't even dislike her, I just don't *get* how it blew up the way it did. It's the best-selling non-soundtrack (e.g. discounting The Bodyguard) album by a female artist.

I see your fave was capable.

Idyg8.gif

That she was!

Though if you look at dates (2000, 1987, 1984, 1985, 1991, 1996, 1995, 1971, 1997, 1999, 1993, 1991, 1967, 1979, 1990, 1979, 1997) for the 30 - 39 million club, it makes Adele look even more impressive. She'd be the first person in 11 years (including the Beatles) to make it and the first in fourteen years to make it with an album of original material.

Mariah, Celine, Madonna, Shania, and Whitney all did their insane sales in a time when there were quite a few 20 - 30 million sales albums; Adele is doing it when it has been 7 years (Usher's Confessions) since another 20+ million selling album.

I'm still trying to figure out whether her feat is, on balance, more or less impressive given that it took place in the digital era.

She sold those albums despite it being easier than ever to steal music, but digital content is also cheaper and much easier to obtain. I suppose the most impressive thing about it is that she's selling actual albums in an industry dominated by singles for the past decade.

Is the deluxe version of Brit's Femme Fatale worth it over the vanilla one? I was gonna pick it up the other day when I saw the deluxe one. Is it worth the extra $5?

Well there's "He About To Lose Me" which is really good IMO. People seem to love "Up N' Down" although I find it just ok, then there's "Selfish" which is cute and Don't Keep Me Waiting which is just

I'd say preview the deluxe tracks on itunes or youtube and go from there. The vanilla album is an amazing choice regardless.

The bonus songs on Femme Fatale are OK. They're good enough to justify the Deluxe, but the songs are nothing extraordinary. He About To Lose Me is definitely the best, mostly because it's so different from the rest of the album.

Nothing holds a candle to the bonus songs on Circus. Phonography, Quicksand, Amnesia and Rock Me In? Immaculate.

I'd kill for less sales and a great Madonna cd. I guess you still have the sales. :(

Right!?

Spotify's running a contest for Madonna tickets, and all you have to do to enter is listen to MDNA three times. Three times.

And I couldn't.

I just couldn't stomach it.

The album is THAT mediocre.

I listened to Talk That Talk more than three times, for crying out loud.

But, uhhh...I'm glad it's selling. I guess.

lol, thats what got me to listen to the album, but I couldn't do a second run. It wasn't worth it and to just to win tickets to hear some of it live.... yeah no thanks Spotify

im not gonna disintegrate your $3 weave for all its glory tonight because that would be too easy in a case like this. It's cute you finally found something Gagita is topping this year because we all know its not the current Billboard charts :)

I don't have one to post, but if I did the singers / groups with the most listens would be Queen, Mariah Carey, Whitney, Dusty Springfield, Karen Carpenter, Tim Buckley, Jussi Björling, and Leontyne Price.

And, uh, for people who have had a relevant album in the last few years / are alive, Adele, Lady Gaga, Britney, Kelly, Christina (haha relevant album, yes, but she's alive! I think...)
don't tell anyone; I have a reputation to uphold!
, and some others who aren't coming to mind right now. But whatever.

Madonna becomes the most successful solo artist in HISTORY in the UK as MDNA soars to #1.

Tell me

iiHWkRmI53Iy5.gif

what are YOUR faves doing today?

In what way is she now the most successful solo artist in the UK? Total album sales, most albums at #, what? I thought she was already the best-selling artist in the UK, but maybe I'm missing something new.

Number of albums at #1.

ADELE clocked her with most weeks at #1 in the album charts. ADELE also recently clocked her highest album tally (Immaculate Collection at 12x Platinum exceeded by '21' at 15x Platinum). Total discography sales will inevitably get clockedt as well.

ADELE used erase on the record books.

You can try to fight it, but you're one of us. Seriously though, I'm always surprised when Gaga or Britney fans have an "Us vs. Them" mentality. They both make relatively high-quality dance-pop music. It's just that Britney's happens to be more carefree and positive and Gaga's tends to be a little bit more... menacing.

It's like Britney is Parks & Recreation and Gaga is Community.

And Robyn is Arrested Development.

And Madonna is the Mary Tyler Moore Show.

Community? Banished into obscurity faster than Xtincta.

Ironic considering what a bunch of MEAN SPIRITED, RABID MISFITS the LITTLE MONSTURDS ARE.

Poor, BRAVE Gaga. Has a fave EVER been so EMOTIONALLY CRIPPLED for such a SUSTAINED PERIOD of TIME?

Never.

Mimi... close.

Well, I see The Great Exile has come to pass...

To commemorate, some fierceness:

Now we all know I love weaves, as any good queen should. But I also love when my sistas embrace their natural hair, as Brandy has done in her most recent photoshoot:

I think she should have picked far better songs in her years out of the spotlight. Her lessors have far far better CDs out, and it's embarrassing. She, and we, deserve better from someone so legendary.

Damn.

Pretty much. It's motherfucking Madonna!

She could write some lyrics and hum a tune, with different 20 producers/artists in the room.
"Okay, here's the deal: you all get the chance to produce a Madonna song. Now go ahead and do your best. The song has to be sort of *this* and *this*. The best song will end up on my album. The producers with the best 3 songs can stay here and we'll work on some other music and see how it pans out. The rest of you get a golden handshake for the trouble."

The woman could get the best of the best of the music industry. She shouldn't settle for less. And I'm convinced that in her mind she didn't settle for less on MDNA. So I've got to wonder how good her musical taste really is these days... Does she genuinely like Hard Candy as well? Because I find it hard to believe that, she herself secretly thinks the last 30 or so songs she's made are mostly trash but released them anyway. She probably genuinely likes songs like Spanish Lesson, Candy Shop, Beat goes on, B-day Song, Superstar, ... Yikes...

I sound really hard here. As a disclaimer I should say that there are a few enjoyable songs on Hard Candy and some damn good songs on MDNA, but they're surrounded by a sea of trash and b-grade demo's. I don't get this. Again: it's motherfucking Madonna!
