Maybe, I don't know.
On one hand, getting people talking about their next system is great, because it's likely they'll announce it soon and ride that wave of excitement.
On the other hand, I feel like these fakes clearly proved that core gamers are tired of Nintendo's gimmicks, and if they are aiming at a new one this time around, all of this "hate" towards their sense of innovation might very well translate to the new gimmick they found and believe in for this generation.
Not traditional would be awesome. Wacky, daring Nintendo is the best Nintendo. The Wii was my favorite system of all time in fact. And Wii U has also been my system of choice this gem.Great response. Judging it based on what tablets and phones have seems a bit silly. Going back and playing DS touch games and yeah there is a huge difference between that and what we have now.
Bring on the NX, hope it is not traditional.
Like anything..Like the Dual Shock 4 for example, technology evolves. There isn't a defacto design.
Oh no doubt the original patent has some kinks to work out. That said, this fake design really didn't deserve the benefit of the doubt. Some ideas are simply bad.
Me too. It's like the best kept secret in gaming right now.I'm surprised that Nintendo have managed keep the NX under wraps for this long.
But the problem with this is, Nintendo is not the leading edge of this technology. They're not going to beat one of the major tech firms to market with some revolutionary touch screen technology. The tech has to be vetted long before it gets into the hands of a video game console designed with children (and adults) in mind.
This is like saying the DS4 was going to have some revolutionary touch screen in the middle, or that the rear touch on the Vita was going to be some revolutionary design. They weren't.
Nintendo's design might be a novel use of existing technology, but I highly doubt it's going to be some brand new, never before seen touch technology. It's not realistic nor would it likely be cost effective. Their designs always capitalize on refining existing tech, not inventing it. As of right now, I haven't seen any kind of touch technology that would be suited for exclusive control of a game via 'virtual buttons'.
I think we're going to be in for a special treat with the way Nintendo has this locked down. It's the best kept secret which is very hard in today's age and so many people want to know what it is.Me too. It's like the best kept secret in gaming right now.

Their streaming tech in the Wii U gamepad was pretty cutting edge wasn't it?
I love Nintendo, but I'd still temper my expectations if I were you. Especially the "all the games" part. Look at history.I think we're going to be in for a special treat with the way Nintendo has this locked down. It's the best kept secret which is very hard in today's age and so many people want to know what it is.
I'm so exited and I want it to be E3 already! I want to see the NX and all the games.

So now the mind wanders, what does the NX controller really look like?
Oh, I thought he was one of the more trust worthy people on GAF.

Would be hilarious if it turns out extremely similar to this design and no buttons, I'll fall out off a chair.

Hope this goes to show one, how bad some people are when it comes to believing rumours (specially if you're a fan) and two, how bad the general population is at knowing what the video game industry us actually up to.
Gotta be more sceptical.

Needs tag "Tree whisperer".Look at the reflection in the first image, then look at Massive's HQ in Sweden
Same tree

Shit
Hah, yeah, we actually make and sell those glasses. I was wondering if I should have them on in the video but decided against it. But you can see them on the laser cutter lid in the video where I put them downQuickly made a gif of your other video, which is now fitting:

Really cool video though. 3D printing bringing about the age of fake leaks?

Earlier in the thread i think we started to have a good discussion about the pros and cons of the fake created, I understand why and i have concerns myself about touch buttons, but i'm willing to try what they put out rather than outright dismissing it from the start.
