Looked amazing to me the first time I played it on the PS3 back in 2007. I could never go back to it though, the animations are so jarring to me now.
Yeah, back when I played Oblivion on the 360 I was pretty impressed when you come out of that dungeon and into the main world for the first time at the beginning of the game, I think I even walked up as high as I could just to look around.
It's absolutely not that impressive anymore, but it's honestly one of the only times I remember being particularly impressed with draw distance.
Honestly, BOTW might be one of the only games since then that impressed me at all, since it makes it a part of the gameplay to use your binoculars to tag things in the distance and the fact that it's on a portable system.
The only other recent game I can think of was Xenoblade Chronicles for the 3DS, which isn't much of a looker, but having a game with such a huge sense of scale on a handheld was pretty impressive.
