WAT

Damn a massive influence on my childhood. Basically my soundtrack growing up. Major part of one of the best rap groups of all time. Sad day for rap. Now he can jam with Jam Master Jay in the rap afterlife.

:(

This is really a major blow to me. They were essentially me and my friends' soundtrack in high school.

Does anyone know what kind of cancer he had? I didn't even know he was sick..

That's sad news. There was this one summer when all me and my friends spent our evenings lying around in this dark basement suite drinking beer, playing Starfox and some random olympics game on Super Nintendo. We only had 3 cds to blast in our boredom cave, one of which was Paul's Boutique. We listened to it so much that I'm surprised we didn't end up hating it. Crazy vivid memories of all the dumb shit we did back then always come back to me, listening to that album.

RIP.

Fuck, just found out about this. Loved the Beastie Boys back in high school when they were blowing up. RIP MCA. :(

Let's hope this counts as the 2nd and third death (Seau being the first). We don't need another.

RIP Adam Yauch and Nathaniel Hornblower.

Wow, I would've never known he died if I didn't visit GAF just now. Not a peep on my FB feed, but when Whitney died my feed was bombarded by RIP's and the like. A goddamn shame.

RIP MCA

Our house's porch in college had sharpie scrawled all over with NO SLEEP TILL BROOKLYN about a hundred times on it. Doing that was hilarious and fun that night. Painting back over it when moving out was also fun.

RIP MCA

You left me with great memories and made some of my life better.

8/10 of the top trends on Twitter are Beastie Boys songs/albums :)

I'm sure some will disagree, but this is the most significant rap related death since ODB.

Really fucked up, cancer is the real terrorist out there.
I was in middle school when Licence to Ill hit and I remember the immediate impact both in greatness and in outrage.
Then Paul's Boutique hit and it was another world, Lyrically, musically, mentally.
Ever since it has been a hell of a ride.
Sad sad day.

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
This year has been fucking awful. I can't believe this news. Way too young. One of my favorite rappers and artists.

Paul's Boutique is well known as one of the most important hip-hop albums of all time.

Ok I guess I should have mentioned at the time of release it was underrated.

Nowadays of course everyone loves it. But underrated in the sense that it never got as much exposure as some of their other stuff.

Wow - I had heard about his cancer, but nothing much after he had his operation and began radiation therapy.

My user name is taken from his line in Ch-Ch-Check it Out.

RIP Nathanial Hornblower

That sounds like an amazing time and way to enjoy the work of the Beastie Boys. Glad to have read that.

RIP MCA, "Droppin science like Galileo dropped a orange" Indeed Adam.

I think that would actually be Guru from Gang Starr but whatever.

I got grudge sucked!
Just heard this on the radio. I thought he had improved when they recorded HSC, but I guess not. Sad to hear.

Aw fuck. I love the Beastie Boys. Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 was my favorite album of last year.

I guess we'll never see Hot Sauce Committee Pt.1 now :(
