It's probably taboo for the teams to talk about Wednesday officially, but do you assume the Rangers/Rays will go with their aces on short rest?

The Indians are trotting out their rookie (Salazar), but will probably have Masterson ready to do mop up.

Garza is pitching for the Rangers on Wednesday if they make it

Windu

never heard about the cat, apparently
have they announced the times for the division series games yet? I assume the dodgers/braves will be the late game. Hopefully...

Really excited/nervous for the game, you guys. Even if they lose, still a heck of an accomplishment winning 91 games with losing Napoli and Hamilton.

Loved watching the Mets game yesterday and seeing the festivities for the Piazza Mets HoF Induction ceremony. So many greats from yesteryear showed up (Gooden/Strawberry/Franco/Alfonzo/etc.) and listening to Gary/Keith/ROn go bugfuck over the Brewers D in the 8th when the MEts took the lead was amazing.

Also, CB (Call Blown) Bucknor is so bad...

Being at that game must have been awesome. My friend went, it was her first game. Said it was awesome.

There was a rule change that wasn't fully explained that they had to get clearance from the MLB on.

Not really. Every single person on the baseball message board I frequent completely understood the rule during the 2012 season that any pick bumped out of the top 10 by the Pirates compensation pick would not be protected. It was extremely relevant to my interests because there was a chance that the Sox could be bumped to #11 or 12 overall. The letter of the law was quite clear. The Mets just whined because that's what they do.

... I'm not sure where to dissect this post first. So because the people on your message board knew = no prob? I'm happy for them I guess, but YMMV with that.

Mets always whine... weird opinion.

The point is that the rule was written without wiggle room. The Mets complaining came out of left field, and came off as sour grapes, because they were contesting a rule that no one else misunderstood.

Joe West will be the HP umpire for tonights game. Jajaja

Getting thrown out before the game even starts? What possibly could be said lol. I see him running his gum but still

If I remember correctly they were giving their roster sheets to the umps and apparently he was bitching about a call made in a game the day before.

"The Reds finished the season by losing five in a row and getting swept by the Pirates. If the Reds don't beat Pittsburgh in the wild-card game on Tuesday, expect manager Dusty Baker's seat to get very warm indeed. "

HMMMMMMMM.

To think, man. We could have had Francona EASILY.

Marlins to sell no-hitter tickets
Marlins Pitcher Henderson Alvarez made history on Sunday by tossing the fifth no-hitter in franchise history and the first no-hitter at Marlins Park. The Marlins are offering fans who were unable to attend the game the opportunity to purchase the remaining unsold tickets from yesterday's game. The tickets can be bought at marlins.com/alvareznono and the Marlins Team Store located at Marlins Park.

Tickets went on sale today and will be available until Sunday, October 6th at midnight. The 9,100 remaining tickets are being sold starting at $15 with the majority of tickets available at the Vista Level.

A crowd of 28,315 was at Marlins Park for Closing Day and witnessed Alvarez pitch the historic game, beating the Detroit Tigers 1-0. Alvarez's no-hitter is the fourth since the start of 1900 to be thrown on the final day of the regular season

Wut?

Thanks. I knew the 2013 Cards were above the rest, but damn.
The highest average since 1974, the first year of reliable RISP stats, by a team with runners in scoring position was .311 by Detroit in 2007.

The Cardinals shattered that number by going 447 for 1,355, or .330.

They did this in a season when averages across baseball with runners in scoring position were at a low for the past decade.

Need to keep this up for another 11 wins.
