Actually, I think the EU market is more important than the US as that's where Sony is finding a lot of its success.

That is precisely why Sony needs to concentrate on getting back US market share, and why it is more important to then right now. Europe is in the bag. The Playstation brand is incredibly strong there, specially on mainland Europe. I believe that the PS brand is much stronger on Europe than the Xbox brand is in the US comparatively. Mainland Europe had to wait more for the PS3, had to pay more for it than americans, and they still preferred the PS to Xbox. They are brand loyalists.

PS4 is shaping up nicely, and I doubt Sony have much to worry with Europe when it eventually launches. Maybe only the UK.

US is the problem. MS has the US market on a stranglehold, but I think the US consumer is much more prone to jump ship if one platform is doing better. They already did it coming from the last generation to this one. So that is why they should focus there. Brand loyalty is not that high in the US.

And frankly, it still is the biggest VG market worldwide by far.

How do those employees sleep at night knowing they fucked us yet again.

I feel bad when I can't deliver my commission reports to our global employees in time due to a server issue.
I've woken myself up in the middle of the night after our server restored and finished and sent the reports because people's paychecks are a priority.

I would think getting people to spend money on your online store would be a priority as well.
Not to mention the publishers and devs waiting for this content to appear and be sold.

I don't know if I agree with everything said, but I do with the majority. Of course, the way SCEA is operating it doesn't matter. They seem completely oblivious to the fact. Zero marketing, worse games on offer at Plus, inconsistent updates with their online store....

Today is a perfect example of Sonys Vita ineptitude. Nintendo announces new content and release dates for 3DS, abd Sony still hasn't updated the PS Store with the demo of their big spring game. *rolls eyes*

The anger in this thread over a demo release delay makes me hopeful that Soul Sacrifice will actually sell well?

I really hope this turns out as good for Soul Sacrifice, as the surprise release of Totori last month did for it; Takes an un-noticed, under promoted game, and turns it into a surprise hit.

Uh, as far as I'm aware, all of those services are, in fact, centralised. XBL and Steam certainly are anyway. They have minor differences in regards to availability and prices but they're all run by their central teams. Comparing those to the PSN mess is completely ridiculous.

Having one or multiple teams handling the stores is irrelevant. Centralized store means one store for all countries. Centralized store ≠ Centralized management.

The fact is that all of then (including PSN) still operate separate stores on different countries, with different catalogs, release dates, prices and they need to charge in different currencies.

Companies that used to have a single worldwide store like Steam are opening region specific stores because it's the best way to go when dealing with ratings, laws, taxes and even consumer support.

You mentioned small offices helping with translation, but that is false too. Translations are not handled or helped by small Sony teams in each region. They are handled by the devs. or mostly by the publisher using third party contractors.

Sony can centralize PSN management if they want, but they will still need different stores for different regions.

Your point was that they could have a centralized store, but "internal politics" prevent it, and that could not be farther from the truth.

It's much more complicated than that. In fact, you may be unable to even digitally sell software in some countries if you do not have a respective store front there.

Is it their equipment?
Do they have really old workstations and servers to work with?

I just don't understand how it's not ready to go and publish the moment they walked in when they had all week and an extra day to prepare this server load.

is it even a good game? it looks like monster hunter but all gray.
From what I played of the Demo on the JP side, it feels like a great game. I love how defined everthing is; You can tell there is a lot of love in the details of how the spells work, and it's full of spectacle and bravado in a way that only the Japanese game developers deliver so well.

The demo also has you fighting in Ice, and sandy/volcanic looking areas, as well as a brown-ish earthy temple... so it's plenty colorful in it's own ways.

they probably traded in everything to run off some windows ME server just so we can have an amazing ps4 launch.

Gaikai+PS4 is going to be a huge failure. I'm calling it now. I have no confidence in what Sony does in the online space.

Soul Sacrifice will likely be #2.

These threads always have about five times more posts when Sony don't update on time than when they do.

I'm really not sure what message that sends out.

I am curious, who do you see here that is legitimately angry? I see most just poking fun at this point cause that's all we can do xD.

Yay, PR copypasta instead of answering the question.

When you "aim" to get an update done, that's not really inspiring much confidence that it actually gets done. They're trying, but, y'know, stuff happens.

Interesting wording from Sony here. I think there's a chance it doesn't happen today, either.

it took them that long just to say that? pathetic. Step up your game Slowny.

Actually this was posted yesterday by me in this very thread and it seems like no one even paid attention to it. All people had to do was look at the Sony support page and you could see that there was going to outtages all day monday & tuesday.

Sorry. Keep getting riled up about information we've had for awhile now though. :) Didn't mean to be a c-c-combo breaker.
