The tickets aren't about who gets one and who doesn't. It's just about getting in and out as fast as possible.

I think there may be a tiny bit of stock come the 15th but I feel like its going to be tough work to find one till 2014. I am getting my system from Walmart at midnight and I am going with a couple of friends which should make it fun.
This. Pretty sure you could be the 1st person to pre order, but if you don't get there you wait.(assuming for what ever reason they don't actually get their full "day 1" orders delivered of course)

Yeah it's Gamestop's policy that they have to hold preorders for 48 hours before they're allowed to sell them. If you preordered, you're guaranteed one.
If you don't get one, raise hell. Should make for a funny viral YouTube video.

I called my local Gamestop and the associate stated that they would hold reserved PS4s
for up to 48 hours.
At the same store during the night of GTA 5's midnight launch, I decided to come at 10:00PM
just to wait and there was already 70+ people there. There was one guy who I recalled
from other midnight launches bragging about his number 1 ticket. He said that he was there
for 7+ hours and other people began talking about being in lines for longer periods of time.
I can't compete with them.

Ticket system? never heard of that, Ill call tomorrow. And yeah I preordered like two days after E3 and the Gamestop manager said Im guaranteed one, but I don't really trust his word. I have two exams early in the morning and don't really wanna sit outside for hours, but Ill pissed if I miss out haha

Yeah, the comment a few pages back made it sound like they were pulling first come, first serve on preorders and that allotment only covers "most" preorders. I hope that isn't the case.

All I know is that in Canada I have access to some sort of VIP line since I have an Edge membership.
Still might not bother with all that mess though.
An employee at Target told me they weren't doing pre-orders, so it's first come-first served.
Starting to get pretty excited. I don't know about everyone else but I like the challenge of trying to get one at launch without a pre order, it's fun and feels even more great and exciting when you do manage to snag one. Waiting and getting it in the mail is too easy/boring. I'll be trying my luck at a Best Buy here on the beach that's part of a multi level shopping building so no waiting outside. I don't absolutely need one at launch so it'll just be a nice surprise if I do. I can't wait!

That sounds off, because Target in general did have units up for preorder. Maybe a store specific case?
If you don't have a preorder and you're not in line by Monday night I'd guess you're out of luck. Maybe Tuesday night if you're somewhere where it's snowing.
Don't waste your time if you're not showing up at least a day in advance.

Are they already sold out of preorders? I have one at the Best Buy in Culver City, but would rather grab it at the mall.
They told me they will get their shipment on Thursday. They aren't sure how many they will receive for those who didn't preorder, but they only had 8 preorders. It's a big Target.

I'm debating on going to a midnight launch or just picking up my Best buy pre order when they normally open.
Since I've already bought a 1tb sshd dive for the ps4 I'm leaning to the midnight launch so I can download everything overnight.
But pretty crime has been picking up around here lately. Granted I have a concealed handgun permit and have been practicing a lot with my 9 and 5.7 pistols...

I also work nights so I'd already be up for the midnight launch & would be going to bed when the store normally opens.
This is tough.

When I casually strolled in a few days later the guy behind the register said, "do you know how many calls and people we get asking about this?" I can't even remember what it was lol. Though they have stopped taking pre-orders, they will have limited stock that would be given out to you guys on a first come first serve basis during the midnight launch. But I could do something on my end to make sure you get yourself one. Give me a couple of days and I will give you an update in this thread.
Bring a baseball bat. And if that doesn't work, bring a baseball bat with a nail sticking through it.

Might not be breaking news but called my Gamestop Flanders NJ at ITC center and they are doing midnight launch. Pre order games can be picked up 12th, so less bags, game cases at the ready an open when you arrive back home.

My gamestop is doing the "ticket-number" system. The manager told me to get there at around 5:45 to get the number ticket.

He's basing this off the statement made by an SCEA rep (I think). Regardless, I'm going to bug them in the next few days and see if they are getting extras.
He's pretty confident about it, and the gamestop is located in a popular area. Hopefully we will see numbers this week.
Is it just me or is that Best Buy list not working right? I enter my state and city and get one store that I would have thought to be the least likely to open at Midnight.

Yeah I got off that day anyways. I got a beach chair i can lay almost flat in. Ill show up and sleep for 8 hrs no problem
I'm getting pretty worried about my gamestop preorder because of this thread. Luckily I have a preorder at Amazon just in case. Plan to sell that one at cost if I do get my gamestop preorder.
I wish I had bought Amazon credit with my GS credit, but I was afraid that doing so would mess up my Amazon preorder. Seems like people did that no problem. Oh well, guess I'll have to deal with it.
